Dolly hails from Puerto Rico originally. She was brought to the states, by someone who inteneded to keep her, she was then rehomed to another family, who rehomed her about a month after taking her in. The third family she was with gave her to a family friend, who then posted her on Craigslist/Facebook to rehome. One of our foster volunteers decided to take her in and ask the rescue if we would take her. We have agreed to take her into rescue, get her veting up to date, and ensured she was healthy for adoption. She is a local surrender, meaning our rescue obtained her in CT. Dolly is currently in a foster home, with a large dog, a medium sized puppy, and a small dog. She is a bit afraid of the larger dogs, but does very well with the smaller dog. She is not aggressive whatsoever, when she is scared she will slink away to her crate for safety. She likes to meet new people, and will give kisses. She is a small sweet 18lbs mini aussie/kelpie mix.  Dolly will chase cats so no kitties for her, we suggest children 10 years and up or children who are dog savvy, as Dolly can be afraid at times, due to not having proper stabilization/home life, she is unsure in some situations on how to react. She has never once reacted in a way that was aggressive. We suggest older kids for her comfortability, as we dont want her to be nervous in her new home. She is good with other dogs, but can be afaid of larger dogs. Crate trained, and house broken, but can and will have accidents during the first week in a new home until she learns the routine. Dolly has a lot of energy, she is a small one year old dog, who has spent the majority of her short life without adequate exercise. She would love a home with a fenced in back yard so she can run and play, she would also make a great running buddy. She is sweet and compact enough to be an adventuring dog! show less

Lilly was found dumped in the woods on a mountain, with her mom April, and 3 siblings Daffodil, Peter Rabbit, and Peep. A civilian found a puppy running across a dirt road and they followed the pup into the woods where they found 4 puppies, and a mom dog who were all starving, they had no food, their bones were visible, and the puppies ( estimated to be 9-10 weeks old), were trying to nurse from mom but she had no milk. The puppies were sick, and weak. They were found on Easter morning, at 1:00am. We were sent the information and reached out to the finder who took them home. We had a volunteer pick them up and take them to the ER vet that sunday morning to make sure they did not have parvovirus. Lucky for the pups they did not have the deadly parvo virus. But were filled with 4 different types of worms.  We got the puppies, and mom vaccinated, and dewormed multiple times. Momma April was spayed, and has already been adopted! These puppies are a mixed breed of dogs, we give our best educated guess as to each dogs breed, based on appearance, behaviors, and traits.  We believe they are probably mixed hound/Dacshund/terrier/lab Now its time for her 4 babies to find loving happy homes, where they will never be left out in the cold, or abandoned again show less

Roxy is a female schnauzer/chi mix who is 6 months old. Originally picked up as a stray with her sibling, at only a few weeks old. Roxy was taken in by the Greene County Humane Society, where she then was adopted quickly. After 3 months sadly for Roxy (formally known as Fiona), she was returned back to the humane society due to no fault of her own. Her family were moving and could not take her with them.  With most animal controls, Humane Societies, shelters, rescues at full capacity, the Humane Society had no where for Roxy to go. Paws Rescue League Inc, works closely with many Humane Societies, and when Greene County Humane Society asked us if we could take her in, we of course said yes! Roxy was picked up by a foster volunteer, taken to our vet to get a check over and update any medical needs she had. She was so scared when she arrived at her foster home, meeting new dogs, new rules, new family, it took a few days to adjust and after that she was a happy go lucky girl. Now looking for her FURever home in New England, here is some information about Roxy - She is a 6 month old spayed female Schnauzer/chi mix, she is on the small/med size. She will be a medium sized dog full grown. She is good with other dogs, and cats but will need a few days to feel safe and secure in her new place, understandably so, Roxy has been moved around alot as a young pup. She is crate trained, and house broken ONCE she learns her new families routine, and is able to get out every few hours ( 3-4 hours). She is a little sweetheart, and we gaurantee anyone who meets her will fall in love. show less

Toby has a sad story. Toby was once a beloved pup, who had a family. He had a home, and he was safe, happy and content. One day recently Toby woke to find his person had crossed over. Toby heartbroken, and alone, afraid, wasnt found until 5 days after his owner had passed away. He was taken to animal control, where he trembled at the scary barking, and noise and confusion all around him. He had no idea what his fate would be. Lucky for him, one of the volunteers at Animal Control called Paws Rescue League and told us his story and told us this little boy needed help, he needed to be in a home, not a animal control facility.  Toby was picked up by one of our fosters, taken to the groomer for a nice bath and nail trim. Toby went to the vet  got neutered and got all of his vetting UTD. He  is an older boy at about 5 years old. He is fully house broken, and crate trained though he prefers a lap, dog bed or to sleep on the bed with you. He feels safest when he can be close to his people. Toby is ok with dogs, but he can put the younger more energetic dogs in their place, and sometimes he is the fun police, lol.  Toby is a loving guy, who would love to live in a home iwth just his people. and be the only dog, so he can get all your attention. Happy to have playdates, and go to the dog park, he just rather be your only doggo.  show less

Belle was saved from a kill shelter. She was picked up as a stray and had 3 days to find a rescue, or an adopter. Paws Rescue League Inc took her in and placed her in a TN foster home, got her fully vetted and ready to make her freedom ride to New England. Belle arrives in New England on July 2nd 2022 and needs a foster home, or a FURever home. Belles foster parents say she is THE BEST dog, they were very sad when they learned she would be coming to New England 2 weeks sooner than originaly planned. They state she is great with other dogs, and she knows her basic commands, she is crate trained and no accidents in the house. She is very loving, and quiet and just a very well behaved girl. She has not been cat tested yet, we hope to have her tested before she arrives. She is great with other dogs, and plays very well with them, she is good with children. We suggest 10 years and up, as she is still a puppy. She is about 38lbs currently, she will probably be around 45lbs full gorwn. She is a mountain Cur mix, and has a gorgous brindle and white coat. Her name means Beautiful, which is exactly what she is! Belles new New England foster family has also fell head over heels for Belle. Her foster family says "She is just so gentle and sweet and loving, so well behaved, she adores my small children and they love her. Belle is content just snuggling with the toddler on the couch, and is ever so gentle and aware that he is just a baby. She is an absolute joy to have as a foster. We cant get enough of her! show less

Boo and Widget came to Paws Rescue League as owner surrenders, when their owner could no longer aford their care.  Base on the vet paperwork that was transfered into us, Boo and Widget were quite healthy 6 year old Yorkies. Boo has a birth defect called a soft pallet. It doesnt impede his health any way, but it does cause him to grunt (which is very endearing and cute). They were a few months overdue for some of their annual vaccines, and needed a new HWT. We had sent them both to the vet to get updated vet care, and health certificates for them.   Boo is available for adoption, he is neutered and is medically up to date, and HW, Lyme negative. He was given a clean bill of health and is ready to find his furever home!  Due to his soft pallet, he does make (similar to snore sounds) when hes excited, and his body creates slighlty more mucous than the average dog. But this does not affect his health from what were told by his vets.  Aside from that Boo is perfecty healthy and a complete love bug, toy obsessed, happy go lucky little guy.  He likess attention and enjoys being around his people, but he is PERFECTLY content just playing with his toys too! He is very good with children, and playing with them with his toys. He would do better in a home without other dogs, he does well with cats. He is crate trained, but rather a dog bed. He is both pad trained and potty trained (he will potty outside). show less

We had sent them both to the vet to get updated vet care, and health certificates for them. We discovered that Widget needed a dental, and then he ended up having 40 teeth removed. He was left wiith his 2 bottom K9S. Poor Widget is currently recovering from the surgery. We also learned Widget was lyme positive, so we began having him treated to cure the Lyme disease ( a round of antibiotics).    Widget is available for adoption, he is neutered and is medically up to date. With his bad teeth being removed, the vets are not worried about any future dental issues, or health issues caused by dental issues. He was given a clean bill of health and is ready to find his furever home!  Due to having many of his teeth removed he does need to eat softened kibble, or wet food. Aside from that Widget is perfecty healthy and a complete love bug. He loves attention and wants to be with his people all the time. He is good with children, but a quieter home is prefered for him. He can at times be the fun police and bark at a group of children running by. But if a few children are sitting there, he is more than happy to go say hello and introduce himself. He would do better in a home without other dogs, he does well with cats. He is crate trained, but prefers a dog bed or your lap. He is both pad trained and potty trained (he will potty outside). show less

Bit bit was born as the runt of her litter, and also with a disability. Vets believe mom may have sat on her too long after birth which caused her to have very limited use of her hind end/legs. Her owners had tried to care for her and get her vet care as much as they could and did all they could for Bit -Bit. They knew a rescue could do more for her and they began looking for a rescue to take her. They had reached out to over 20 different K9 rescues, none willing to help Bit-Bit. They tried for months, without luck. No longer able to care for her, they were out of options. They really didn’t want to bring her to animal control where she would be deemed “unadoptable” due to her disability and would be euthanized. But with no rescues willing to take her and no longer being able to provide the care and attention she needed, that was becoming their reality. They made a last attempt at looking for a rescue.  Paws Rescue League saw that post and reached out to the owner, and discussed Bit -Bit and decided we would take her. She deserves a chance at life and happiness, she deserves to be rescued. She is not damaged goods just because she has a disability… just like humans with disabilities matter, so do man’s best friends!  Welcome to rescue Bit-Bit! Bit-Bit needs an adopter or a foster who is able to work with special needs dogs, the rescue is working with Bit-Bit to help her gain muscle tone, and stability in her hind legs and we would need her adopter or foster to continue with her physcial therapy.  Bit bit gets along with other dogs, with cats and with kids, despite her disabilitly and limitations she is a very happy girl. Bit-Bit likes to potty outside, but its very hard for her to hold her bladder. We are seeing if physical therapy and/or medications can help Bit-Bit her with that. Aside from that minor issue, she is a lovable little bit! Who desperatly wants a family of her own, who is willing to give her the help and care that she needs.  show less
