Happy Feet Pet Rescue Volunteer Form

Please input the following information for who Happy Feet Pet Rescue should contact on your behalf if an emergency should occur. 

Staff and volunteers shall be governed by the ordinary and reasonable rules of good conduct. Staff and volunteers will not commit any act that would bring reproach or discredit upon Happy Feet Pet Rescue.

I agree to maintain exemplary standards of professional conduct in the following areas:

● I will be dependable- including attending all shifts that I sign up for, on time, and completing all tasks included in that shift. If I am unable to do so, I will reach out to Happy Feet Coordinators immediately.

● I will be professional, courteous, and honest in my dealings with the public and with those involved with Happy Feet Pet Rescue.

● I will route questions, concerns, and ideas regarding Happy Feet Pet Rescue through proper channels, i.e. Happy Feet Coordinators.

● I will promote and support the programs of the Happy Feet Pet Rescue in ways that are ethical and appropriate.

● I will follow established procedures while on Happy Feet Pet Rescue property, attending Happy Feet Pet Rescue events, and/or while conducting business off property for the Happy Feet Pet Rescue.

● I will immediately report any accident, injury, or bite that I am a party to or witness of to the coordinator on duty. This includes incidents involving staff, volunteers, and animals.

● I will maintain the confidentiality of all privileged information that I have access to in my capacity as a volunteer including, but not limited to, client information and the status of animals not available for adoption.

● I will be responsible for exercising good judgement in my clothing choices, understanding that animals may scratch exposed skin or dangling piercings. I will also wear close-toed shoes while attending any dog shift.

● I will promote Happy Feet Pet Rescue’s No Judgement Policy during all interactions I have while volunteering and working with Happy Feet Pet Rescue. I understand I will be working with people from all walks of life, with varying education on the treatment of animals. I will respect them all equally, and keep all opinions and judgements to myself.

● I will not commit any inhumane act toward any animal (kicking, taunting, hitting, pinching, squeezing, water bottle spraying, etc.).

● I will not discriminate against fellow volunteers, fosters, patrons, veterinarian staff, or any individuals I interact with during my duties on behalf of Happy Feet Pet Rescue based on national origin, race, color, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or familial status.

● I will not use my platform with Happy Feet Pet Rescue to advocate for/against any behaviors or treatment of animals that Happy Feet Pet Rescue has not already publicly advocated for/against.

● I will not threaten, intimidate, coerce, or be disruptive while on Happy Feet Pet Rescue property, while attending Happy Feet Pet Rescue events, or while performing any duty on behalf of the Happy Feet Pet Rescue.

● I will not enter unauthorized limited access areas within the Happy Feet Pet Rescue Building unless I have been given permission to do so or I am accompanied by a staff member authorized to access such areas.

● I will not use, sell, or purchase alcohol or recreational drugs of any kind while on Happy Feet Pet Rescue property or while performing any duty on behalf of the Happy Feet Pet Rescue. (Note: Social drinking is permitted at Happy Feet Pet Rescue events where alcohol is served.)

● I will not use or possess firearms or weapons of any kind on Happy Feet Pet Rescue property, at Happy Feet Pet Rescue events, or while performing any duty on behalf of the Happy Feet Pet Rescue.

● I will not engage in theft of Happy Feet Pet Rescue property or dishonest acts of any kind.

● I will not speak of Happy Feet Pet Rescue in a manner that is defamatory or destructive to the organization and its mission and I will offer constructive and critical feedback through proper channels i.e. Happy Feet Pet Rescue Coordinators.

● I will not speak on behalf of Happy Feet Pet Rescue to any source of the media. I will direct the media to Happy Feet Pet Rescue Coordinators.

This Release and Waiver of Liability (the "Release") executed on this day  (the "Volunteer") in favor of Happy Feet Pet Rescue, and its directors officers, employees, and agents.

The Volunteer desires to work as a volunteer for Happy Feet Pet Rescue and engage in the activities related to being a volunteer for Happy Feet Pet Rescue (the "Activities"). The Volunteer understands that the activities may include but are not limited to handling animals of all sizes and temperaments, cleaning cages, walking dogs, attending offsite adoption and fundraising events, participating in fundraising/food/supply drives, soliciting donations, working at various locations, assisting in the display and adoption of animals at various locations including but not limited to stores and festivals, transporting animals from one location to another (if of legal driving age and having a valid license and insurance) and other duties and activities as the need arises.

The Volunteer hereby freely, voluntarily, and without duress executes this Release under the following terms:

1. Release and Waiver: Volunteer does hereby release and forever discharge and hold harmless Happy Feet Pet Rescue and its successors and assigns from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, that arise or may hereafter arise from Volunteer's Activities with Happy Feet Pet Rescue. VOLUNTEER UNDERSTANDS THAT THIS RELEASE DISCHARGES HAPPY FEET PET RESCUE FROM ANY LIABILITY OR CLAIM THAT THE VOLUNTEER MAY HAVE AGAINST HAPPY FEET PET RESCUE WITH RESPECT TO ANY BODILY INJURY, PERSONAL INJURY, ILLNESS, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE THAT MAY RESULT FROM VOLUNTEER'S ACTIVITIES WITH HAPPY FEET PET RESCUE, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF HAPPY FEET PET RESCUE OR ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS OR OTHERWISE. VOLUNTEER ALSO UNDERSTANDS THAT HAPPY FEET PET RESCUE DOES NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR OR OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OR OTHER ASSISTANCE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MEDICAL, HEALTH, OR DISABILITY INSURANCE IN THE EVENT OF INJURY OR ILLNESS.

2. Medical Treatment: Volunteer does hereby release and forever discharge Happy Feet Pet Rescue from any claim whatsoever which arises or may hereafter arise on account of any first aid, treatment, or service rendered in connection with the Volunteer's Activities with Happy Feet Pet Rescue.

3. Assumption of the Risk: The Volunteer understands that the Activities may involve work that may be hazardous to the Volunteer, including, but not limited to,handling animals of all sizes and temperaments, cleaning cages, walking dogs, attending offsite adoption and fundraising events, participating in fundraising/food/supply drives, soliciting donations, working at various locations, assisting in the display and adoption of animals at various locations including but not limited to stores and festivals, transporting animals from one location to another (if of legal driving age and having a valid license and insurance) and other duties and activities as the need arises, and transportation to and from the work sites. Volunteer hereby expressly and specifically assumes the risk of injury or harm in the Activities, and releases Happy Feet Pet Rescue from all liability for injury, illness, death, or property damage resulting from the Activities.

4. Insurance: The Volunteer understands that, except as otherwise agreed to by Happy Feet Pet Rescue in writing, Happy Feet Pet Rescue does not carry or maintain health, medical, or disability insurance coverage for any Volunteer. Each Volunteer is expected and encouraged to obtain his or her own medical or health insurance coverage. I represent that, to my knowledge, I am in good health and suffer no physical impairment that would or should prevent my participation in Volunteer Activities.

5. Photographic Release: Volunteer does hereby grant and convey unto Happy Feet Pet Rescue all right, title, and interest in any and all photographic images and video or audio recordings made by Happy Feet Pet Rescue during the Volunteer's Activities with Happy Feet Pet Rescue, including, but not limited to, any royalties, proceeds, or other benefits derived from such photographs or recordings.

6. Other: Volunteer expressly agrees that this Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Michigan or the state in which volunteer work is being done, and that this Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan or the state in which the volunteer work is being done. Volunteer also agrees that in the event that any clause or provision of this Release shall be held to be invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such clause or provision shall not otherwise affect the remaining provisions of this Release which shall continue to be enforceable.
