About Kayleigh

Lassie is currently being fostered at Coconut Hound Haven in the Dominican Republic.

Hello,
I'm Lassie! I am a 1.5 year old girl and I have been spayed, vaccinated and am up to date on all my vaccines. I have been through a lot in my short life, from distemper, being tied up in a hot field with no food or water, to being hit by a car! It was a rough go, but I was a trooper and am forever grateful for the humans that found me and took care of me! Now that I am feeling better the search for my forever family continues on! I get along well with other dogs, but have not yet been tested with cats. I am a quiet girl looking for a family to cuddle up with on the couch and share snacks while watching movies. If you think this could be you please fill out an adoption application below!

90 Blanquito is currently being fostered in the Dominican Republic Hi! My name is Blanquito as I have a beautiful white coat and I am a handsome boy. That's what my mom tells me. I have a mom here in the Dominican but she is worried for me. We live on a very busy street and she knows it's possible I may get hit by a car or motorcycle one day like so many of my buddies have. She asked the nice people at the rescue if they could find a home where I would be safe. I think I am a very lucky boy that my mom loves me so much as to find me a safe home. Because of that I am super protective of my mom and our house. I sometimes snarl and growl a bit when people come over. So I think I need a home where my new family doesn't have any kids around and can help work with me to get over my fears. I promise I am worth the extra effort. Just ask my mom. Meet Blanquito, he is available for adoption. He is a typical 2 year old Dominican dog, who is an escape artist and likes to walk the street. Victoria, his owner, is afraid for him, afraid that he will get run over and get hurt as they live on a very busy street in Luperon. He does get along with other dogs. We are not sure about his interaction with kids but we do not feel it would be a good idea until he has more training. Blanquito is very possessive and protective of his home. He has issues with people coming into his space and will growl and sometimes bite. Blanquito needs an experience adopter who is willing to train him and socialize him properly.  Blanquito is neutered and fully vaccinated and has been coming to our monthly parasite clinic for treatment every month, Victoria actually brings him to the park without a collar and leash, she just speaks to him and he follows her. He will be staying with Victoria until a suitable forever home can be found for him. show less

Buddy is being fostered in Peterborough, Ontario Hi! They call me Buddy! I am very excited to be here in Canada. I have been working hard on my confidence. I have to admit I am a bit of nervous nelly. I find a lot of cars and noise scary and I like to get away from it if I can. I like best meeting new friends slowly so I check things out and take my time truth be told I love having a dog friend to play with. I am 48 pounds and am nice and tall and lean. I hear, in fact, that I quite handsome and a young boy at only 18 months. I am happy to report I do love humans and they say I am very soft to the touch. Like super soft. Oh and I only go potty outside. They say that's also a great thing! I would like my new family to have a dog already as I REALLY want a canine sibling to call my own. Can I come be your Buddy? Notes from Buddy's foster mom: Buddy gets along with human and dogs alike. He loves having his golden retriever foster brother to play with. Buddy is leash trained, has great recall and is house traied. But knows many commands and has worked hard with his training to help him gain confidence. He has beenn neutered, is up to date on his vaccinations and is microchipped.  Buddy enjoys the freedom of the back yard. He needs a fenced yard in his forever home. Buddy needs at least one other dog in the home to play with.  He would enjoy a dominant, confident playmate who can help him learn to be more confident. Buddy enjoys being close to his people. He enjoys sleeping in bed with his human at night. Buddy does not enjoy being locked in a crate. He is left home alone with freedom and will spend most of the day resting. He is used to being home alone 7-8 hours a day. He is very excited to see his people when they return home. Buddy needs a home with no young children. Buddy is not aggressive in any way but the fast movements, noises and unpredictability of a child causes him stress. In his forever home he needs a more calm environment. Buddy has not been around cats. We don't have any reason to feel he would not do well with a cat but he would need to be tested. Buddy is a good communicator with his wants and needs. He will come to sit beside you and ask to be pet. If you stop petting he will let you know if he wants more. He enjoys sitting near his person. Buddy is a fairly calm dog, even when he is nervous. He does not show any signs of aggression with his discomfort. He does not even bark. He would enjoy being with a human who will give him time, space and allow him to grow and learn at his own pace. We have discovered in foster care that when Buddy gets lots of time running and playing both in the yard and exercise with his human he appears far less anxious and is very playful with his toys. Buddy was originally homed in Ontario one year ago. His original adopter has worked hard to help him over come his anxiety. Buddy has done alot of training to help him gain confidence. It has been decided that this particular environment is not the best forever home for him. He has been very well loved and cared for and will be moving on with all of the comforts from his home to help him adjust to his new environment. His family wants him to be able to live his best life, as stress free as possible. show less

Toby is currently being fostered in Newmarket, Ontario.  Hello everyone! My name is Toby, I am 1 year old and currently am weighing in at 40 lbs! I will be updated on my vaccines and neutered soon. I was surrendered by my previous owners because I liked to chase their chickens too much, what can I say I'm a young boy with a lot of energy to burn! I am good with other dogs and love running around and playing with them! I would go to a home with a fenced in yard where I would be free to play off leash and explore my own area.  The humans here always tell me how much of a love bug I am, I do love my human attention, belly rubs are my FAVOURITE! I am extremly smart, I would like a person who is going to keep me busy, active and challenged! I really like to learn. I am pretty high energy, using my brain lots helps to tire me out. I am really good at climbing, I need a very secure yard, or a long line to be tied, even in a fenced yard. Sometimes I get a bit silly and forget the walls are there to keep me safe. I have started training with my foster Mom and a trainer because after I got to Ontario I became a bit reactive to things. They say I am learning really quickly though that I can relax and not be on gaurd all the time. If I am adopted I will get to go to training with my new Mom or Dad maybe. That would be fun to do together.   If you are looking for an adventure partner. I want to hike, run, explore and do new things. If you think that I would be a good fit for your family, please fill out an adoption application!  show less

Dahlia currently being fostered at Coconut Hound Haven Hello! I hear I am lucky to be alive. At least that what they tell me at the sanctuary. When they found me, my mom and my siblings I was so terribly hungry and my skin hurt something awful. I could barely stand to be touched. Only me, my mom and my sister Ainsley survived. My mom has gone to a super home in Canada I can't wait for that to be me too. I am a playful little girl and am looking for some humans to take me home too. I am heathly now and my fur has grown back nicely. Some may even say I am beautiful girl. My foster mom Kim says so. Dahlia was found starving on the streets with her Mom and sister. Most of her siblings did not survive. They all have healing to do from mange and also need to gain weight. They are underweight from being manurished while on the streets. Dahlia is just 5 lbs and just 5 weeks old. They need time to heal and get healthy. They will be brought up to date on vaccinations and spayed at the appropriate time.  Please understand when you are adopting a young puppy, they must be brought up to date on vaccinations and neutered/spayed before they can fly to their forever homes. This process can not happen until they are between 4-8 months of age depending on the dog. If you choose to adopt a puppy, please understand that because of the volume of animals we care for we can not provide more than monthly updates for you. We do appreciate how hard it is to wait and how exiting the process is for you. Our volunteers are very busy caring for a high volume of animals and don't get a lot of chance to take photos and be at computers for updates. Thank you for understanding. show less

Daisy is currently being fostered in the Dominican Republic. Hi I am named Daisy... at least I think so, that's what they like to call me? I was born on the streets and when my mommy disapeared and me and my 4 siblings didn't have anything to eat or anyone to look after us. We were so hungry and lonely and we didn't feel good at all. They told us that was because we were full of worms and were malnurished. Two of us who were rescued have been adopted already, but my sister Poopy and I are still here waiting for our forever families to come get us. We could be adopted together but we would also be ok if we had two seperate families to love us.  Notes from foster mom: Daisy is 5 months old and 18 lbs. Daisy is a very typical Coconut Hound and will be a medium sized dog when full grown. She is a very active, happy, playful puppy. She is a typical puppy and is still teething and needs work on her house training. She gets along well with other dogs and is used to cats as well. She likes to be able to run free in a fenced yard as she does have a lot of energy to burn. She is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed and ready to find her forever home.  Please understand when you are adopting a young puppy, they must be brought up to date on vaccinations and neutered/spayed before they can fly to their forever homes. Fiona is currently being fostered in Las Terranas, Dominican Republic. So they call me a special needs dog and they also call me Fiona. Sometimes I feel kinda funky and then suddenly I wake up and I am exhusted. I over heard them talking after the took me to the vet and they say I get "seizures" and that's what makes me feel funny and then so terribly tired. They gave me some pills and I haven't had a "siezure" since. My favorite thing is my pillow and my bed and if you'd be willing to give me belly scatches or give me a brush that would be heaven.  I am not a huge fan when people move to quick. I'm just the kinda girl who needs a little time to trust. I was on the streets a long time and its how I managed to survived. I know maybe I need a little more care and love than your normal dog but I promise I will give that love to you 10x over! Notes from her foster mom:  She enjoys lots of rest in her bed after she has had a seizure. If something exciting is happening she joins the crowd. Fiona is not in need of any medication for her seizures. They are too infrequent to use medication for. She has averaged a seizure every month or two for the past year. They are most common in early evening. They are short but afterwards she is exhausted and will sleep alot. She needs to be provided with a safe place to rest. Since September she has had very few seizures. The vet has checked her over many times. They do not feel she is epilectic. They feel she had Ehrlichiosis, this is the Dominican tick born illness. She has now been treated for this. She has not had a seizure since. We are unsure if her seizures will continue. When they do she requires a gentle stoke and a soothing voice without any panic or stress.  this is really all you can do. She does not need to go to a vet afterwards, just loved. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Fiona is about 70 lbs and almost 7 years of age. She is ready for her forever home. If you have a soft spot for a dog that needs that extra bit of loving, please consider making a home for Fiona. show less

Dora is currently being fostered in the Dominican Republic Hi. Please to meet you. I am girl. My name is Dora. I'm just a young tyke. I don't remember when I lost my mom but one day I was all on my own. I was so terrified all I could do is hide. I found a spot that was away from the scary cars and all the people but soon I was so hungry my belly hurt. This sweet woman came and coaxed me out of my hiding spot. She brought me home and gave me a bath and some food and held me close. It felt amazing and I wasn't so scared anymore. She said she'd find me a home where I would have all the baths food and cuddles I could ever need. Maybe that's with you. Dora is 5 lbs and 2 months old. Dora enjoys other dogs and children but has not yet met any cats. She will be updated on her vaccinations and spayed at an age appropriate time.  Please understand when you are adopting a young puppy, they must be brought up to date on vaccinations and neutered/spayed before they can fly to their forever homes. Inca is currently being fostered at Coconut Hound Haven Hi there! I am Inca! I am a lucky puppy. At least that's what I hear. I guess we had a home at something they call a "resort" here. People looked after my mom and she looked after us. But then they were gone and mom didn't know how she was going to look after us. Then a nice couple came along and scooped up all of us and took us to this amazing place called Coconut Hound Haven. They made sure my momma was safe and that we were all healthy. I know black puppies sometimes get over looked but I am super playful and I have so much love to give my forever family. They say you are out there I just need to be patient. Is that you??  Inca is about 5 lbs and 2 months old. Ivy is located in Napanee, Ontario. Hi there! I know they will tell you all about me in section below but I thought I'd tell you about myself too. I am smart and loving and loyal and it is very important that my humans are safe. When I arrived in Canada as a puppy my family wanted to socailize me but I wasn't ready to be in large spaces with lots of people and dogs around. They loved me and thought they were helping me but they made me super scared of everyone and everything. And when I am that scared I nipped at people. Then they had to send me away because they were worried I would go from nipping to bitting and didn't want me to be euthanized for being a mean dog. But I am not mean I was just so super scared and over whealmed I didn't know how to let people know it. The rescue gave me to this woman Cathy to help me gain confidence and a nice man came over to help me too. And it is working!!!! I feel better. I am not scared nearly so much but I still don't like strangers in my space too fast or too soon. I know I am not that easy dog that everyone wants but I just want a safe place to be loved. A place to call my home. I promise to love you pieces and never leave your side. Please give me a place not to be scared and to grow. I'm a good girl I just need to be safe. Notes from foster mom: Ivy is a very energetic playful girl. She wants at least one other canine sibling in her home and she wants a large secure fenced yard or farm to burn off all her energy. Ivy loves to spend time outside playing. She requires a home with no children. She would do very well in an active family with a human hiker or runner! Ivy is a very smart girl and has a ton of love and cuddles to give. She responds very quickly to training. Ivy is looking for a forever home that is willing to work with her. She has some special needs that we would like to tell you about. Ivy needs to have an experienced owner. She needs an owner willing to continue her training in Napanee, Ontario. She also needs an owner willing to transfer care slowly beginning with visits, an over night, a weekend and so on. Ally has been doing extensive training for almost 6 months now and due to her past issues we need an adopter that is willing to learn and continue with this. In the past, Ivy has been very protective and does not like to have new people coming into her space. She has responded by being very nippy and barking. She may settle into her home quickly with the people she gets used to seeing and has become this way with any guests coming into the space. Ivy would require a home that is not a busy household and has as few people coming and going as possible. She would be an amazing companion dog for a single person. Her foster has put in a great deal of time and energy to curb her bad  behaviour. Ivy is doing doing very well but she needs an adopter willing to carry it forward. Ivy needs and deserves a forever home but it needs to be with someone willing to commit the time to continue training. Ivy would be an amazing dog for agility or scent work classes etc. Ivy wants to please and wants a job. She is very smart and learns quickly. She has proven to have excellent recall and is house trained. She is a very eager girl and will love her person 100%. She is a very affectionate little girl. Ivy is just one and a half years old, about 25 lbs (similar size to a jack russell) spayed, up to date on her shots and microchipped. Ivy is currently being foster outside of Kingston, Ontario near Napanee.  show less

Kambo is being fostered in the Dominican Republic at Coconut Hound Haven. Hi I am Kambo. I have  alot of changes in my life lately and I won't lie I kinda like it. I was born on the street and I have live there since my mom left me. I never had a human to call my own and no ever paid me any attention or gave me any pets. I didn't know that in some places that's what dogs are for; to love and get pets. I have a ball to play with that I LOVE. I really love when they throw it for me and then try to get it and they have to chase me. I love to play chase and I almost never let them catch me. When they brought me to Cocounut Hound Haven they showed me what pets and love is like and it is amazing! I can't get enough! I hear that there is a family out there that wants to do just that! Is that you? I'd love to meet you. Notes from foster mom: Kambo is approx. 8 months old and 30 lbs. He is shy at first, but once he warms up, he loves attention. He probably has never had human touch before, but now is loving every minute of it. He finally feels safe :) kambo would do well in a home where he could get lots of one on one attention. He still needs time to learn to trust humans. He would love to have that special person he could count on. He has lots of energy so he would do well with a person who enjoys walking, running, hiking etc. A person who enjoys training dogs in order to bond and build trust and confidence would be fabulous for Kambo. He is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and ready to find his forever home.    show less

Katty is currently being fostered in the Dominican Republic Hi! Hi! Hi! Do you want to run with me? Do you want to play? Don't let my limp fool you I love to move. I got hit by a truck and it really hurt so I was lying by the side of the road for a long time. Then this gentle person took me to this amazing place called a "home" and cared for and I feel so much better. I am super glad my home has fenced yard so it would likely be best if you want to adopt me that you do too! I love kids and other dogs. I get nervous if new dogs get right in my face. I like to meet them slowly. I've never met a cat so I am not sure what I think of them yet. Notes from foster dad: Katty is currently around 5 months of age and about 15 lbs. She is not yet spayed yet, she is up to date on her vaccinations. She will be spayed before being adopted. Katty is a very active girl and needs lots of space to run. A fenced back yard to keep her safely secured is essential. She is now recovered from her accident and doing well. She has a slight limp but it does not slow her down. Katty is becoming more obedient and learning new things all the time. She is a bit of a barker to communicate when people come to the door or strange new animals are around etc. She can be a bit of a chewer, however she is still a puppy so she needs to be taught. She would do well to be crate trained in her forever home. She is doing well with her leash training. Katty loves to be with people, she is a little shadow. She would do best to have another dog around to keep her company. She does get lonely easily. Katty wants to find her forever person, could that be you? Please understand when you are adopting a young puppy, they must be brought up to date on vaccinations and neutered/spayed before they can fly to their forever homes. This process can not happen until they are between 4-8 months of age depending on the dog. If you choose to adopt a puppy, please understand that because of the volume of animals we care for we can not provide more than monthly updates for you. LisaLisa is currently being fostered in Ottawa, Ontario.  Hi! My name is LisaLisa. I am kind of a shy girl. I like just about everyone and everything I just need a little time. I got very badly hurt by a bad man in the Dominican but sweet people took super good care of me and fixed up my ear from where the bad man hit it with a machette. I lived my whole life on the streets so I am a smart girl but I don't want to have to struggle to find food and a safe place to sleep anymore. They brought me here to Canada and to a foter mom whose been taking such good care of me. We go on walks and sit and cuddle. She's the best! You should know I also love to dig holes, it's a street dog thing. I did it to make a bed for myself everynight in the dirt. My foster mom tells me there is a forever family out there all for me.   LisaLisa was attacked by a machette! She was a street dog who has been on the street all her life. We believe she is around 4 years old. She is about 30 lbs and is full grown. LisaLisa was picked up during outreach and taken to the vet. She was stitched up and given lots of TLC. She recovered from both her machette attack and her spay surgery in foster care. She is up to date on her vaccinations and spayed. She is very sweet, calm and gentle. Even when loading her in a vehicle with her attack wounds she showed no signs of aggression. She will need a patient adopter who is willing to give her time to get comfortable but she does adjust quickly. Lisalisa is good with other dogs and cats. She has not been tested with children. LisaLisa enjoys walking on leash. She would enjoy a yard to play in but it is not a requirement for her. She is not a high energy girl and would cope with leash walks just fine. She is house trained. She is using barking as a way to communicate her need to go outside. LisaLisa does enjoy digging when she is in an environment that allows her to do so. LisaLisa has adapted to her foster home very quickly in Ontario and is doing a fantastic job getting used to all of the new things Ottawa has to offer.  show less

Lucy is being fostered in the Dominican Republic. Ciao I am Lucy! I was living a good life but then something happened I can't really remember what but my head hurt terribly and I didn't feel good and I didn't want to eat. When I tried to walk it hurt so badly I just couldn't move. I just wanted to go to sleep and stop everything hurting. Instead gentle hands brought me too a place where they gave me medicine and I started to feel better. I am healing and my hip still is funny looking but it doesn't hurt  much and I am gaining weight. Note from foster family: We believe Lucy belonged to one of the vendors that comes to the multiuso.  She seemed to have had at least one set of puppies.  We had seen her for several weeks she was skinny and hobbling but happy to see us.  One day she had a cut on her head and she wasn't able to stand up anymore. She had gotten super skinny and super sad looking.  Lucy clearly needed our help!! Lucy had a broken hip. She has been vet checked and the vet has indicated that there is nothing more to be done for her hip. She has had x-rays during her vetting. She is healing up now and happy again. The vet feels it will take anotehr month or two for her to be fully healed. She can already walk and run. She barely has a noticable limp at all. She needs to gain a bit more weight to be her ideal weight. Lucy is very easy to get along with. She enjoys other dogs, cats and kids. Lucy is not a barker. Lucy would love to have a fenced yard to play in but she is also very chill so we feel she would cope well with apartment/condo living. Lucy loves car rides and going on adventures. She is currently working on leash training and is doing well. She walks about 3 km a day.  She loves to run and play in the water. Lucy has recently developed a bit of a forehead switch when she is stressed. She has been fully vet checked for this and the vet feels she may be a distemper survivor. The twitch does not affect her health in anyway. It may be a permanent thing if she is a distemper survivor. Lucy really loves to relax and chill on a very comfortable bed. She enjoys being in the house most of all. She is currently working on both house training and leash training. Lucy is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Lucy is ready for a home to call her own. show less

Luna is currently being fostered in the Dominican Republic I am an orphan and my name is Luna. I had a mom and 7 sibling but my mom died and my brothers and sisters too. I was alone in the world. But a human was taking good care of me but I was playing one day when I was still a baby and fell off a balcony and I hurt two of my legs really badly. One never healed right so I walk a bit funny but I think it adds to my charm. My human mom gave me up because she just could not care for me even though she loved me very much. I have to watch how much I do because of my legs so I need a family who is not too active. But I love to cuddle on the couch and watch tv! What about you?? I promise not to steal the remote. ;) Notes from fosters: When she was around 6 months she fell from a 3rd floor causing damages to two of her legs. She had surgery and she recovered. She can't do a lot of exercise and one of her front legs is slightly turned but she plays and runs like any other dog. Her leg is turned because when she was healing in her cast, she chewed her cast and that allowed her leg to turn. Unfortunatley by the time they noticed this damage the leg had already healed. In order to straighten it they would have needed to re break her leg again. This was not an option they felt they wanted to use. Her owner is a girl who hardly can take care of herself (low income, no studies) and decided to give her up for adoption to give her a better life. She is a loving young girl and is unique, she loves to play and is super sweet. She gets along great with other dogs as well as cats and children.  Luna is one year old and about 25 lbs. She is not an extremly active dog because of her one leg. She enjoys mental stimulation and people! Luna loves to snuggle in for pets and belly rubs. She also walks well on a leash!  Luna has the beginning of house training but still needs you to watch for her cues that she needs to go out. She is not a chewer by nature and is good to only chew her toys. She is up to date on her vaccinations and spayed. She is now ready to travel to her forever home! show less

Luna is currently located at Coconut Hound Haven Hi there! Luna is about 5 lbs and 2 months old. Thank you for understanding. show less

Maggie is currently being fostered at Coconut Hound Haven in the Dominican Republic Hi there. I don't know, if you know how hard it can be to be a puppy in the Dominican. My mom left me on my own one day on the streets and I wasn't sure what to do but I started rooting around in the garbage on the streets to try and find something to eat and I was covered in little bugs that made me itch and bleed. I really missed my mom terribly. A sweet woman must have felt sorry for me and she started leaving out food for me so at least my belly stopped hurting. It was hard though to find a place to sleep and I had to constantly dodge cars and motorcycles which is super scary. One day the nice woman who was feeding me picked me up and said enough of this life for me. She took me to a clinic (?) and they took me to a place called the CHH. They have fixed me up and I feel great. I am looking for a home to call my home. They all say I never have to live on the streets again. Note from resue: Today at the DCDR monthly parasite clinic, a woman brought in a street dog that has been trying to find food in the garbage. She said it broke her heart to watch it look for food. She put out what she could for him, but she knew he needed more help then she could give. This girl, now called Maggie, approx 5 mths old, 24 lbs, is in fair condition, but full of fleas and ticks. She is now cleaned up and has started her vaccinations. Once out of isolation and found healthy and sterilized, she will be available for adoption show less

Mike is currently being fostered in the Dominican Republic.  Hey there! They call me Mike. I know I just have three legs but I think it makes me pretty charming don't you think? I don't like to talk about it much but someone hit me with knife and took off my leg. It was so painful and it just kept getting more and more sore and I started to feel really sick. I was so tired and I was giving up and then some gentle hands lifted me up and whispered in my ear that I was going to be ok. They would take care of me. Make me feel better. And they did!! I feel amazing even better then, you know, before.....  I get all the food I like and all the snuggles I want. It's so perfect. And now they tell me I am going to have a forever home all my own. Maybe that's with you? Mike is 19 kg and 1 year old. He is fully vaccinated and neutered. Mike was found laying in the streets in Las Terranas after he had been attacked by a machette. Someone had cut off the bottom half of his left leg and left him there to suffer. Mike was rescued and taken to the vet. His leg was very, very swollen and he had a terrible infection. They worked hard to treat the infection but in order to save his life they needed to amputate the remaining portion of his leg. He healed from his amputation surgery very quickly. He is coping with the loss of his leg very well. Now that he is healed from surgery he is being treated for ehrlichiosis which is the Dominican tick born illness. He is doing very well and has been able to move from the hospital to his foster home.  Mike is new to his foster home so there is still lots we need to learn about him. His life has changed with the loss of his leg so we need to give him a couple of weeks in foster care to learn about his personality.he appears to be a very happy, loving boy even with his experience in the last month. He is house trained already believe it or not. He whimpers to get outside to go to the bathroom. With transitioning to a new environment accidents would be expected but he does very well. He also walks really well on leash! Mike is not a barker or a chewer. He does need a person who will be around a good deal of the time. Mike has separation anxiety. If he thinks he is alone he will howl. He is a very smart boy who is eager to please. This is still new for Mike. His muscles are getting stronger every day. He does still tire quickly and can currently only handle small amounts of stairs. He will develope a lot more strength a his body adjust to three legs.  show less

Oby is currently being fostered at Coconut Hound Haven in the Dominican Republic. I hear I came into this world on a very special day. The women who rescued me were just coming home from a party called Woofstock that was all about helping pups like me. You see they found my mom on the side of the road giving birth to us. The brought us home to a safe place called the Coconut Hound Haven. They named me Oby which I think suites me and I a bit bigger than my siblings at 8 pounds and they think I will be more on the large size of medium. I am getting my shots done and they will neuter me when I am old enough. I am looking for a family to call my own.... Oby is a 2 month old boy and weighs about 9 lbs. He is larger than you average two month old so we believe he will be on the larger side of medium at full growth. He is being brought up to date on his vaccinations as it is appropriate and will be neutered at an age appropriate time.  Please understand when you are adopting a young puppy, they must be brought up to date on vaccinations and neutered/spayed before they can fly to their forever homes. Sandy is being fostered in Kingston, Ontario.  Pleased to meet you I am named Sandy. Do you like a girl who is confident, smart and can walk on her front feet? What about a girl who has her own set of wheels? Your search is over that is me! I love every adventure you can think of and I don't let anything stop me. I don't remember a time when my back legs worked so I not quite sure how or when it happened but you know they just don't work. But I can balance on my front feet and run like the wind. I'm kinda cool. I do need a bit of help with peeing and its best if I wear a diaper becuase I'm not good at peeing and pooping on comand. But my foster mom says I am the easiest special needs dog ever. I don't think I am really special needs, just special. Sandy is a one year old girl and full grown at about 12.5 lbs. Sandy is a very strong willed, determined girl. She is sweet, cuddle, silly and smart. Don't let those back legs fool you. She has managed on the streets with only the use of her front end. Her back end is paralyzed but she is mobile with just her front legs. That right there tells you something about this girls will power. She has a wheel chair in her foster home which she has been learning to use since arriving in Kingston, Ontario. She is loving life and full of spunk. She requires no special ongoing medical care because of her legs. You have to meet this girl, she is very special.  show less

Shay is currently being fostered at Coconut Hound Haven in the Dominican Republic Hi there. Pleased to meet you. I am now called Shay. They used to call me "Go Away". I like Shay better. I am so happy to be at the Haven. My mom left me all alone and I was looking for food when another big dog attacked me. I was so hungery and itchy, my skin just hurt and bugs kept biting me. I was so sad. Why didn't someone want me? I really like humans. But here at the Haven all the humans love me. They gave me a bath and give me hugs and kisses. They tell me I can have as many as I want and food too! And that I will have a family of my own. Gosh I love this place, but a home of my own that would be heaven on earth! Today (May 7th) at the monthly parasite clinic, a woman brought in a street dog that has been trying to find food in the garbage. She said it broke her heart to watch it look for food. She put out what she could for him, but she knew he needed more help then she could give. The woman said there was also a second pup with it, but she could not catch it . Later on she was able to secure the pup, and brought it right away to the clinic for help. Thank you Sharon Villaman for delivering them via Motorconcho. The boy, now named Shay, approx. 4 mths old, 12 lbs and very thin, full of fleas and he is pretty banged up, lots of bite marks and scabs all over him. The girl, now called Maggie, approx 5 mths old, 24 lbs, is in much better condition, but full of fleas and ticks. They are both now cleaned up and have started their vaccinations. Once out of isolation and found healthy and sterilized, they will be available for adoption. show less

Currently being fostered at Coconut Hound Haven in the Dominican Republic Hi I am Talson. I used to live at a garbage dump. Well, that where my mom lived so that's where I was born. My mom was amazing. She dug through the garbage everyday to make sure we were fat, happy puppies. Our mom defended us from other dogs and she was a mess when we were rescued but we looked pretty good. We had some bugs I guess, and now we were safe at the CHH. No more gargbage for mom or my siblings. But now everyone else has been adopted and I am waiting for someone to come get me. I'm super sweet boy. Promise to love you to moon and back if you give me chance. Note from CHH: Talson is a very happy, playful 4 month old puppy. He is currently being brought up to date on his vaccinations and he will be neutered when it is age appropriate.  Please understand when you are adopting a young puppy, they must be brought up to date on vaccinations and neutered/spayed before they can fly to their forever homes. Tiki is currently being fostered in the Dominican Republic Ola! That's spanish for hello you know. I am called Tiki and I definately a pug. Or at least lots of pug. I am playful and fun loving. When it comes to my food I get a little grumpy so leaving me alone when I eat is the best. I love kids but I need them to stay away from my food too! LOL. Please. I am still getting the hang of asking to go outside when I need to pee. That's a new one.I love to go for a walk on a leash but I also love a fenced yard to run in. I'd be happy with either or both! hey I won't complain. My foster mom says I have the cutest smile and the best personality. Sounds like I'm a catch! Tiki is a very loving Pug mix. He is about 1 year old and about 15 lbs. He has the most adorable underbite which makes him unique! Tiki is already learning his Spanish commands of sit and stay. He is calm and listens well. He is working on house training now. He still has some pee accidents in the house but is making quick progress. He walks beautifully on leash too! Tiki loves to be outside with a canine friend and having the freedom to run around. Tiki does have some food gaurding issues so he needs an adopter that can be patient and understanding and feed him in a private space. Tiki gets along well with children. Because of his food gaurding issues if there are children in the home they would need to understand this issue and to give him space while eating. Tiki has hip displasia. He does not require any special treatment for it currently. He is currently being brought up to date on vaccinations and will be neutered soon.  show less

Update April 30, 2019,  Wannita is doing great with only one eye. She loves to be picked up and held. Each night I sit on the couch and . Wannita finds me. She walks across me and then walks on my chest and curls up. She loves when I pet her until she falls asleep. She is very gentle and loving. Will make a perfect companion! Hey everyone! My name is Wannita I am roughly 2 years old and quite the cuddle bug! I bet you have noticed my missing eye, it's okay, don't be alarmed! When I was found I was not in good shape at all, I honestly thought I was never going to be saved or find this thing called a "family" but now I am so hopeful! I had an injury to my eye and it could not be saved so the amazing DCDR crew scooped me up, took me to the vet and got me all fixed up! I don't hurt anymore!! I have been loving life here in the Dominican witb my foster mama and making friends with her cats and dogs (she likes to spoil me with ear scritches). Now that I am healthy and back to acting like my normal cuddly self, I am looking for my forever home, my place to curl up on the couch and purr the nights away! If you are looking for a new family member and would like to open your heart and home up to me, please fill out an adoption application below. I will be forever greatful and promise to repay you in head bumps and kitty kisses! show less
