Pete is a 1 year old male Chi/Dachund mix. He was an owner surrender, he was being taken to the shelter when a volunteer called us and asked if we would take him. We took Pete and placed him in a TN foster home, so he could be vetted and neutered and make his way up to New England to find his forever family. Pete is a small dude, who enjoys naps and playing with other dog friends. He spends time at doggy day care and loves it. show less

Candy is a 5 month old Lab/plott hound mix. She is one of 4 puppies ( Pound Puppy Litter) who were found wandering the street together. Animal Control came and pick the 4 puppies up who were all the same size, age and looked alike. Sadly they were apparently left there by someone. They were nervous at animal control shelter, but were sweet to all the staff. Paws took them into our rescue, and were placed in a foster home for a few weeks while they could be vetted and fixed before heading up to New England to meet their new families. They tested well with other dogs, small children and people. They have yet to be cat tested. Candy and her siblings are estimated to be large breed dogs, so prior experience with large breeds is prefered. Candy would love to have a fenced in back yard to play in. Sparky is fawn with a white chest, Andy is mostly Fawn colored, Candy and Mandy are Dark brown colored, Candy has more white on her chest then Mandy. show less

She is a sweet girl, shes had a rough start, trying to fend for herself. Not much is known about her past, we are unsure if she was owned and wasnt treated properly or if she was on her own most of her life. She is heading to New England soon to find her happily furever after. She is looking for a family who will always take care of her, and love her as she should be. Volunteers at Paws have named her Tilly, short for Matilda. Which means strong one or strenght. Because she is a strong girl for surviving what she has. show less

Aurora is a 9 week old Chinook/German Shepard mix. She and her 5 other siblings were found in a neighbors yard. Mom was a stray, and had the puppies on someones property. The owner of the property threatened to shoot the mom. When mom didnt come back for the puppies the good samaratin brought the dogs to our partner in TN. The spring litter has been in our rescue, and have been bottle fed since the age of 3 weeks old. Aurora is playful, curious and friendly, she gets along with everyone, other dogs, kids and cats. Freya and her siblings are not housebroken and are not crate trained yet. show less

She was dumped at a shelter becasue her family found her to be too active for their lax lifestyle, they were looking for a couch potato. While Delilah does like napping on the sofa, she enjoys getting out and running, playing or going for a hike, She is house broken, and crate trained. She has a typical GSD's energy level. Experience with the breed is prefered. She would do great in a home with older children, who know how to behave with dogs, or no children. She would do best as an only dog, only pet household, where she can get all the attention from her people. She has not been cat tested, but we dont think she would do well with cats. German Shepards can have a high prey drive. She is a young girl, and she would love to find her family who can love and care for her. show less

Hatchi is a sweet boy, who thoroughly enjoys the company of his hoomans. He tolerates other dogs, and cats but prefers to just sit on his humans lap. He loves pets and scratches, and he shows his appreciation by giving you tons of kisses! Hatchi is afraid of squeaky toys, so no squeaky toys for this fella. His perfect home would be a retired couple, or retired single owner. He is good with kids but prefers to relax most of the day. Shiloh is mom of the polar litter! (Nanook, Koda, Luna and Mika!) Shiloh is a young female, swiss shepard/husky mix. She is between 1-2 years old. She loves attention from people, and knows most of her basic commands, sit, stay, shake! She is crate trained, and house broken. She does well with dogs of all sizes, right now she likes dogs who are more relaxed, (but being a new mom, and dealing with 4 puppies for months, we understand why she doesnt enjoy puppy behavior at the moment lol - we believe this will change now that the puppies are all old enough to go to their new homes, and mom is now fixed and ready for her furever family! She is a gorgeous, and sweet girl! Shiloh was found with her 4 young puppies, and was brought into rescue. People in the community who knew of her let us know that she has had 3-4 litters of puppies, her first litter of puppies she had when she was 6 months old, she was still a puppy herself. Once her first litter was old enough, she was pregant again. This poor girl has been neglected, and uncared for for her whole 1-2 year life, just being used to make puppies. Since we took her into our rescue she is now fixed and this momma can now live the rest of her life as a happy dog. show less

Zorro is a 2-3 year old lab/cattle dog mix! He is 40lbs full of affection. He is a sweetheart who only wants love and affection. Zorro was a loved pet, he lived in a home with his owner. Sadly his owner had passed away and his owners family did not want the responsibility of caring for Zorro. Unfortunately he was brought to the pound. (Luckily for him he ended up in a low kill shelter) - Zorro was taken to the shelter on January 14th 2021. Another rescue were going to take him, sadly that rescue decided not to claim him and pull him in to rescue to save his life. The volunteers at the shelter worked very hard to get Zorro attention, hoping he would find an adopter or another rescue would save him. The volunteers knew what a sweet boy he was, and he deserves a chance at a happy life. The months rolled by and no one came for sweet Zorro. By June 2021 the shelter was at a loss of what to do, they could no longer hold on to Zorro, sitting in a small kennel without outside access for 6 months is not healthy for a pup. The volunteers tried finding someone to adopt him, or rescues to pull him out of the shelter, they even asked other shelters if they had room for him. NO ONE was coming for Zorro. Paws Rescue League knew Zorro was in the shelter, and we saw no one was going to adopt him, he was running out of time. The shelter was going to euthanize him for space if he didnt have someone to take him by mid June. Paws Rescue League couldnt let that happen. We arranged for Zorro to transport to New England, he didnt have a foster up here, again.. NO ONE was coming for Zorro. We knew we had to get him out of TN before he was put to sleep, and get him up to New England, even if we didnt have a foster home for him. Currently Zorro is in boarding until we can secure a loving foster home, or a loving furever home. Zorro is a sweet boy, he loves people of all ages, and loves to give kisses and hugs. Zorro came from a home where he was the only pet, and that is what he is used to. The shelter noted that he showed some stress when being in a kennel next to a male dog. When cat tested he wanted to chase the cat. So no other dogs, and no cats for this guy. show less

Hank is a 10- 12 month old male Beagle. He was left outside in a kennel his entire life. We were called to take him in, and get him to a vet and find a loving home for him. Hank was found with a wound on his head, which has healed very well the last few weeks. Hank can be shy and timid of new people at first, which is understandable. He would do best in a home with another dog, which will help him build up his confidence. He is just discovering toys for the first time in his TN foster home, and really enjoys the company of other dog friendly dogs. He warms up to people, and once he does he likes to snooze in their laps. show less

People witnessed a group of people beating a dog ( Lady), when rescurers approched they saw she was chained up with a small chain, unable to escape the physical attacks she was enduring. Not only was she being physically harmed, she was also very under weight and malnourished. She has spent some time recovering at her foster home in TN, and spending time at doggy day care. She is a sweet heart, one look into her eyes, and you can see her story. Despite the many ways she was wronged by people, she is so forgiving, and loving. She is adored by her foster family and all who meet her. She will be looking for a New England foster home, and a forever home in June. show less
