About Peach - Special Needs

Peach is a very unique, Special Needs lady who is about 2.5-years-old. She is believed to be some sort of Shepherd mix and she weighs 50 pounds.

Peach is very Sweet and Loving and she is great with EVERYONE, including kids, other dogs, and even cats. She rides well in the car and is a terrific dog. She is currently in a foster home with several other dogs and two cats. She is crate trained and finds comfort in her "home".  Gentle and smart she is great in a fenced in yard. While she gets along with others she would love all of the attention.

Peach was born with rectovaginal fistula with anal atresia. In more understandable language, she has no butthole and she poops out of her vagina. She is currently being evaluated now that she is here in PA. She has lived a very normal life with this condition, up until now, so we are fairly certain that she will be fine going forward.

Some rescues would not even consider placing a dog like Peach. We knew what a Love she is and so now she is here and ready to find her Forever Home. If you want to be the Special Place for this very Special Girl, Peach is READY. Please contact us with any questions.

You can apply to adopt Peach at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.

Adoption Fee: $350

7/14/2019  Bagpipe (DASH) checking in.    He's been a wonderfully fun boy to foster.  He is sweet, mild mannered and now that he learned that visitors no longer pose a danger to him being abused, he's eager to meet more.    This kid needs plenty of exercise as he's still a puppy in a big boys body.   No felines for him and no small children please.     One of his favorite games is "chase me".   He wants to have a toy and you chase him for it.   He loves to retrieve balls in the yard as well.   He's completely house trained as well as crate trained.         5/30/2019 Through no fault of his own, Bagpipe is back in rescue again.   He's a large boy with a timid nature.  He's great with other dogs and is hoping but it's not a deal breaker - to find a home with another dog in it.    He is crate trained, takes treats very gently from you and he's fun.  He's goofy, loves to give out slobbery kisses and likes to be near his humans when they're home.     He's been meeting all sorts of new people in foster and is becomming eager to meet more = is that you?    This Lil Bruiser is Bagpipe. He and his siblings from the "musical instrument" litter were born on 9/21/18. Applications can be taken for these pups but they will not be available to go to their homes until November 16th. They are playful and adorable and will make great family dogs. You can apply to adopt Bagpipe at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Becks is a Pale Pooch with a lot of personality. She is a 4-year-old Perky Pittie-Girl with dalmation-like spots on her ears (they're so cute!). Her ideal home would be an active one. She would love to be a running/jogging partner or a hiking companion. Some of us think she might be part FISH! She LOVES to SWIM. There are few things Becks Loves as much as playing BALL.  Becks is a very people oriented dog and she loves kids. When she finally takes a break from being her usual active self, she becomes a SUPER SNUGGLER. Lovin' on YOU and having you love on her is one of her Favorite things. Having Fun and Loving You is what Becks is all about. Becks is housebroken and crate-trained and does well with basic commands. She is smart and food motivated, so a good treat will nudge her to excel at any given command. She is amazingly comfortable in the car and excellent on a leash.  Because Becks is so into her people, a home where she is the only pet would be Ideal. She would be a Terrific Best Friend to a Single Person. That said, she does like male dogs who are laid back and who let her be the Boss. A meeting between this Beauty and any other dog in the home is a MUST. Definitely, no cats for this girl. Becks is a very unique package of Canine Character. Are YOU ready to take a run with Becks? You can apply to adopt Becks at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

Eda is a 65 pound Boxer/Shepherd mix with a beautiful red fawn coat, white feet and a splash of white on her chest. She is a happy girl and her nub wags at the slightest bit of attention. She loves to be with people and will follow you around the house. Eda loves to snuggle on the couch and will roll over for belly rubs. Eda is energetic, housebroken and does well walking with an Easy Walk Harness. She knows most basic commands (come, sit, lay down, give a paw). Overall, she is a medium energy dog who occasionally gets excited and runs puppy laps around the yard. In the house, Eda loves to play fetch with her toy duckie. Eda is crate trained and is respectful of her foster home when left alone in the house. She loves car rides and is a great traveler. During a ride you might find her napping on a lap or on the back seat.  Eda is cautious with new people and they must be introduced slowly and carefully in order to gain her trust. Once she does trust you though, she will give you ALL of her love. She requires a home with older, considerate children where she can be the only pet in the house. She is not good with other dogs or cats. In a home where she is the only pet, she will love you, cuddle with you and shower you with kisses.  Eda has waited so long to find just the right person, who can love her for all the things she is - someone for whom her limitations are of no concern. Could that person be YOU? You can apply to adopt Eda at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

At Chesterfield County Animal Services in South Carolina, Kimbo is a long time favorite.  Here is what one volunteer had to say about him: "Good afternoon, Where do I even start… We have a very special case. Kimbo came to our shelter in Chesterfield SC years ago. Kimbo was taken from a home that had several dogs tied out and severely neglected. The owner passed away and all these animals were left with his wife and she could not care for them. He was NOT dog friendly and was heartworm positive when he came in, he is now hw neg. After this many years living at the shelter, everyone has fallen in love with him. The shelter staff treat him as if he was their own. He loves living at the shelter and is not broken by it. He is a happy sweet, smooshy face who loves to run and play tug-o-war and fetch and ADORES people and kids. However, we, the volunteers, have watched his face grey and his wiggly body age and we KNOW there has to be a better life for him. He has watched hundreds upon hundreds of dogs come in and leave but it is never his turn. After all of these years some volunteers did a brief dog test with him on leash and he did fine. He recently had the opportunity to go have a mini-vacation with one of our volunteers who has 3 other dogs. He has met all of them through the door and through his crate. The only time he growled or showed any improper behavior was when one of the volunteers dogs growled at him first and he growled back. No lunging etc. She has been taking him on walks with her female and he mostly ignores her. They have let her off leash and she has sniffed him and he didn’t care at all. They have walked past barking, howling coondogs that were running around a neighbor’s yard only contained by an invisible fence and while he was interested in the ruckus he was very easily redirected. While we do think he should live in his forever home as an only dog, he can easily be around other dogs on leash without any issues.  We really feel now that he has had a taste freedom he really really deserves a chance. With a knowledgeable owner we really believe that he will flourish and be able to live out his last days. We estimate him to be about 8+ years old so he definitely deserves a soft spot to lay his.  We are truly desperate to find this guy his forever home. While he doesn’t mind the shelter, as it is the only place he has ever known love, I know that he deserves so much more. We fear that one day his sweet little body will give out and he will pass away of old age on a cold concrete floor all alone. We understand that this is a huge undertaking for someone to take on, a black, senior pit bull that has spent more than half his life behind bars. BUT I just know he can do it, I know he can love someone with all his being and he deserves that chance, so I will beg and beg until someone sees what I see. Thank you." Mostly Muttz Rescue is hoping to make Kimbo's dream of a furever home come true.  While he currently resides in South Carolina, for an approved adopter willing to love him forever, Mostly Muttz Rescue can transport him and adopt him out through our rescue.  So, if you know what it is like to be passed over again and again, maybe Kimbo is the kindred spirit you've been looking for.  You can apply to adopt Kimbo at www.mostlymuttz.org. show less

Lexie is a beautiful yet shy lab/hound mix. She has a unique white coat with brown spots. Her demeanor is very sweet and she loves people. This girl soaks up all the love she is shown and gives it back twofold. Lexie is good with other dogs and kids. Her foster Mom is working on her house-training. No crates for this young lady. She gets a lot of anxiety from being confined. She does very well when left alone as long as she is not confined in a small place. Lexie is a terrific dog who simply needs a patient adopter who is willing to let her get comfortable in her own way, at her own pace. If given that patient approach, this wonderful girl will show you how glad she is that you are hers. Are you the one to give all your love to Lexie?  Lexie is apprehensive around males and she will need to have a physically fenced in yard (6 ft. privacy) would be ideal.                                Lexie has come a long way. She is well behaved in the home and although her crate is still not her favorite place to be, after all her original owner had her crated way too many hours and in a crate way too small for her, she can managed a few hours at a time, as long as it is a vari kennel, no wire crates will do. She has mastered house training and manners and once she gets to know them she has even become comfortable around men. She is still very shy at first and will still need patience but the reward will be well worth it for this beautiful smart fun loving girl. Won't you give Lexie a chance. Are you Obi's only hope? Obi is a beautiful 43-pound dog with magnificent markings and soft coat. This playful 2-year-old Hound/Shepherd mix is energetic but also loves to sleep in and snuggle next to you at night. He is a curious and active boy who appreciates the company of other dogs, is very friendly and warms up to people right away. Obi is house trained and crate trained but can be trusted outside the crate as well. He enjoys the outdoors, walks nicely on a leash, but is happy to peer out the window and play with his toys when he is in the house. Obi would do best in a home with older, considerate children. He loves his 11-year-old foster brother and was interested but very gentle with his infant and 2-year-old foster cousins that he recently had the opportunity to meet. Obi is smart, knows basic commands and loves to please. He is not very food motivated but appreciates praise. Obi loves affection and will lean in for neck rubs or belly rubs but is not a dog that needs constant attention. He seems to prefer his four legged foster siblings over anything else. This boy would do best in a home with other similar sized dogs. Do you have room in your heart and home for this quiet, yet active dog? Just look at that handsome face!  You can apply to adopt Obi at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less

Q is a very unique boy. He has had a terrible past of spending his life up to the time of his rescue of living in a crate in a basement. Could you imagjne never seeing the light of day or walking and feeling the earth under your feet. Q will love his person unconditionally but he needs time to know you are his person, can you give him that time ? Q-tip or just Q is a very sweet older boy. He weighs in at 30 - 35 pounds. We think he is a chihuahua mix. At 9 years old he led a very hard life of being locked in a cage in a basement living in his own filth. What his WV foster and his PA foster have learned is that he just wants to lay on your lap in a blanket and be loved. He will lay on the back of the couch and look out the window and wait for your return, so leave the blinds up a bit so he can see. He is great on a leash. While walking, fast cars or trucks might scare him, but that is getting less and less. He likes other dogs as long if they are laid back. If the dogs are energetic and in his face he will growl and retreat for safety. He has shown bouts of play, but when it gets to high energy he panics. Cats seem to be a sense of curiosity for him and he is overly curious. If they hiss or swat and hiss at them him may begin to ignore them. He is crate trained, he might whine for less than 5 minutes but will settle after that. He loves ALL people. He no longer has a nervous shake. Do you have room in your home and heart for this special boy? You can apply to adopt Q-Tip at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/. show less

Our sweet, happy go lucky people loving Rajah has made some changes. She has slimmed down to a mere 41 pounds. Which now means she can enjoy even more activities with her people. She also had surgery to remove her eye, which she was blind in already, but her drops were no longer doing their job, so it needed to be removed to stop the pain. Rajah came through her surgery with flying colors and now no longer has to worry about any meds. So Rajah is a new and improved model and all she needs now is her family to love with all of her might. Could you be her family? Rajah is a sweet fun loving girl. Don't let the fact that she is blind stop you in your tracks for loving her because it doesn't stop Rajah in the least. She loves life, enjoys her people and likes to play with her small group of dog friends. She can be dog selective, and seems to like submissive males the best. Rajah would love a family of her very own that she can shower with all the love she has inside for her people. Would you like to give Rajah a chance to show you just how much love she has to offer!!! Sweet Rajah lost her vision due to Glaucoma. She is a beagle mix who is good with other dogs, and kids. Her owner could no longer care for her, so Mostly Muttz Rescue stepped forward to help this precious girl. If you love specials needs pups as much as we do, apply today for this beautiful girl! This Handsome Hunk of a dog is 2-year-old Samson. Check out his gorgeous eyes. He is 65 pounds of people luvin' pittie boy. There are many reasons that Samson is a volunteer favorite in two states, not the least of which is his inclination toward giving warm doggie kisses. He is a MAJOR people lover who just wants to give affection all day!  Samson walks superbly on a leash. He is great with kids and has a gentle overall demeanor. He is not high energy but rather blends with the energy level of his people. This guy is very responsive to commands and he is that rare dog who prefers praise over treats.  Samson's start in life was not ideal. He was not shown the kind of love every dog deserves. Because of this Samson can only be placed in a home without other pets. He is perfectly fine when he is out on a walk and he encounters other animals and he can be in a yard and see them nearby without reacting. He is such a Special dog that we know there is someone out there who will want to be his one and only. There are some dogs that come along in rescue who everyone just pulls for totally, even despite any obstacles there might be to finding them the perfect home. Samson is one of those dogs. The way his life started will never matter again once he is in his furever home. Is your home "The One" for Samson? Woo Hoo for Twenty-Two. Twenty-Two - otherwise known as Fuzzy, is a beautiful brindle, white and brown Hound mix. This guy came from West Virginia with a sibling and his Mom. His striking coat is medium in length. Fuzzy may have Plott Hound and/or Cattle Dog roots. He is 45 pounds and 3 years old.  Fuzzy is a love bug who lives to please! He knows a few tricks and is eager to learn more – sit, lay, stay and come are just a few of this boy’s many talents. He is very gentle with food and treats, taking them gingerly from his trainer after he has earned them. Fuzzy shows his excitement in the cutest way by tapping his toes on the ground and wiggling his butt. He loves a good rub and snuggle with his foster parents. He is very loyal and loves to please you. His Favorite Spot is anywhere he can be near YOU! Fuzzy is house trained, crate trained, good with both dogs and cats! With a personality on the more submissive side, Fuzzy easily makes friends with new dogs and starts out cautious towards people. Once given a chance to warm up, he loves any person who will give him nice pets! Fuzzy is working on his leash training in his foster home, but likely has never been on a leash before coming to Mostly Muttz and will need a family with some patience to help him acclimate. For this reason, he will ONLY be adopted to a home with a fully fenced yard. He has learned to walk on a leash in the last few weeks but he is somewhat intimidated by surfaces that are not grass or dirt. He loves to ride in the car but needs assistance getting into it. All of this is very new to Fuzzy but he is up to learning. An adopter who has some dog experience and the patience to work with the Fuzz Man, would be ideal. He is The BEST Dog! You can apply to adopt Twenty-Two (Fuzzy) at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  show less
