All intakes are by appointment ONLY. Before we can schedule an Intake appointment, please consider the following:
- Complete the Intake Request form and submit all documents required. (Keeping in mind, each cat will need their own form completed) The ONLY exception will be a litter of kittens born to the same litter.
- All age appropriate vaccinations, preventions etc. will need to be current, with submitted vet records. All vaccinations, preventions & tests MUST be performed by a licensed veterinarian.
- Each cat MUST pass a pre-intake health check 100% at the intake appointment before being approved.
All cats MUST meet all Lounge criteria such as: Not being aggressive towards people or other cats. Not being overly stressed in the lounge environment. Please keep in mind: If your cat has severe stress in a carrier or enclosed environment such as a kennel, it may not be a good fit in the lounge for the safety of your cat, our cats, our staff, customers and other visitors. *We cannot accept strays/feral cats per Department of Agriculture.
Cats MUST be 100% home ready to be accepted.
Out of State Individuals (Non Missouri Residents): Each cat will be required to have a Health Certificate from a licensed Veterinarian no sooner than 10 days prior to the intake date. This is required by the Missouri Department of Agriculture for any out of state transfers.
During the Intake appointment:
We do require the cats owner to sign an owner transfer contract to transfer ownership of the cat.
The appointment will take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Owner will need to bring a valid ID - owner must be 18+ years of age.
Please bring any other additional documents requested by Nine Lives Intake staff if needed.
The cat(s) will be required to pass a health check before being approved.
Trial Period:
We have set a "Trial Period" for all intakes to make sure the cat is fitting in and acclimating to the lounge environment and not detrimental to their health as the lounge environment isn't for every cat. There are several things considered in the trial period such as; the stress level of the cat, the behavior towards other cats and/or people, etc. If the cat isn't acclimating within 10 days of intake, a member of our intake team will reach out to the original owner to see if you would like to reclaim the cat. If no response is received within 24 hrs of the call/text/voicemail, Nine Lives will be required to contact another shelter, rescue, humane society etc. to relinquish the cat to.
Please Note:
The requested placement date below is something we will take into consideration when we are able to place more cats. It is not a guarantee that we will be able to place your cat by this date or at all depending on the needs of the lounge, medical records/history, behavior, etc. We do our best to help in any way we can but unfortunately, we can not guarantee a spot for every request. Nine Lives is individually owned & operated and reserves the right to deny any request we believe to not be a good fit to the lounge atmosphere and/or in accordance with Nine Lives Department of Agriculture License. The more information provided, the better our Intake team will be able to sort through request needs and it will help assist in rehoming the cat to the best fit home.
