Maggie along with 8 other chihuahuas we saved, came from a hoarding situation. With the help of the local animal control, we saved 9 chihuahuas out of 15. The other 6 chihuahuas went to another rescue. Maggie is shy, and timid at first, when she and the others were found, they were living in terrible conditions. Neither Maggie or any of the other chihuahuas knew what a toy was or how to play with one, our fosters have told us they sleep on the hard floor, and under tables. They probably never had the luxury of sleeping on a soft bed, and being cuddled on someones lap. These poor pups never got to be dogs. That all changed the moment they got their freedom ride and went to their TN foster homes. Maggie was given time and patrients, and once she came around shes been nothing but spoiled, and loved.Maggie has learned she likes to be on peoples laps, and to be around the nice people. She enjoys getting treats and love, and really enjoys the company of another dog to help make her feel confident. Maggie is pregnant, as are the other 2 female Chihuahuas we saved from the hoarding situation Maggies estimated due date is late January. She is looking for a temporary 2 week foster home, until another one of our foster homes opens up. OR she is looking for a medical foster, a vet, vet tech, vet school student would be wonderful foster families! Maggie is pad trained, and trained to go outside, we ask all adopters to expect accidents the first few days while a dog adjusts to thier surroundings and new routines, Maggie is doing well practicing leash walking. She is crate trained, good with other dogs, nervous around large dogs ( we do not think she or his siblings ever met dogs asided from the ones on the property they were saved from). Sissy did ok when cat tested. We suggest older kids, 10 years and up, that understand to give a dog space, and becasue she is pregnant. Maggie is not fixed yet, due to her being pregnant when we saved her, and no open surgery appointments in the south. Once has her puppies, and they have finished nursing she is able to get spayed, and then go to her FURever home! Maggie arrives in New England on 12/03/2022 and is in NEED of a foster placement! show less

Bingo is a sweet laid back and calm guy. He is the oldest out of the group the vet estimates hes about 4-5 years old. He weighs about 15lbs, and wont get any larger. He is fully vetted, neutered and HW negatvie. We believe he is Twinkles Dad, and Blue Belle is momma. Bingo is a happy guy and likes attention from his people. They are all doggy door trained, and crate trained. Good with other dogs, ok with older kids, who respect dogs space. Bingo would love a home thats more on the calmer, quiter side. Bingo came to us along with Blue Belle and Twinkle just a few days before Christmas, when a good samaritan found them out in the freezing cold. The week of Christmas there was an unusual cold spell in TN and most of the USA, where wind chill temps were in the negative 10 degrees. The good samaritan spent 3 days trying to catch the 3 dogs, on the 3rd day he caught the last 2. He stated to us they were barely moving due to being so cold. We took them in and got them to the vet immediately to make sure they were all ok. These poor babies were not in the best shape when we got them in, their fur was matted and covered with fecal matter, they smelled terrible, and had some raw sores on their paws from standing in their own feces and urine. show less

Dancer was found as a stray along with 2 other dogs (Vixen and Dancer). Stray dogs have 3 days per TN law before they can be euthanized. The shelter gives them 5 days, in hopes an owner comes forward and claims them. When an owner doesnt claim than an individual can adopt them, or a rescue can save them. If the dog(s) isnt picked up by an owner or adopted, or rescued the dog can be destroyed, euthanized, put to sleep. Due to no fault of their own. The shelter has 12 kennels, and once they fill up dogs can be euthanized to open up space for more dogs. We save most of our dogs from this Animal Control facility, most of the dogs we take into our rescue were all facing euthansia, Cupid is a little cutie, she is presumed to be a Mini Schnauzer/Wire mix. She is about 22lbs and is a medium/small sized dog with a coat of hair. We do NOT believe she is hypoallergenic. Cupid is good with kids. She is good with other dogs, we are unsure about cats, but based on her temperament and personality we believe she would be fine with cats. Information from her foster family " Cupid is a perfect little girl! She is perfect in every way. She is crare trained and good in the crate, she is fully housebroken, and loves to lounge around with my dogs and me. She is very gentle and calm, very sweet natured. She is just perfect! She will make a family very happy! Cupid will arrive in New England on 01/07/2023! Cupid is looking for her FURever home or a FOSTER HOME! We anticipate getting many applications for this sweet girl, due to lack of available foster homes we are hoping to get her into a FURever home (adoptive home) instread of going to a foster home for a few days then moving to a furever home, show less

She adores being loved on, and will use her paws to try to get your hand back to keep petting her. She will paw gently at you to try to get your attention to come and pet her, She is crate trained, completley housbroken, leash trained. Dancer doesnt mind sharing her stuff (toys), but she does get nervous when you go to take the toy away, She is afraid of fast movements and loud noises, with reassurance she relaxes quickly. Gunther, Tucker, and Walter are 3 month old male Great Dane/Lab mixes. We were alerted to a group of 4 black puppies roaming the roads in TN. We had been asked to help and take them in, we began our search for them. Every time we got a call about their location, our volunteers would arrive and there would be no signs of the puppies. Volunteers left names and numbers with constuction workers, police officers and anyone in the area, for them to contact us if they spotted the puppies. We located the original owner of the puppies, who said she rehomed them, and the new family must have dumped them.She asked if we could take them into rescue, which we agreed we would if we could locate them. The puppies were starving, the first report they were on a farm eating the cow feed. Highway patrol told us the puppies had been running near the highway and had almost got hit numerous times. Finally we got a tip after 4 days of searching that a lady had pulled over and put all 4 puppies in her car. We couldnt locate this woman, so we put out a plea on social media. We got a message the next day that 3 of the 4 puppies were in a yard. We had volunteers rush to get the puppies. We immediately took them to the vet for testing, and medication, Walter and his siblings are typical puppies, they are learning about the world, practicing potty training, crate training, and how to be the best dog they can be. Walter was the puppy who was the most nervous when we saved them. All 3 puppies are now healthy, happy and ready for FURever homes! These pups are gorgeous, and will be large dogs, due to their start in life, we would suggest a fenced in yard, and large breed experience show less

Lillie and Eddie were saved from a local animal shelter, that is currently extremely over capacity, like all shelters, rescues and animal controls are. Many NO KILL shelters are resulting to euthanasia because of the sheer amount of unwanted, dumped, abandoned and stray dogs. Lillie and Eddie are collie/retreiver mixes, and boy are they gorgeous pooches, with the softest coats! Lillie is about 8 months old, she is fully vetted, spayed, vaccinated, and medically UTD with all vaccinations and preventaties. She is working on learning her basic commands and doing wonderfully. But what she really wants and deserves is a family of her own, where she will be loved and cared for. Lillie will be in New England on 11/5 and is currently looking for a FURever home, or a foster home! show less

Pluto and his 5 siblings were dumped in a blue laundry basket at the front door of animal control, 5 minutes before they closed on Halloween night. The local Animal Control was completly full, and would have to euthanize the puppies first, since they were dumped by their owner (owner surrenders are the first to be put to sleep). The local Humane Society called us and said "We have called numberous rescues, everyone is full, is there anyway you can help take in this family?" - We were closed for intake at the time, due to the overwhelming amount of dogs we currently have in our care, and very few dogs getting adopted. We couldnt turn them away, with no where to go, and possible euthanaisa. Thankfully 3 foster families stepped up to take these sweethearts in, and gave them the gift of actually living their lives, But their rescue journey is not over until they are adopted by loving families. Pluto is around 3-4 months old, he is a black mouth cur mix adorable puppy! He ADORES children and other dogs he seems interested in the outdoor cats, but is gentle and just wants to play with them. He loves to play and explore! He has been practicing being a big boy and using a doggy door to potty outside. Pluto is medically up to date, and has passed his health exam and is ready for his FURever home. He would love to find a family before the holidays, so he can bond and adjust to his new routine, and get his christmas wish of finding a family. Pluto arrives in New England on 12/03/2022, and is eager to meet his potential family! show less

Mint is one of 14 puppies from the Herb Litter. Born to Momma Sage on 10/12/2022 in New England! Momma Sage is a Doberman mix, she is on the thinner/sleeker size, and weighs about 45lbs. We saved Sage when we were called about a Dog dumped on someones property. We were able to find a foster placement for her, and get her to the vet and healthy, unfortunately Sage was heavily pregnant, and would be having her puppies within 3 weeks. We sent her to New England, where 3 weeks later she gave birth to 14 beautiful babies! 12 were born over the course of 10 hours, 2 hours after she seem done, she had her last 2 suprizes! Mint is one of the 7 female puppies, she is black and rust in collor, and looks more doberman like her momma. Being part aussie, she will be on the higher energy side and need a family who can keep up with her and work on her training when she is old enough. She will grow to be a medium to large dog, between 35-50lbs estimated. Currently Mint is a sweet little girl whos very smar, and super softt! She already sits for treats and on command, (all of the siblings are very smart and learn quickly). She is one of the larger ones of the puppies, so we expect her to be on the 40-45lb range. She is great with other dogs, and with cats, she especially loves kids and to play with them, the moment she sees or hears children her tail wags a mile a minute!. She likes to sit on your lap and get her head scratched, and her belly rubbed. She has the softest fur out of all the puppies, she her coat texture may differ from her siblings when she is full grown. She will make a family very happy! There were over 15 Chihuahuas in the home, the family agreed to surrender 15 of the Chihuahuas. Paws Rescue League took in Thor, Lionel, Harley, who are three 1 year old males, we also took Sissy, Mocha and Maggie, three female chihuahuas, Mocha was the oldest at 6 years old. All 3 were presumed to be pregnant. (Since taking them in, Mocha and Sissy have given birth). We also took in 3 chihuahua puppies, Rooster, Syd, and Bella Lou. Rooster is a 9 week old male chihuahua puppy, he is under 5lbs currently, he and his sibings are pee pad trained, and working on full house breaking, they are all crate trained. THey are typical puppies, and will need families who are willing to train a young pup. They will all be under 20lbs full gorwn. show less

Roscoe is a 5-6 month old male blue tick coonhound puppy. He was taken to the vet when he was 3 months old, because he was sick. His owners couldnt afford testing or vet car so they asked the vet to euthanize him, The vet did not want to put him to sleep because he was a young happy, puppy who just needed a littel TLC. The vet kept him with her, and treated him, and got him healthy right away. They reached out to Paws Rescue League to see if we could help and take him into rescue to find a real loving home for him. We agreed to take him in and made him a promise that his next family will be his FURever home, and will love him endlessly! Roscoe has now been neutered, has all his vaccines, HW negative microchipped and ready to find his FURever family. To think that he could have lost his precious life, because the family didnt want to pay for vetting, We have made a promise to Roscoe, that we would find him his FURever home, and he will be loved, and cared for for the rest of his days! Roscoe is very much a puppy, but he has been practicing his basic obedience, and leash walking, he is doing great with them all so far! He is crate traiend, ans loves everyone. He is dog, and kid friendly. Thats the wonderful thing about hounds, they usually do great with other dogs, and people. Roscoe is currently in New England and is looking for a FURever home! show less

She will fall asleep in your arms (this is when we usaullu clip her nails and she sleeps right through it!), She is going to make one lucky family very happy. She is absolutely adorable, and so far has the temperament to match! ( She is also very smart and already knows how to sit on command or for a treat!) show less

Dill is one of the 7 male puppies, he is tri color, White, Brown and rust with eyes. He has a brown circle on the top of his head that matches his brother Yarrows. His eyes either stay blue or turn green. Being part australlian shepard, he will be on the higher energy side and need a family who can keep up with him and work on his training when he is old enough. He will grow to be a medium sized dog, about 35-50lbs Sages puppies will be fully vaccinated by December 18th 2022, and will be ready to go to their new homes by December 21st 2022! We are taking deposits on Sages litter puppies, to prevent adopters from wasting our volunteers time, and from no showing when its time to pick them up! When an adopter is approved, and seriously wants to adopt one of her pooches, we will ask you to place a deposit, that will be deduceted from the adoption fee at the time of adoption, if you do not show up or change your mind the deposit will be considered a charitable donation. show less

Bubbes and Trinity were part of a hoarding situation where they were removed from the home they were living in. They were both taken to the shelter and the family signed both of them over to animal control. Upon intake both Bubbles and Trinity were listed as about 10 months old, and were vetted with that age as the guesstimated age. Our vet believes they are atleast a year old. We are listing them as between 10 months and 18 months old. They are Dachshund/Chihuahua mixes or ( Chewinies) Bubbles has had a not so wonderful past, and he is a bit shy and nervous when there is a big change, and he is suddenly with new people. He does adjust quickly, and once he realizes you are a nice person he warms up and wants to cuddle, and be on your lap.Onve he knows youre his person, he will love you uncomditionally. He is not very accustomed to a leash but has been working on it, He is about 80% house trained, and still working on that. Bubbles is great with small dogs, hes not been around many large dogs, and he is not a fan of the cat that was in his home, but he has tested ok with cats on intake ( he didnt pay any attention to the cat during this eval). Due to Bubbles past we would recommend children older than 10 years old, who understand giving a dog space. A fenced in yard is prefered until he gets completely accustomed to the leash show less

They will be medium sized dogs fiull grown between 35-50lbs Cilantro is the only black and brown boy, he is very smart and already knows sit and is working on paw! He is a happy go lucky boy, and etremely friendly and happy all the time. When hes alone he occupies himself with a toy, when hes with his siblings he has fun playing with all of them. Cilantro is great with dogs, cats and children. He loves his people and likes to be cuddled. He is super sweet and he is so excited about finding a FURever home! show less

Drool Barrymore is a 5 month old mountain cur mix, she is a sweet girl who is busy learning how to be the best doggo she can be in her foster family's home. But what she truly wants for the holidays is to find a FURever home for herself, (she also hopes her sisters find loving homes as well). Drool, who we call Barrymore, has been with us since SEPTEMBER 2022, and still has not found her FURever home! She came to our rescue when a local Humane Society had asked us to take 4 sibling puppies who have "Aged out". Apparently once a puppy is 12 weeks old, they're no longer considered "highly adoptable". We agreed to take in the 4 Hollywoof pups! Drool Barrymore and her 3 sisiters! Barrymore is still just a puppy, with a gorgeous and unique striped coat that is very eye catching! She has a personality to match! Barrymore loves playing with her foster fursiblings and human foster siblings. She has been learning how to sit, give paw, lay down, and is working really hard on her potty training (which she is doing fantastic with!). Drool would love to have an active family and to have a home with a big fenced in yard. A fur sibling to play with would be a plus! She would make a great, walking, jogging or hiking partne. i=If you lead a more active life and want a buddy to come with you, she is up for the task! She is also happy to lay on the couch with you while you watch TV. She is a big fan on Drew Barrymore, whom shes named after! Barrymore will grow to be a medium sized dog. We believe she will be about 40lbs full grown. Her special talent is...during the fall she is camoflage! Check out her blending into the fall leaves! Parsley is one of 14 puppies from the Herb Litter. Born to Momma Sage on 10/12/2022 in New England! Momma Sage is a Doberman mix, she is on the thinner/sleeker size, and weighs about 45lbs. We saved Sage when we were called about a Dog dumped on someones property. We were able to find a foster placement for her, and get her to the vet and healthy, unfortunately Sage was heavily pregnant, and would be having her puppies within 3 weeks. We sent her to New England, where 3 weeks later she gave birth to 14 beautiful babies! 12 were born over the course of 10 hours, 2 hours after she seem done, she had her last 2 suprizes! Parsley is one of the male puppies, he is gray and beige with stunning green eyes. He has a very unique coat, and is just adorable!. Being part australlian shepard, he will be on the higher energy side and need a family who can keep up with him and work on his training when he is old enough. He will grow to be about 35-50lbs est. Currently Parsley is a little gentleman, he is the calmest out of the group, and adores attention from his people. He will make a wonderful, loyal best friend. He his very smart and can already sit on command at 9 weeks old. ( All of this litter is very smart), he has a wonderful temperament so far, and he tends to get picked on a bit by the other pups because he has a more laxed manner than the other boys. He is most likely going to be about 40-50lbs full grown, that is an educated estimate. Parsley is great with other dogs, cats and loves children and lights up when theyre around. Thor along with 8 other chihuahuas we saved, came from a hoarding situation. With the help of the local animal control, we saved 9 chihuahuas out of 15. The other 6 chihuahuas went to another rescue. Thor is shy, and timid at first, when he and the others were found, they were living in terrible conditions. Thor, or any of the other chihuahuas knew what a toy was or how to play with one, our fosters have told us they sleep on the hard floor, and under tables. They probably never had the luxury of sleeping on a soft bed, and being cuddled on someones lap. These poor pups never got to be dogs. That all changed the moment they got their freedom ride and went to their TN foster homes. Lionel was given time and patrients, and once he came arounf hes been nothing but spoiled, and loved. Thor has learned he likes to be on peoples laps, and to be around the nice people and likes to sleep on the top of couches. He enjoys getting treats and love! Thor is pad trained, and trained to go outside, we ask all adopters to expect accidents the first few days while a dog adjusts to thier surroundings and new routines, Thor is doing well practicing leash walking. He is crate trained, good with other dogs, nervous around large dogs ( we do not think he or his siblings ever met dogs asided from the ones on the property they were saved from). Thor did ok when cat tested. Thor would do better with older children who understand to give a dog their space Thor is not fixed yet, due to no open surgery appointments in the south. We will work with fosters, or adopters to plan his neuter. Thor is hoping to dinf his furever home before Christmas! show less

Yarow is one of the male puppies, he is white and gray in color, with blue/green eyes. Being part border collie, he will be on the higher energy side and need a family who can keep up with him and work on his training when he is old enough. He will grow to be a med/large dog, about 40-50lbs Sages puppies will be fully vaccinated by December 18th 2022, and will be ready to go to their new homes by December 21st 2022! We are taking deposits on Sages litter puppies, to prevent adopters from wasting our volunteers time, and from no showing when its time to pick them up! When an adopter is approved, and seriously wants to adopt one of her pooches, we will ask you to place a deposit, that will be deduceted from the adoption fee at the time of adoption, if you do not show up or change your mind the deposit will be considered a charitable donation. show less

Rooster, Syd, and Bella Lou came to Paws Reacue League, after a local animal control was called to a haording situation. There were over 15 Chihuahuas in the home, the family agreed to surrender 15 of the Chihuahuas. Paws Rescue League took in Thor, Lionel, Harley, who are three 1 year old males, we also took Sissy, Mocha and Maggie, three female chihuahuas, Mocha was the oldest at 6 years old. All 3 were presumed to be pregnant. (Since taking them in, Mocha and Sissy have given birth). We also took in 3 chihuahua puppies, Rooster, Syd, and Bella Lou. Bella Lou is a 9 week old female chihuahua puppy, she is under 5lbs currently, she and her sibings are pee pad trained, and working on full house breaking, they are all crate trained. THey are typical puppies, and will need families who are willing to train a young pup. They will all be under 20lbs full gorwn. show less

Hansel and his 5 ( we assume to be) siblings were dumped in a blue laundry basket at the front door of animal control, 5 minutes before they closed on Halloween night. The local Animal Control was completly full, and would have to euthanize the puppies first, since they were dumped by their owner (owner surrenders are the first to be put to sleep). The local Humane Society called us and said "We have called numberous rescues, everyone is full, is there anyway you can help take in this family?" - We were closed for intake at the time, due to the overwhelming amount of dogs we currently have in our care, and very few dogs getting adopted. We couldnt turn them away, with no where to go, and possible euthanaisa. Thankfully 3 foster families stepped up to take these sweethearts in, and gave them the gift of actually living their lives, But their rescue journey is not over until they are adopted by loving families. Hansel is around 3-4 months old, he appears to be a schnauzer, norfolk terrir mix, adorable puppy! He ADORES children and other dogs he seems interested He is good with cats, dogs, and all people. He loves to play and explore, learning more each day! He has been practicing being a big boy and potty outside. Hansel is medically up to date, and has passed his health exam and is ready for his FURever home. He would love to find a family before the holidays, so he can bond and adjust to his new routine, and get his christmas wish of finding a family. He arrives in New England on 12/3/2022 and would love to have a family or foster family waiting for him! show less

Prancer was found as a stray, a family took him in, and kept him for 2 weeks, to hopefully locate his family. Unfortunately they were not able to find their family, and they brought him to animal control, which is a KILL SHELTER, they will euthanize a dog, if the dog is not saved after 3 days of being at animal control. We were able to save him, and find him a foster home, get him vetted and ready for his trip to New England to find his FURever home. Prancer is a very sweet boy, he is about a year old, border collie mix. He weighs about 45lbs, and is full grown. He is potty trained with a doggy door, He is good with people, kids, and other dogs, we are unsure about cats at this time. Prancer would make a wonderful addition to a young average active family. show less
