Personality: Brinny can be shy in new environments and when meeting new people. Once she's warmed up she enjoys cuddling and going for walks. Now that's comfortable in our care she is always underfoot and begging for attention! Her foster parent said she was happy to lay by their feet while they worked from home but also enjoyed going for walks, runs, and playtime in their yard. She loves belly rubs and will lay in her foster parents arms like a baby asking for petting. She's had the start of potty and crate training but as with any new animal may need a refresher when going into a new home. The foster parent says that Brinny will bark or whine when first left alone. They've worked using puzzle toys, kongs, and other fun treats to get her more comfortable with being alone. We highly recommend the use of a crate and positive reinforcement to help Brinny get comfortable with being alone in a new home. History: Brinny came to us from another shelter. Cat Skills: We do not have a history of Brinny living with cats but we have noticed that she is interested in them out on walks and may want to chase a cat initially. Dog Skills: Brinny has lived with other dogs while in our care and enjoys the company of other dogs. Leash skills: Brinny walks well on leash and her foster reports that she did great going for runs and keeping pace.Ready to meet Brinny? Animal's Name: Buckie (Buckaroo)Animal ID Number: A180487What should your foster's bio say? Solidly built little companion. Energetic and loving lap dog. Always excited to see his humans! What did you implement for house training? Do you think it's working? He seems to be good at not marking indoors.Have you introduced them to a crate? If so, what kind of crate and what was their reaction? He sleeps in an open door crate that has an xpen attached. He does well going in on his own without complain. Interestingly he has not had any accidents in his quarters. How many hours did you leave them home alone? What was their behavior like when left alone? Buckie hangs out outside in the yard. Will occasionally have barking episodes, but can easily be quieted down. What is their behavior like with other animals? He's excellent with our large dog. Neither has a playful personality, but they get along even to eat side by side. He is great at not guarding food from people, but when he's done eating his meal, he imposes his dominance to eat the other dog's food. Been working on this with him.He has chased a cat and during a walk, was highly inclined to chase squirrels. He wouldn't be a good companion to a house cat. What is their behavior like with new people and/or children? : Buckie is cautious around new faces, but will get comfortable quickly. Is there anything else that you would like the new adopter to know about this dog, such as any special tricks or adorable traits? Good car rider. Good at walking on a leash, although a bit zig-zagged, but at least he looks back to check on his human.
