About St Charles

I’m St. Charles, otherwise known as Charlie. I’m a 7-year-old, 70-pound male blue Weimaraner. In my past life, I came into rescue in December of 2018 as part of a cruelty case after having been severely neglected and starved, but those days are long behind me. In fact, I heard my foster mom saying that she wasn't sure this day would ever be possible to be "ready for adoption" because I came in so frail and sick.  I love the rescue life! My favorite thing to do is be everywhere you are. I love to cuddle on the couch and I get along just dandy with my four-legged brother and sister even though my sister doesn’t like me much. Cat’s are a no-no though. I use the doggy door like a champ. I can be crated but I don’t like it, so you’ll have to give me treats to go in. I almost always behave nicely while Mom’s away, but I’ve been known to counter surf while Mom’s at work. My foster mom doesn't have children, but I'm pretty sure I would be ok with kids as long as they treated me real nice.  For the most part, I listen real good and will do most anything for treats! My foster Mom always says I’m special and she’s right. I’m a special needs dog because I have a heart murmur and dialated cardiomiopathy (DCM). That means I’ll need medication for the rest of my life and a non-grain free diet. Have no fear, I always take my pills in a treat! Because I wasn’t taken care of properly, I had those nasty heartworms, but treatment is behind me now. I came through with flying colors. I just adore my humans and I love to give hugs! Even though I do okay with other dogs, I love to have attention just for me! I like taking short walks, and I love to sleep on my comfy beds right near my foster Mom. Are you looking for a best fur-ever friend? I’m just the special boy for you!  I am neutered and I am currently being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. ##359219##

Buster is a 6-year-old male Weim mix that was abandoned and tied to a fence in an abandoned yard recently.  He is a very active boy that is crate trained and housebroken.  He is dog friendly and has been playing nicely with others in boarding.  He loves exploring inside and outside, riding in the car, going on walks, tennis balls and being with his person.  He is a "nooker" (loves to suck his blanket) and is gentle when you feed him a treat or pill.  He doesn't like thunder and lightening and very fearful during storms.  He doesn't mind the rain though.  He needs continued training for "stay", "heel" and "lay down" commands.  He knows "sit" and "go to your crate".  He is ok on a leash or harness, but will try to bolt if he sees deer, rabbits, etc.  He doesn't jump up.  Buster is intelligent, very clever, affectionate, a fast learner, gentle, happy and flexible.  He also has some independence in that if you go to the other room he doesn't feel the need to follow all the time - not completely "velcro" in other words.  He is being fostered in the Dallas area if you are interested in adopting.  He is boarding at one of our facilities and the trainer there is willing to observe a meet-n-greet with dogs and people looking to adopt Buster as he didn't have a good meet-n-greet in the past, but there have been no issues at all since he has been in boarding. ##580601## show less
