I/We agree that the rescue makes no representations or warranties, expressed or implied, about said animal's condition, health, or temperament, and is hereby absolved from any liability for future claims, legal actions, losses, damages or injuries caused by said animal, starting the moment the animal is handed over to the new owners.
I/We acknowledge that Three Little Pitties Rescue has provided in good faith what it believes to be appropriate veterinary and other information about this dog, that the dog is provided by Three LIttle Pitties Rescue “as is”, so that the dog’s temperament, health, habits and physical condition are not guaranteed. Adoption fees cannot be refunded to assist with medical care after adoption.
I/We agree and understand that, although the dog has received a veterinary examination and vaccinations disclosed in the records I/We have received, there may be other needs. I/We recognize and agree that these are not the responsibility of Three Little Pitties Rescue and that, upon adoption, I/We must assume full responsibility for any veterinary care and any other issues related to the dog’s wellbeing.
I/We agree and understand that I am adopting a rescue dog and that, in doing so, I am continuing with the dog’s rescue.
_I/We acknowledge that I/We are responsible for any harm or damage my/our new pet may inflict on any person, animal, or property once I/We take physical possession of said pet. I/We commit to set my/our pet up for success with structured interactions and appropriate leash usage. For dogs, I/We understand that the rescue does not condone dog park visits in the first several months of ownership while getting to know my/our new pet and its personality and preferences.
I/We agree to be a responsible pet owner with the upkeep of vaccinations as recommended for my/our region and by AAHA guidelines, to obtain veterinary care as necessary, invest in doggy daycare and training as necessary, and do everything in my/our power to be the parent(s) my/our pet needs me/us to be for the rest of its life.
I/We agree to obey any and all animal control regulations governing the area in which I/We live, and to license this dog according to such regulations within one month of adoption.
_I/We understand that it can take several weeks for my/our new pet to adjust to the new routine and environment and “settle in” upon entering my/our home. I/We agree to show my/our new pet love and patience and do everything in my/our power to set my/our new pet up for success in my/our home. I/We agree to utilize a crate upon arrival (Adult dogs: minimum of two 3-4 hour day time sessions, paired with appropriate exercise, mental stimulation, and dog/human socialization, and dog/human socialization throughout the day. Adjust accordingly based on dog's needs.) to allow my/our new pet a space to properly decompress, create routine and structure, set clear boundaries, build independence and prevent unhealthy attachments. I/We agree not to allow our new pet to sleep in the bed with us until structure and boundaries have been established. I/We understand that not following the suggested routing may lead to my/our new pet taking longer to adjust into their new environment, developing difficult to manage and/or dominant behaviors.
I/We understand the requirement to follow the decompression instructions listed at the link (very important that you review these!) https://threelittlepittiesrescue.org/important and that I/We will watch the video and will follow the guidelines for slow introductions and allowing proper decompression once arriving in my/our home.
I/We agree to spay/neuter our puppy or kitten by 5 months old if said pet is not already altered. All 3LP pets are either spayed/neutered before adoption or they will be adopted with a spay/neuter voucher to have the procedure done at one of our approved clinics listed on the voucher. If you choose to have your pet spay/neutered at your own vet, that is acceptable. I/We agree to provide proof of the spay/neuter as soon as the procedure is completed (by 5 months of age).
I/We agree to register the pet’s microchip within 48 hours of receiving the new pet, and to replace the Three Little Pitties Rescue Tag to my/our own contact information.
I/We agree to the adoption fee listed on the pet profile to be paid via Flipcause at the time of signing.
For dog adoptions: I/We understand that this animal has tested negative for heartworms, or has completed treatment, or is too young to test positive. I/We understand that, due to the delay between infection and the ability of a test to detect infection, the rescue cannot guarantee that the pet will remain heartworm negative. Keeping said pet on heartworm prevention lowers the dog's chance of testing positive later and protects against reproduction of possible heartworms until complete die-off. I/We agree it is my/our responsibility as this pet's new owner(s) to purchase the heartworm prevention and give it monthly. At the six month adoption mark, the dog must be re-tested for heartworms. Should the dog test positive, it is the adopter’s responsibility to treat the heartworms. Local Texas adoptions shall agree to keep the pet on prevention for the entirety of the pet's life.
I/We understand that Three Little Pitties Rescue has no knowledge that this dog has had any incident of aggression or history of aggression towards other pets or people. I/We understand that Three Little Pitties Rescue cannot and will not intake a dog that has been deemed aggressive. An aggressive dog is 1. Responsible for inflicting injury on a human being on public property or private property. 2. Responsible for killing or inflicting severe injury on a domestic animal while off the owner's property; 3. Used in the commission of a crime; 4. Previously under investigation and deemed to be dangerous by Animal Control and/or local authorities; or surrendered with a known history of biting or other aggressive behavior by the prior owner, government entity or animal behaviorist.
I/We agree not to sell, trade ownership, abandon, or dispose of this dog in any way, but to notify Three Little Pitties Rescue if I/We must relinquish custody of the dog for any reason. I/We understand that THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ON ADOPTION FEES. If a dog is returned, your adoption fee becomes a tax deductible donation. Certain RARE circumstances may warrant a partial refund. I/We understand that adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment that requires time, patience, training, medical and basic care, and often times a complete lifestyle change. If efforts to work things out are not fully exhausted; proper and a fair decompression time, slow introductions with other pets in the home, crate training, proof of working with a trainer/animal behaviorist, etc. the adoption fee is forfeited. If the dog is being returned after having been in a home for months or years, we ask adopters for a $150 donation to assist in its continued care. Said dog will require an assessment by a rescue representative prior to being accepted back into the adoption program. Three Little Pitties is unable to accept any returned dogs that have exhibited serious aggression towards humans or viciously attacked another dog.
I am an adult making a conscious decision to bring a live animal into my home which may be very difficult and life-changing, but I am committed to make it work, hire a trainer, and love this animal as my family member, no matter what. I understand once I adopt this dog, the rescuers will move on to save other lives in danger and I am now responsible for this animal for the rest of its life and I take that very seriously with iron-will determination to make it work.
