Jasper is a 4 year old neutered male Chihuhaha mix, who weighs about 16lbs. He is a sweet little guy who is looking for a lap to call his own. Lillte Jasper was found as a stray, doing his best to survive on his own. He was smart enough to find some nice people who helped him get to the shelter, where a rescue could save him. We saved Jasper from the shelter. Sadly the shelter is overflowing with dogs. This particular shelter has done amazing, and hasnt had to euthanize a dog since 2019. But sadly the amount of dumped, abandoned and unwanted dogs is growning at an alarmingly fast rate, that shelter and rescues cant keep up. We are all working together to do our best to save these healthy, loving, loyal innocent FURbabies who deserve a chance at a loving home and family.  Jasper is good with people, and kids 10 years and up, he is dog friendly, and crate trained, and housebroken.  Jasper made his shelter break, and has his FREEDOM ride to New England this weekend 04/08/2023, where he will be available to meet with potential adopters! Paws Rescue League Inc, is also extremely full, all of our regular foster homes are FULL, and being a foster based rescue, the dogs that are arriving need a place to go.  If you would like to help save Jasper and become a foster please APPLY! If you would like to FOSTER TO ADOPT Jasper, please apply! If youd like to meet Jasper, and potentially adopt him, APPLY!  show less

Lucy was found as a stray and found her self at a local Animal Control. This Animal Control is a kill shelter, they euthnize dogs ( does not matter age, breed, health or temperament). A STRAY dog has 3 days for their owner to find them, or a new family to adopt them, or a rescue to take them. If no one comes for the dog by 3 days they will euthanize. A dog who is brought to the shelter by their owner only has 24 hours to find a new adopter or rescue. Lucy was a stray. and we had our volunteer go and do a temperament test on her, which she passed with flying colors. Lucy is a young 3 year old small terrier mix, possibly rat terrier. Lucy currently weighs 25lbs, and the vet says she is at ideal weight. She was about 20lbs when we got her out of the shelter, she was very thin. Lucy is not expected to get any larger as she is full grown, and vet recommends she does not gain anymore wieght for her size. Lucys foster family has multiple dogs, ranging from 30-50lbs, and Lucy is wonderful with all of them. She adores her foster mom and dad, but she is so excited to find a family of her very own! Her foster mom is in a wheelchair, and Lucy is completely unphased by the chair, and is just a natural. At the vet, the vet commented how CALM, and unbothered Lucy was by the Vet office Cat, the other dogs in the waiting room, and their owners, as well as how calm and relaxed she was at the vet. The vet commented that she had never seen such a relaxed, calm dog with all the poking and proding from the vet.  Lucy has a FANTASTIC temperament and she would make a wonderful addition to many families. Lucy is dog, cat and kid friendly, shes only been around 8 year old child, and did great. Shes never met a younger child, so we arent sure how she would do, but looking at how she is with ever person and animal she meets, we believe she would do well.  Lucy arrives in CT on 04-22-2023 and is looking for her FURever home! show less

Nala came to Paws Rescue League Inc as an owner surrender. 3 months ago we took in a puppy, whom we named Pickles, his TN foster mom fell in love with him and ended up adopting him. A week after we got Pickles, the family who we got him from was rehoming pickles mom (Nala), we reached out and asked if they would surrender her to rescue as well. They said they already had a family for her. Then in the behining of March we saw her posted again to be rehomed, the first family never came to get her.  This time when we reached out she was happy to send her to the same rescue as Nalas baby, pickles.  Nala has been spayed, fully vetted, vaccinated, heartworm tested, and is now on monhtly preventatives. She is a super sweet 2 year old wired hair Doxy mix. She has atleast had 1 litter in the past (where pickes came from), She is now spayed and gets to be a dog and not worry about ever having puppies again.  Her foster mom, whos been fostering for many many years, says that Nala is a dream, the perfect little package. 100% House trained, crate trained, sweet as pie, friendly with all dogs and all people and children. Is always happy, gentle and sweet, great on leash and in the car. Just a great little gal.   She will make the best addition to a lucky family!  She arrives in New England on 04/15/23 and is eager to meet her new family! show less

Rugby is a 4 year old neutered male Australian Shepard mix, he was picked up as a stray with a basset hound mix. TN Law allows stray dogs 3 days to find their owner, or a new family or rescue before they can euthanize (put the dog to sleep), to make space for other stray dogs. Dogs who are brought to the shelter by their owners have 24 hours to find a new home or rescue. TN law allows animal control to euthanize these dogs immediately. Volunteers do their best to share the dogs to find them rescue/home before their time runs out.  Rugby was scared at animal control ( who can blame him, its loud, and cold, and nothing familiar). Paws Rescue League pulled him from animal control, to save his life, and give him a chance to find a loving home.  Rugby is believed to be about 4 years old, he is full grown at about 50lbs. He is considered a medium sized dog. He is neutered, and Heartworm/4DX negative, as well as medically up to date, and on monthly preventatives. He is good with other dogs, and with children, we do suggest children 8/10 years and up due to his size.  He has not been cat tested so we are not sure how he would do with cats.  He is very smart and knows, sit, down and give me paw. He is also housebroken. Rugby is currently in a CT foster home, awaiting a family!  show less

Houlston is a 7 month old spayed female austrailian shepard, she is also is a double merle, which means she has the double merle gene that can affect a dogs eye sight, and hearing. As well as a diluted ( white, or mostly white) coat.  Houlston was found as a stray, which is also how she got her name, she was found by Houlston way in TN.  Houlston walks ok on leash and does well in the car, she is crate trained and housebroken, she is great with kids, and all people. She is dog friendly, but dogs larger than her make her nervous She has not been cat tested so we are unsure how she would do with cats. So a home with dogs 30lbs or less is best for Houlston. She is a sweet girl, and a smart girl, aussies are known for being very smart dogs and very trainable.    She would love a family who will give her the care and attention she needs, and a fenced in back yard where she can safely play.  Houlston arrives on 04/08/2023 and is hoping she can find a FURever home so she doesnt have to be bounced from home to home, and gave to get familar will multiple routines. She is a super sweet girl who deserves a real family who wants to save her! If a FURever home cant be found before she arrives, she will need a foster home. Foster homes are FULL, and we are in desperate need of more foster homes to keep the dogs we save safe. As a foster based rescue,  When a dog has no where to go we have no choice but to send the dog back to TN.  show less

Janice, Monica, Emma, Emily, and Rachel were being given away by their owner "free to homes", the owner stated they were going to put them in a box and drop the box off at Walmart. We had one of our volunteers go see the puppies and ask about the mom, so we could ask to spay her to prevent future unwanted puppies. We were told mom wasn't available for us to fix. We asked to take in the remaining 5 puppies (originally there were 8), the boys were already given away. We took the 5 females who were left. All the puppies looked heatlhy aside from wormy bellies and not eating nutritious food. Except for Janice, we noticed her face was swollen, and we took the family of 5 puppy sisters and got them to the vet right away.  Janice we noticed right away she had some swelling to her face, within a day she had started loosing hair on her face and around her mouth, she went to the vet for tests, to test for mange, infection and allergies, she was cleared for everything but her face continued to get worse, until it was raw, scabby and painful. Janice has been treated, and is recovering amazingly well! This girl would have died in a box behind Walmart had we not took her in. Every person would of turned her down based on the swelling in her face. This sweet loving pup was rescued, and her life saved. Now to complete her rescue journey she needs to find a family to love her, and care for her. With her illness behind her, she only has lots of love to give. Janice is hoping she has a family waiting for her when she arrives to New England on 02/18/2023!  She is mostly black, and will grow to be a medium sized dog, Janice is happy go lucky, and gets along great with kids, cats, and dogs, as well as all people! She will make a loving addition to most homes! Check out her YOUTUBE link:  https://youtu.be/Q36ygDBTXaM show less
