THANK YOU for choosing to donate your time and talents to Paws for Life NC. As a 100% all-volunteer organization, volunteers are the bedrock of what we do.

Our mission is to save or improves the lives of homeless cats and dogs through foster-based rescue operations. It sounds simple, but there's a lot that that goes into saving lives. That's why volunteers are so important--the more active, dedicated volunteers we have, the more we can do. There are plenty of ways to get involved so, in the spirit of active volunteerism, we ask volunteers to give a minimum of 1 hour per month.

You must be 18 years of age to submit this application. (Minimum age for foster applications is 21 years of age). Any or all household members must be accounted for on this application and listed on the waiver later in this application. Any household member under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of all volunteer events or activities. No drop-offs.

Volunteers must be able to secure their own transportation to/from events or activities. We do not have the resources to provide transportation.

** Volunteer Service Hours ** Please do not submit this application if you are looking for service hours for yourself or your children. On an as-needed basis, service hours can be obtained through the following activities: independent supply drive, independent fundraiser, making hand-made "Thank You" notes, constructing feral cat enclosures, cleaning storage sheds, etc. Please send all inquiries regarding service hours opportunities to volunteering@pawsforlifenc.org.

Code of Conduct

Paws for Life NC is a non-profit business organization. As such, when representing our organization, we expect our volunteers to act in a positive and professional manner with our teammates and the public. Our goal is to provide a supportive team where people can focus their energy on helping as many animals as possible. We often deal with situations that can be emotional in nature, but we must remain professional and treat the public and our teammates with respect and courtesy. Paws for Life NC will not condone comments or language from our members to the public or each other that are insulting threatening, offensive, or discriminatory. In severe cases or after multiple infractions, offending members will be removed from our volunteer group. When submitting this application, you are agreeing to adhere to the code of conduct.

Paws for Life NC Liability Waiver

I, (hereinafter "Volunteer"), for valuable consideration namely benefiting, fostering, handling, working with, transporting, and/or otherwise volunteering on behalf of dogs, cats, and/or other animals (hereinafter "Animals") from Paws for Life NC, do hereby release Paws for Life NC, its officers, directors, agents, volunteers, affiliates and all of its agents and/or persons acting on behalf as the context permits, from any and all claims, actions, causes of action, remedies and complaints of any kind which I may have had, now have or which might arise at any future time, whether known or unknown, arising out of or relating to the Animals, or my foster or volunteer work for the Paws for Life NC, including but not limited to all claims for personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, all claims resulting from any injury inflicted by the Animals, or any other injury/damage. I understand and acknowledge that the services I provide pursuant to this agreement to the Paws for Life NC may include activities that are hazardous to myself, my property, or persons coming into contact with the Animals including, but not limited to activities involving inherently dangerous activities. I recognize and accept all risks associated with unpredictable animal behavior. I specifically assume all risks arising out of or relating to the care and handling of the Animals. I recognize that the Paws for Life NC makes no representations whatsoever as to the past history of the Animals and whether or not they are safe animals. I understand that the scope of my relationship with the Paws for Life NC is limited to a volunteer position and that no compensation is expected in return for services provided by Volunteer. Volunteer is responsible for his/her own insurance coverage in the event of personal injury or illness as a result of my services to the Paws for Life NC. As a volunteer, I hereby agree that this Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of North Carolina and that this Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of North Carolina. I agree that in the event that any clause or provision of this Release is deemed invalid, the enforceability of the remaining provisions of this Release shall not be affected. I agree to indemnify, hold harmless, and assume all costs related to any claims I may file in the future against Paws for Life NC for defending the same. By signing below, I fully agree and acknowledge my assent to this Release and Waiver of Liability willingly and voluntarily.

Fundraising and Publicity--Assist in planning, organizing and executing fundraisers, supply drives and community outreach events.Dog Adoptathon Staffing-- Paws for Life NC adoptathons are held every Saturday, rotating between the Wake Forest PetSmart and Petco stores. Adoptathons provide those interested in adopting a dog an opportunity to meet our wonderful animals. They also provide us, as volunteers, an opportunity to meet prospective adoptive owners and answer their questions. . Rescue Transports-Rescue transports deliver dogs and cats from local overcrowded shelters to northern rescues. Drivers are needed to drive different legs of the transports. Our leg is usually from Youngsville or Wake Forest to South Hill, VA and typically occurs on SaturdaysLocal Dog/Cat Transports-Provide transportation of dogs/cats to and from adoptathons, vet appointments, shelter to vet or other locations as neededCleaning Cat Condos-Paws for Life NC has the privilege of showcasing our cats at the Wake Forest and Pleasant Valley (Raleigh) Petco stores and at the PetSense (Raleigh) cat condos every week. Each of these condos must be cleaned daily. We also have a cat building in Franklinton that needs to be deep-cleaned every weekend. Volunteers can help clean the condos, socialize cats, and set up for events. Cat Care - at our Partner Cat Cafe in Wake Forest, primarily afternoons/eveningsWalking dogs- Walk and socialize foster dog's at Audrey's Barkyard in Wake Forest. Please keep in mind you must be 18 years old to walk dogs and many of the dogs are not leash trained
