Thalia and her puppies came to us, when the owner put our a plea for help with a momma dog, and 8 puppies, who they did not want. When we arrived to the scene, Thalia (momma), was tied up with a chain and a padlock to a panel of fencing, on the outside of the yard, so. she was not protected inside a fence. The 8 puppies, some people had already came and took 2 of them. The reamining 6 puppies were free raoming, near a road, in the drive way, and some huddled up under some cars, wrapped up to try and keep warm. These puppies were saved just adter the bitter cold week, where temperatures in we the negative tens, -10 windchill. These 8 puppies sleeping on a hard dirty gound, under cars for warmth and cover while momma was chained up with a pad lock. Both Thalia and the puppies were all very underweight. No food or water bowl were seen at the site the dogs were rescued from. We took Thalia and the 6 puppies, placed them in foster home, where we worked on getting them all to healthy weights, and into the vet to make sure they are all healthy and recieve vet care. Tuker is a male 11 week old small shepard/pug mix. We were told by the owner of Thalia and puppies that a pug mix was the dad of the puppies. We believe most of the 6 puppies will be small to medium in size. Mom Thalia is about 40lbs, and we expect the puppies to be under that weight when fully grown. This is an estimate based off mom, and dad, and the puppies current size ( this is not a gaurantee they will all be under 40lbs). Tuker is brinde, with a small white patch on his nose and the cutest ears! He is working on house breaking, and crate training. They are all young puppie and just now starting to discover what its like to be a dog, and not in survival mode. Tuker ( and siblings) would do well in most homes, as they are young puppies, who like small kids, take in everything you teach them. They will need adopters who have time to train and bond with a new puppy. Tuker will be arriving in New England on 01/21/2023 and is excited to start his new life with a loving family. show less

Momma Magic is on her way to New England and is looking for a FURever home, now that all of her 10 Princesses, and Princes have been adopted last week! Magic is a sweet girl, who is very good with other dogs, she attended doggy day care while in her TN foster home. She is just a puppy herself, the vet estimated her to be around 2 years old. Magic came to Paws Rescue League when local rescue people in TN has seen a stray heavily pregnant dog wandering for weeks, they contacted rescues, aninmal controls, and humane societies, but unfortunately EVERYONE WAS FULL. ( Paws Rescue League Inc was also full). Sadly Magic gave birth to her puppies outside, she had 10 adorable little babies, but still no one to step up and help this family in need. We were contacted and explained the situation, and they asked if we could help. We got a foster home lined up right away, and had made vet appointments for momma and pups. Momma Magic has since been fixed, fully vetted, and is ready for her Happily Ever After! Momma Magic, and her puppies have been in our foster care since the 2nd week of September. Magics puppies have all been adopted last week, now its her turn! She is truly a wonderful sweet girl! Housebroken, crate trained, and plays very well with other dogs. All this information is learned through foster parents, during the time the dog is with us in foster care. show less

Phoebe was saved from a local TN kill shelter/Animal Control. The state of TN gives all doga 3 days to find their owner, or a new adopter or rescue to save them. After 3 days if the dog is still there, they can and will euthanize ( put to sleep). Pheobe is just a sweet little 3 months old female german shorthair pointer mix pup! She has her whole life ahead of her! She is so excited that she might meet her new PAWretns soon! And find the PAWfect home for her! She is doing wonderfully with housetraining, crate training, socialization, and leash walking! Her TN foster family put a lot of love and care into this sweet girl! She is good with everyone, dogs, kids, cats and strangers! She is happy go lucky and eager to learn! She arrives in New England on 02/04/2023 and needs a FOSTER Home, or FURever home! show less

Cactus Jack came to us as a request from a local Tennessee aniaml control, they do their best not to euthanize dogs for space, but working with rescues. Cactus Jack has been in this animal controls care for a few months, puppies have come and gone, fluffy dogs, small breed, but Cactus Jack was never picked to be adopted or rescued. The staff couldnt understand why, he is super sweet, affectioate, cuddly, playful, a quick learner, house broken, good on leash. Hes a wonderful pooch! Great with other dogs, and with people and kids. But the larger dogs are looked over many times. Cactus Jack made friends with all the volunteers and staff, and had a pep in his step and a wagging tail each day he was there, he never gave up home. Now its Cactus Jacks turn to find a FURever family, a family just for him! Cactus jack is passed the piuppy stage, at the young age of 5, he is not yet a senior, but a happy adult boy, who will be so grateful to finally be part of a family and have a home of his own. show less

Kookie was a found as a stray dog, at only 3.5 months old. She was fending for herself in the middle of the counrty. She was skin and bones when she was found. She was placed on a 3 day stray hold (the animal control does euthanize dogs after 3 days if an owner, resuce or new adotper doesnt take the dog). We placed a rescue hold on Kookie, so she would come to rescue if no one claimed her. Kookie went to her foster home and has been with her foster family for over 4 weeks now! She is ready to head to New England for the last chapter of her rescue journey... and find her happy FURever after. Kookie is great with other dogs, wonderful with children, and is an all around truly sweetheard of a dog. Her foster family adore her and are hoping she hits the family jackpot! She deserves it! Kookie is housebroken, crate trained, good with everyone, walks ok on leash, does ok in the car. She will be believe she will be about 40-50lbs full grown . Kookie would fit great in many homes, but a young semi-active couple, or family who has another dog would be ideal for Kookie. show less

Padma, came to Paws Rescue League after animal control was called about a litter of dumped puppies by a road. There near the road and someones property were 5 starving puppies, a 6th puppy was found screaming in pain in a bush a few feet away. This little family of 6 siblings were discarded like trash on December 30th 2022. In the bitter cold, little 8 week old babies, who just stopped nursing, were deemed garbage by their owners. How awful calous, and heartless some people are, its sickening. Sadly this happens ALL the time in TN and other southern states where animal protection laws do nothing to protect innocent animals. We could go on about what is deemed acceptable in these areas when it comes to providing food, and shelter for pets but we'll save that for another day for now. The 2nd week of January, Padma and Pia suffered from a prolapsed colon, they were so full of worms, after they were de wormed, their tiny tummies were so stuffed up, straining to pottying led to the prolapses. Both Padma and Pia have had surgery to correct it. During this time Padma also had surgery on her broken leg. Padma, a beautiful, now 10.5 week old American staffy mix, with a gorgous brindle and white toes! She is a typical puppy, she is practicing housebreaking, and leash walking, and crate training. She is still very much a very young pup, with her whole life ahead of her! She is good with all people, despite what her previous owner did to her and her siblings, she is good with all dogs, and cats. She will grow to be a med- large sized dog. She would do well in most homes, who are willing to put the time and effort in to training a puppy. She would LOVE a back yard of her own, and some fur siblings to play with! Padma arrives in New England on 01/21/2023 and is looking for her FURever family! show less

Tonka was found as a stray dog, he was picked up by the local animal control. This animal control IS A KILL SHELTER. A dog has 3 days to be adopted or saved by a rescue. One look at Tonka and it was clear he lived a life of SEVER neglect. His skin was falling out and thinning out all over, he had terribly long nails, his teeth were ground to stumps from gnawing on either a chain he was tied up with or a metal kennel he was locked in ( he was either caged or chained for a long time for his teeth to be in that condition. Worst of all he had ear infections that had gone untreated for so long that scar tissue from him scratchng at his ears caused tissue to grow and completely enclose his ear drums. His ears were swollen to the point they looked like ballons, his face was also beginging to swell. We knew we had to save this boy, and get him immediate vet care, he deserved so much more than what he was put through. Taking one look into his eyes and you can see his sad past, but despite his awful past, he has nothing but love and devotion to every human he meets. He has every right to be terrified, or untrusting of humans, but he adores them. He is the sweetest thing on two legs, he is the most well behaved boy, he loves every dog and human, (as well as children) he meets, and is just so grateful to br alive. Tonka would fit in almost any, loving home, he is just the happiest, easy going, very good boy, with so much love to give! show less

Thyme is one of 14 puppies from the Herb Litter. Born to Momma Sage on 10/12/2022 in New England! Momma Sage is a Doberman mix, she is on the thinner/sleeker size, and weighs about 45lbs. We saved Sage when we were called about a Dog dumped on someones property. We were able to find a foster placement for her, and get her to the vet and healthy, unfortunately Sage was heavily pregnant, and would be having her puppies within 3 weeks. We sent her to New England, where 3 weeks later she gave birth to 14 beautiful babies! 12 were born over the course of 10 hours, 2 hours after she seem done, she had her last 2 suprizes! Thyme is one of the male puppies, he white, with black markings. Being part australlian shepard, he will be on the higher energy side and need a family who can keep up with him and work on his training when he is old enough. He is one of the largest pups out of the litter, he has a lot of loose skin and big paws, so we expect him to be about 50/60lbs full gorwn. Thymes perssonality as of right now, he is a sweet cuddle bug, and loves attention from his people, he likes to curl up in your lap and get belly rubs. He is great with other dogs, cats and adores children. He is currently 12 weeks old and ready to find his FURever home! He is absolutley adorable with green eyes, and a wondefrul temperament. He already knows how to sit! He is the cuddliest of all of the puppies, he loves to give his peopole hugs, and to lay in your lap and get pets. He is truly a complete love bug, and is oh so very cute! show less

Sam, Dean and Rowena came to Paws Rescue League, from a (Tennessee )local animal control, the 3 of them were picked up as strays and placed on a stray hold. Once no owners came to claim them, someone needs to adopt them or a rescue needs to take them. East TN is rampart with unwanted dogs, and animals who are not Spayed/Neutered, it has become so out of hand, there are more than 2 dozen resuces that put in great effort to save these dogs lives, with rescues effort and animal controls helping each other save these dogs, euthanasia rates have dropped, which is wonderful. But until the LAWS change, to keep animals safe, and hold people accountable, there will continue to be dogs in need. Sam is about 17 lbs, 1-2 years old, he is full grown, and will not get any larger, he is a mix bettween small terrier dog, and dachshund dog. He is a little shy at first, the shiest out of the 3, but warms up quickly and loves his people, he is good with other dogs, kids and tested ok with cats,( he showed some interest in wanting to investigae). He is housebroken, but will have accidents the first day or two while learning his new routine. Sam would love a family of his own show less

Sassy is the sole puppy that Momma Sissy delivered. Sadly on December 7th momma Sissy went into labor, delivered little Sassy, but had a hard time delivering baby #2. We rushed her to the vet, and the vet did all they could do get the baby out and keep momma safe. Unforrunately baby #2 did not make it. Sassy is so small and young that it would of been near impossible for her to deliver that 2nd baby. Becasue she was only pregnant with 2 puppies, they were able to grow large in utero ( more space to grow), which is always a concern for small breed dogs. Sassys momma Sissy, is roughly 8lbs, a teny tiny Chihuhahua. We are not 100% certain what Sassy is mixed with but our best educated guesses are Pug, or Boston mix, Sassy we believe will grow to be a little bigger than mom, but we believe she will be under 20lbs full grown. Sassy got her name, because the moment she came out she was described by her foster mom as very Sassy! She has a beautiful brindle coat, and a smooshed face, and big eyes, and just the cutest little thing! Sassy is currently about 5 weeks old. She is able to go to her FURever home the last week of January. We are now taking applications on this adorable little gal! show less

Monty came to Paws Rescue League Inc. as an owner surrender. They were no longer able to care for him. Monty is a standard poodle, who is about 2 years old and weights 51 lbs. He is a silly boy, who loves his people. He is housebroken, and he has been working on crate training since he entered rescue. He does well on leash, and ok in the car. He is good with people, and kids, we do suggest older kids, as he is a big dog, and still young. He could easily knock a small child over unintentionally. He is good with other dogs. He should meet new doggo friends with a proper intro. He has not been cat tested yet so we are unsure how he would do with cats. Hes a good boy, and very smart ( as poodles are). He will need a family who has breed experience, and a fenced in back yard is prefered. Monty is neuterd, HW negative, and medically up to date. show less

Darrell came to Paws Rescue League Inc as a stray. He was picked up by a local animal control, and placed on a 3 day stray hold. This particular animal control DOES euthanize ( put dogs to sleep) for space. This is the main shelter we save dogs from, as they have very little time and are facing possible euthanasia. Darrell is a sweet, Cairn terrier/yorkie terrier mix, he is about 10lbs, and is between 1-2 years old. He will not get any larger than he is now. We do not know if he is hypoallergenic, he was a stray so we can only give our best guestimate on his breed mix. Darrell is housebroken and pee pad trained, he is ok on a leash, enjoys car rides, loves to be near his people. He would love a home where he can cuddle on a warm lap. Darrell is good with dogs, cats and kids. show less

Leia came to Paws Rescue League from a local animal control shelter, Leia was found as a dumped puppy at 6-7 weeks old. She was placed in a foster home, and we have had her vetted and now she is on her way to New England to find her happy FURver after, Leia is a gorgous fawn colored pooch with stunning blue eyes. One look at her and she metls your heart. How someone could dump this precious girl is mind boggling to us, Leia is about 9 weeks old now, she will grow to be about 40/50lbs when full grown. she LOVES everyone she meets, kids, people,dogs, cats! She is a great little gal and would male a wonderul addition to many families! show less

Winter and Eve were found as strays wondering the country side. They were at animal control on a 3 day stray hold (after 3 days the dogs can be euthanized for space) The 3 days allows an owner to come and claim the dog, or for someone to adopt the dog, or a rescue to save them. Winter and Eve were horribly matted, so badly so they were labled as Shih Tsus mixes. Once we got them into a loving foster home, we got them cleaned up, and had a groomer come by and salvage of the two girls hair. Once they had their haircut and groomed it was clear they are Schnauzer mixed. With Winter most likely mini Schnauzer/Bichon mix. Winter is a very sweet dog, her foster says she makes a wonderful lap dog, She loves to be with her people, she will cry when you leave her, but she has been getting better and better. Winter is good with other dogs of all shapes and sizes, she is good with kids, but we do suggest kids 8 years and up who can respect a dogs space. We have not cat tested Winter yet but we believe she would do fine with feline friends. She is fully housebroken, She is about 21lbs, and has a beautiful white coat of hair. Petra, came to Paws Rescue League after animal control was called about a litter of dumped puppies by a road. There near the road and someones property were 5 starving puppies, a 6th puppy was found screaming in pain in a bush a few feet away. This little family of 6 siblings were discarded like trash on December 30th 2022. In the bitter cold, little 8 week old babies, who just stopped nursing, were deemed garbage by their owners. How awful calous, and heartless some people are, its sickening. Sadly this happens ALL the time in TN and other southern states where animal protection laws do nothing to protect innocent animals. We could go on about what is deemed acceptable in these areas when it comes to providing food, and shelter for pets but we'll save that for another day for now. Petra, a beautiful, now 10.5 week old American staffy mix, with a gorgous tan coat, with white chest, and white socks! She is a typical puppy, she is practicing housebreaking, and leash walking, and crate training. She is still very much a very young pup, with her whole life ahead of her! She is good with all people, despite what her previous owner did to her and her siblings, she is good with all dogs, and cats. She will grow to be a med- large sized dog. She would do well in most homes, who are willing to put the time and effort in to training a puppy. She would LOVE a back yard of her own, and some fur siblings to play with!
