About Shorty George

DOB: 3/1/20 Shorty George is a real momma’s boy.  But he’s also a total BMOC!   He’s been voted outstanding student athlete because he can jump three times his own length; no wonder he moves with such confident swagger.  And don’t forget that pink, very pink nose; that nose and the grey spot on his right front leg just add to what makes him such a heartbreaker.  If Shorty George were an actor, he’d be Matt Damon.  C’mon, SG even looks like Matt Damon; don’t you see the resemblance?! When he’s done playing hard and rough (with his mom!), he poops out and becomes the sweetest, most gentle little angel at rest.  That’s the time the 7-year-old girl who visits him can best cuddle him; the rest of the time he’s too busy playing and just squirms until she lets him go.  He loves to look me right in the eye, as if to say, “Don’t worry; I’ve got this.  I may be young, but I’m fierce!”   SG and his three sisters were born as strays in a basement in south LA.  He was pick of the litter, but the original adopter backed out after a couple of weeks.  His sisters were all adopted out, so he’s had a lot of time to spend with his mother Adelaide.  He would love to be adopted with her, though he will be fine in any home that provides him a feline playmate and a lot of love. DOB: 3/23/2018 & 4/17/2020 Babka and Spatchka are a mom and daughter pair rescued out of a palm tree in someone’s backyard. They are extremely affectionate, loving girls who cuddle and play together constantly. Both of them purr on contact, and love being picked up and cuddled. Babka (the mom) gets along with mild mannered cats but is very bad with dogs. Spatchka (the daughter) gets along with absolutely everyone. We don’t know anything about Babka’s background, but judging from her attitude towards food, we can surmise that she was taught survival skills from a bunch of raccoons living in a dumpster. This otherwise mild mannered and dainty lady becomes a fiend in the presence of food, so one might want to either be careful eating around her or be willing to share. She’s not picky; at her current foster home, she has helped herself to grilled zucchini, almond croissants, pizza, French fries, and other things not normally found in the feline diet. Maybe she’ll grow out of it over time, but if not, her foster parents want her future adopters to always remember that sharing is caring. These two cats had it pretty rough when they were fending for themselves on the street, but are an absolutely wonderful pair who will liven up any home. DOB: 4/1/20 Basil is an active, curious and fun teenage kitty who is full of surprises. She is a sleek and soft tabby gal with who loves to explore, play and climb on her cat tree, and chase any feather wands you want to wave for her. She and her siblings spent their early months outside, though fully socialized, they have more developed hunt and play instincts than more sheltered kittens, and sometimes play more roughly than others. When it's time to relax, Basil enjoys finding a comfy spot on her cat tree or near you on a bed or couch to curl up and enjoy pets and snuggles.   Basil loves to run, chase and wrestle with her kitty friends. She tends to take an alpha position in a group, and would need to be paired with a buddy who understands her energy. She is also highly entertained by self-stimulus toys and can bat a ball track back and forth off and on all day. She is fully box-trained and on a very healthy grain-free wet diet. Since Basil and her siblings have a unique play style, they'd probably do best in pairs since they understand each other best. Her siblings are Oregano, Valentino and Sumac.   See what Basil and her friends are up to on Instagram: @manzanita_pants If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 8/7/20 Within hours of arriving at his foster home, Beast crawled onto his foster mom's chest, buried his face in her neck, and conked out, purring up a storm. This perfectly captures his personality: trusting, relaxed, snuggly. He's the sweetest of beasts, and loves to be pet and held.  Although he's got plenty of playful kitten energy, he's on the mellower side. He will 'make biscuits' anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Sometimes, if humans are dancing and music is playing, Beast will make biscuits in time to the music! He's very advanced. And as you can see from the photos, he has already mastered High School Yearbook pose.  Due to his baby age, Beast will need to be adopted with one (or both!) of his beloved tuxedo siblings, Miss Stachio and Muppet, or go to a home that already has a young playful cat. DOB: 6/30/20 Birch and Walnut were found with their mom and siblings on a busy four-lane street corner in Burbank, when they came crawling out of some shrubs just after midnight. It is a miracle that they were not killed, and local residents said that this was the mom’s third litter. Now the entire family has been spayed or neutered, and enjoying life in their foster home until they can be adopted. Birch is a sweetheart and the pack leader. He loves to catch things and hide them, and has the loudest purr you have every heard. His sister Walnut is scrappy. She isn’t scared of anything, and will sit right by the vacuum cleaner while the rest of her family hides. She loves being held and playing with wands and automated toys. She and Birch are very closely bonded and always sleep and play together, and must be adopted together. Both Birch and Walnut are good with other cats, are pros with the litterbox and use their scratching posts. They have never been around dogs or small children. DOB: 6/4/20 Boba may seem shy at first, but the minute she realizes you are her mommy/daddy, she is the most affectionate and cuddly kitten in the whole wide world! She is very communicative and playful with humans. When you wake up in the morning, both her and her brother will be cuddling under your arms and under the covers. When you come home she will always greet you with rubs of affection. When you are lounging, she will lay on you and become a total ragdoll. When you are ready for bed she will come and sleep in bed with you. I honestly have never met a kitten so smart. For example, I left a 12 pack of canned wet food on the floor. When she was hungry, she opened the box and rolled one of the cans out to me. One of the sweetest kittens I have ever had the pleasure of fostering. She loves to play with string, bottle caps, toy mice, and anything she can toss around.   Neko is an extremely outgoing, courageous and affectionate kitten. He’s dog-like in the way that when you tell him to come to you, he will come to you. He is never shy and won’t hesitate to cuddle up on you and give you affectionate headbutts on your nose and face. He sometimes likes giving you kisses as well (licking). In the mornings you will find him, like his sister, cuddling on you under the covers. When you come home, he will meow to greet you and start giving you rubs of affection. When you are lounging, he likes to cuddle under your arm and purr loudly. One of the most affectionate and loving cats I have had the pleasure of fostering. Neko, like his sister Boba, love to play with bottle caps, string, toy mice, and anything that can be tossed around. These two are bonded and they must be adopted together. DOB: 5/1/20 Introducing Bond (James Bond) & Mei-Lei (Bond Girl), two top secret agents with just one mission: find an amazing family with tons of love to give! In early May 2020, this darling pair was found without a mom, so tiny they still had their umbilical cords attached. They were placed with a Bottle Baby Specialist who fed them around the clock and lovingly raised them by hand. They only know humans to be a source of warmth, food and love and that is what makes them extra special.   Bond (M) is all decked out in his classic tuxedo, as he has just arrived after saving the world from evil. His gorgeous green eyes can get secrets out of anyone. Mei-Lei (F) is also “dressed to kill” in her luxurious fur coat and contrasting claws. This kitten does not look “Cute,” she looks “Fierce” with stunning spots and stripes, a piercing gaze into your soul and a belly that demands kissing! When they’re not out engaging in International Espionage you’ll likely find them warming up your lap, happily purring, playing/exploring and waiting for some scritches. The two of them are very loving to one another. You will often watch them chasing each other, play fighting all over the house, giving each other cuddles, and helping one another get groomed. Note: a bonded pair is a package deal – they will only be adopted out together. Both Bond and Mei-Lei do well with dogs, kids and other cats. A wonderful, loving home is what they truly deserve. Anybody would be lucky to adopt this amazing Power Couple! DOB: 12/31/15 A whole lotta chonky kitty love for those of you who like to have a lot of kitty to love. Boo Radley, a tad shy at first, but warms up and then will roll around to show you his big belly and enjoy being pet. Boo is the kind of kitty that other shy cats are drawn to, and somehow he helps them calm down. One of those cats is Blade, who likes to hang out with him in his enclosure. Maybe someone would like Boo and Blade together?   Boo is FIV+.FIV+ kitties can have the same expected life span as non FIV kitties, as long as they are kept inside and are well looked after. FIV is not a big deal. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissable to humans. Click here for a basic FAQ about FIV. If you'd like to read a much more detailed and comprehensive FAQ about FIV, we recommend this site.
