In the event that the dog can no longer live in the home of the adoptive family, you will agree to involve RESCUEDohio in any rehoming efforts. To best help the animal, we ask to be notified as soon as any concerns have become apparent. At best, we can recommend trainers or specialists to manage behavioral issues so that the dog can stay in the home, but this also helps to understand the dog' needs as they transitions back to rescue. Unaddressed behavioral issues that have gone on for years make the process difficult for everyone.
However, we do understand that there are reasons to surrender ownership of the animal back to us. Immediate placement within the rescue is not guaranteed, as adoptive families will need to hold the dog for up to 2 weeks following the surrender request. This hold can take place in the home or boarding facility of adoptors choice. During that time, RESCUEDohio will work to ensure safe placement of the dog, but also may request a behavioral evaluation to determine the needs of the dog.
Regardless of the reason, we want to ensure the placement of this animal into a new home. At some point, we spoke up for them, possibly saving them from death, abuse, or neglect. We did this so that the animal could have a chance to live out their lives in a safe, happy, loving home.
