Polly is a female German Shorthaired Pointer, who is estimated to be a year and half old or younger. She has not had the best life, living most of her life on the street as a stray, she was probably belonged to someone once, but that someone decided they no longer wanted to care for her anymore and deserted her. She most likely was hit by a car, which caused her to break her hind leg and the poor girl had to suffer on her own in pain while it healed on its own, while she continued to fight for her survival on the streets. Luckily for her she was picked up by animal control and placed in a shelter. Unfortunately for her she sat in this shelter for months, no one wanting to adopt her, and no other rescues willing to save her life, because she was looked and treated as if she was damaged goods. she stayed at this shelter, that was beyond capacity. There was no where for any new strays to go. They had to euthanize the dogs that no one wanted. Paws Rescue League went down to visit this shelter, and passed by Polly's crate, she gave us sad, pleading eyes, as if to say, "Please do not leave me here". She was so sweet and we had to save her. She is not damaged goods, she is a friendly, sweet, and loving girl, who desereves another chance at finding a family who will lover her as she should be. At only a year to a year and a half years old she has a long and happy life ahead of her. Polly just wants to be loved and to love her people. She has an old injury that has healed on its own (a break in her leg bone). She can walk just fine, and run just fine, and the vets believe there is no need to correct it at this point. She does occasionally have a slight limp, after a long play session. Becasue of this "imperfection" other rescues would not save her. We have been asked to help save 2 dozen dogs from this shelter that was severly over capacity, and these dogs were in desparate need of rescue. Polly is one of the dogs we saved. Polly is not spayed, she is being spayed 01/11/22. She is hw negative UTD on all her vaccines and vetting. She is crate trained, house broken, does well with other dogs, but needs a slow intro and an owner who is experienced dog owner, or has experiences with nervous dogs. Polly did well when tested with children. But we suggest children 10 and older, who can respect a dogs space. Polly walks ok on leash. She has NOT been cat tested yet. She is a very friendly girl who wants to say hi to everyone.
