About Peach - Special Needs

Peach is a very unique, Special Needs lady who is about 2.5-years-old. She is believed to be some sort of Shepherd mix and she weighs 45 pounds.

Peach is an extremely Sweet and Loving girl and she is great with kids, other dogs, and even cats but can be a little fearful and snappish with men. She rides well in the car and is a terrific dog. She is currently in a foster home with several other dogs and two cats. She is crate trained and finds comfort in her "home".  Gentle and smart she is great in a fenced-in yard. While she gets along with others she would love all of the attention.

Peach was born with a rectovaginal fistula with anal atresia. In more understandable language, she has no butthole and she poops out of her vagina. She has lived a very normal life with this condition, up until now, so we are fairly certain that she will be fine going forward.

Some rescues would not even consider placing a dog like Peach. We knew what a Love she is and so now she is here and ready to find her Forever Home. If you want to be the Special Place for this very Special Girl, Peach is READY. Please contact us with any questions.

You can apply to adopt Peach at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.

Adoption Fee: $350

Abby is a sweet girl who found herself in rescue because her owner was unable to have any pets. Mostly Muttz's sister-shelter in the South stepped into rescue her. Their volunteers found her to be "a wonderful, loving dog". Abby is 5 years-old and 45 pounds. This brown-coated sweetie is friendly to other dogs, and lived with several in her southern foster home. She loved to play with them, but a home with other dogs is not necessary for Abby. This girl also lived with a cat, but she liked to taste his food when she had the chance. In fact, she should probably be fed separately from other animals. Abby likes children. She is reliably house trained and recently learned about crate training - she is doing great! Abby has been the perfect house guest. She likes to go outside and lounge in the fenced yard with the other dogs. She enjoys the choice of staying inside or going outside. A nice walk on a leash is also something she loves. This beautiful dog loves to be petted and if you stop, she will remind you to continue by putting her paw on your shoulder - it's the cutest thing! This lovely lady is current with all vaccines and ready to find her furever home in Pennsylvania. Are you the one to give Abby a permanent place to rest her head? You can apply to adopt Abby at https://www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

10/19 Dash (Bagpipe) is still looking for a home that will provide him patience and guidance.  This home must not have children in it.  He does not like them.   He also may not be an apartment type of pup.  The hound dog mix in him likes to be quite vocal at times.   He is still a tad timid and will not be good in a busy environment setting.     He is however, loving and goofy with his family and other dogs.    If you can provide him with stability, patience and continued training then send in your application to adopt/meet him.      8/6/19 - Outgoing, spunky, sweet, athletic and loveable.... all of these words describe this pup.   He is eagerly awaiting his own home.  Foster homes are fun but forever homes are better.   Recently he got to hang out with one of his litter siblings and they had a blast.    Bagpipe (Dash) is a sweetheart.  He is housetrained, knows many tricks/commands and he's ready to move into your home/hearts.    He's in a home with 7 other dogs of assorted sizes and is a friend to them all.    7/14/2019  Bagpipe (DASH) checking in.    He's been a wonderfully fun boy to foster.  He is sweet, mild mannered and now that he learned that visitors no longer pose a danger to him being abused, he's eager to meet more.    This kid needs plenty of exercise as he's still a puppy in a big boys body.   No felines for him and no small children please.     One of his favorite games is "chase me".   He wants to have a toy and you chase him for it.   He loves to retrieve balls in the yard as well.   He's completely house trained as well as crate trained.         5/30/2019 Through no fault of his own, Bagpipe is back in rescue again.   He's a large boy with a timid nature.  He's great with other dogs and is hoping but it's not a deal breaker - to find a home with another dog in it.    He is crate trained, takes treats very gently from you and he's fun.  He's goofy, loves to give out slobbery kisses and likes to be near his humans when they're home.     He's been meeting all sorts of new people in foster and is becomming eager to meet more = is that you?    This Lil Bruiser is Bagpipe. He and his siblings from the "musical instrument" litter were born on 9/21/18. Applications can be taken for these pups but they will not be available to go to their homes until November 16th. They are playful and adorable and will make great family dogs. You can apply to adopt Bagpipe at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Becks is a pale pooch with a lot of personality. She is a 5-year-old perky Pittie-girl with dalmatian-like spots on her ears (they're so cute!). Her ideal home would be an active one. She would love to be a running/jogging partner or a hiking companion. Some of us think she might be part fish because she loves to swim. But there are few things Becks Loves as much as playing ball. That is her absolute favorite! This beautiful girl is a very people-oriented dog and she loves children. When she finally takes a break from being her usual active self, she becomes a super snuggler. Loving you and having you love her is at the core of Becks. She loves with her whole heart. Having fun and loving you is what Becks is all about. She is housebroken and crate-trained and does well with basic commands. She is smart and food motivated, so a good treat will nudge her to excel at any given command. She is amazingly comfortable in the car and excellent on a leash.  Becks is a terrific best friend. Because she is so into her people, a home where she is the only pet would be ideal. That said, she does like male dogs who are laid back and let her be the boss. A meeting between this beauty and any other dog in the home would necessary. No cats for this girl, though. Becks is a very unique package of canine character. Are YOU ready to open your home to Becks? You can apply to adopt Becks at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

At Chesterfield County Animal Services in South Carolina, Kimbo is a long time favorite.  Here is what one volunteer had to say about him: "Good afternoon, Where do I even start… We have a very special case. Kimbo came to our shelter in Chesterfield SC years ago. Kimbo was taken from a home that had several dogs tied out and severely neglected. The owner passed away and all these animals were left with his wife and she could not care for them. He was NOT dog friendly and was heartworm positive when he came in, he is now heartworm negative. After this many years living at the shelter, everyone has fallen in love with him. The shelter staff treat him as if he was their own. He loves living at the shelter and is not broken by it. He is a happy sweet, smooshy face who loves to run and play tug-o-war and fetch and ADORES people and kids. However, we, the volunteers, have watched his face grey and his wiggly body age and we KNOW there has to be a better life for him. He has watched hundreds upon hundreds of dogs come in and leave but it is never his turn. After all of these years some volunteers did a brief dog test with him on leash and he did fine. He recently had the opportunity to go have a mini-vacation with one of our volunteers who has 3 other dogs. He has met all of them through the door and through his crate. The only time he growled or showed any improper behavior was when one of the volunteers dogs growled at him first and he growled back. No lunging etc. She has been taking him on walks with her female and he mostly ignores her. They have let her off leash and she has sniffed him and he didn’t care at all. They have walked past barking, howling coondogs that were running around a neighbor’s yard only contained by an invisible fence and while he was interested in the ruckus he was very easily redirected. While we do think he should live in his forever home as an only dog, he can easily be around other dogs on leash without any issues.  We really feel now that he has had a taste freedom he really really deserves a chance. With a knowledgeable owner we really believe that he will flourish and be able to live his best life. We estimate him to be about 8+ years old so he definitely deserves a soft spot to lay his.  We are truly desperate to find this guy his forever home. While he doesn’t mind the shelter, as it is the only place he has ever known love, I know that he deserves so much more. We fear that one day his sweet little body will give out and he will pass away of old age on a cold concrete floor all alone. We understand that this is a huge undertaking for someone to take on, a black, senior pit bull that has spent more than half his life behind bars. BUT I just know he can do it, I know he can love someone with all his being and he deserves that chance, so I will beg and beg until someone sees what I see. Thank you." Mostly Muttz Rescue is hoping to make Kimbo's dream of a furever home come true.  While he currently resides in South Carolina, for an approved adopter willing to love him forever, Mostly Muttz Rescue can transport him and adopt him out through our rescue.  So, if you know what it is like to be passed over again and again, maybe Kimbo is the kindred spirit you've been looking for.  You can apply to adopt Kimbo at www.mostlymuttz.org. show less

Nibs is a 4-month-old Hound mix puppy with a Sleek Black Coat. He weighs about 20 pounds and is all legs. This happy guy is Playful, Smart and Affectionate. Nibs is almost fully housebroken with only a few accidents here and there. He is not all that crazy about being crated but goes in willingly on command. He will bark for a bit but settles down after a few minutes. Nibs walks good on a leash and is a good car rider (see picture). Nibs is fine with other dogs but needs a specific type of introduction that does not involve a face-to-face meeting while on a leash. With a proper intro and some time around the other dog, once he is comfortable, he will gladly play. Nibs is not one to be pushed around by other dogs though. He will stick up for himself, so a home with another dog with an equally strong personality would not be a good fit. He loves all people but loves "his person" the most. He has become quite the "momma's boy", following his foster mom around and laying in her lap whenever she's sitting. Although Nibs is an active puppy he also loves his snuggle time. He knows the word "no", which is half the battle for a new puppy. He is very treat motivated and learns quickly. Nibs can climb a 4 foot metal pen so he would ALWAYS need to be supervised in a yard with a mesh fence. Solid fences or even no fence requiring a leash when outside would be fine. Those long legs serve him well for climbing, running, and jumping so he would be an excellent hiking partner. Nibs is neutered, microchipped, and has all age appropriate vaccines. You can apply to adopt Nibs at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

Q is a very unique boy. He has had a terrible past of spending his life up to the time of his rescue of living in a crate in a basement. Could you imagine never seeing the light of day or walking and feeling the earth under your feet? Q will love his person unconditionally but he needs time to know you are his person. Can you give him that time? Q-tip or just Q is a very sweet older boy. He weighs in at 30 - 35 pounds. We think he is a chihuahua mix. At 9 years old he led a very hard life of being locked in a cage in a basement living in his own filth. What his WV foster and his PA foster have learned is that he just wants to lay on your lap in a blanket and be loved. Q-tip will lay on the back of the couch and look out the window and wait for your return, so leave the blinds up a bit so he can see. He is great on a leash. While walking, fast cars or trucks might scare him, but that is getting less and less. He likes other dogs as long if they are laid back. If the dogs are energetic and in his face, he will growl and retreat for safety. He has shown bouts of play, but when it gets too high energy he panics. Cats seem to be a sense of curiosity for him and he is overly curious. If they hiss or swat and hiss at them he may begin to ignore them. He is crate trained, he might whine for less than 5 minutes but will settle after that. He loves ALL people. He no longer has a nervous shake. Do you have room in your home and heart for this special boy? You can apply to adopt Q-Tip at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Our sweet, happy go lucky people loving Rajah has made some changes. She has slimmed down to a mere 41 pounds. Which now means she can enjoy even more activities with her people. She also had surgery to remove her eye, which she was blind in already, but her drops were no longer doing their job, so it needed to be removed to stop the pain. Rajah came through her surgery with flying colors and now no longer has to worry about any meds. So Rajah is a new and improved model and all she needs now is her family to love with all of her might. Could you be her family? Rajah is a sweet fun loving girl. Don't let the fact that she is blind stop you in your tracks for loving her because it doesn't stop Rajah in the least. She loves life, enjoys her people and likes to play with her small group of dog friends. She can be dog selective, and seems to like submissive males the best. Rajah would love a family of her very own that she can shower with all the love she has inside for her people. Would you like to give Rajah a chance to show you just how much love she has to offer!!! Sweet Rajah lost her vision due to Glaucoma. She is a beagle mix who is good with other dogs, and kids. Her owner could no longer care for her, so Mostly Muttz Rescue stepped forward to help this precious girl. If you love specials needs pups as much as we do, apply today for this beautiful girl! This Handsome Hunk of a dog is 2-year-old Samson. Check out his gorgeous eyes. He is 65 pounds of people luvin' pittie boy. There are many reasons that Samson is a volunteer favorite in two states, not the least of which is his inclination toward giving warm doggie kisses. He is a MAJOR people lover who just wants to give affection all day!  Samson walks superbly on a leash. He is great with kids and has a gentle overall demeanor. He is not high energy but rather blends with the energy level of his people. This guy is very responsive to commands and he is that rare dog who prefers praise over treats.  Samson's start in life was not ideal. He was not shown the kind of love every dog deserves. Because of this Samson can only be placed in a home without other pets. He is perfectly fine when he is out on a walk and he encounters other animals and he can be in a yard and see them nearby without reacting. He is such a Special dog that we know there is someone out there who will want to be his one and only. There are some dogs that come along in rescue who everyone just pulls for totally and Samson is one of those dogs. The way his life started will never matter again once he is in his furever home. Is your home "The One" for Samson? You can apply to adopt Samson at https://www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Samuel is a 3-year-old, 45 pound Pittie mix with a sleek black coat and slender body. He has a handsome pittie face that will melt your heart and make you swoon. This friendly and gregarious boy is energetic, especially when it comes to taking walks. Samuel is always up for a good walk or run! This young guy has spent time in a home, where he displayed medium energy level and often chose the comfort of his own crate so he could observe happenings around him. Samuel loves all things comfy - beds, bean bag chairs, you name it. This bright boy knows some basic commands and is treat motivated, which is always helpful when working on new commands. Samuel would prefer a home without a lot of fast movement, as that can make him uncomfortable at times. Of course, this guy can provide his own fast movement - just give him a toy. He loves to shake a rope toy or stuffed toy back and forth. It is so much fun and can occupy him for a long time. Just look at the video of Samuel with his stuffed dog toy. MMR volunteers find Samuel to be a happy dog and enjoy spending time with him. Samuel loves to ride in the car and does well on a leash. He is generally good with other dogs, but would need the right dog companion. No cats for this boy and only older considerate children. Do you have a soft spot in your heart and home for this lovely pittie to land? He would love to be your pittie pal.
