How this pet arrived:This pet was brought in by a Good Samaritan on May 10, 2020.Why this pet is the one for you:Alba is an American Fuzzy Lop rabbit who was found as a stray if you can believe it! Now that Alba is safe and sound at SDHS she's looking for a fresh start! Alba, like all rabbits, will need a large x-pen/playpen like enclosure with at least 12 square feet of room to stretch out. Rabbits are very easy to litter-box train, and Alba has been doing great with this at the shelter! Alba will also need plenty of daily time to explore outside of her pen. Fuzzy Lops are curious and playful rabbits who love to play with toys like pine cones or baby stacking cups! Rabbits are intelligent and complex animals who do well in families with humans who understand that they are prey animals, and do not enjoy being held/picked up. The best way to bond with Alba is to spend time with her outside of her pen, and shower her with plenty of cilantro, Romaine, and Timothy hay! Lops are usually an affectionate breed of rabbit who enjoy getting pets and attention from their human companions. Alba will let you know when she is happy by giving you a bunny binky (a hop/ twist in the air)! Because rabbits need so much space and aren't easy to hold they aren't an ideal "starter pet". Rabbits usually do best with older children who can respect their boundaries. When Rabbits get the space and enrichment they need, they often form deep bonds with their humans in the same way a dog or cat would. If it's your dream to have a fuzzy bunny to eat salads with snuggle (on her level) then Alba may be the girl for you! Call us about her today to learn more!! How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by their previous owner on May 26, 2020. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Cupcake! Cupcake is an energetic kitty looking for a loving home to play to her hearts content. Cupcake is not satisfied with just any old toy though, she needs a challenge for her little warrior soul! She needs someone who is willing to actively play with her every day to really make her happy. Contrary to what her name might tell you, she doesn't seem to really be a "lap cat". She loves attention and pets but she has a limit, so her new family should be aware of how to read her signals when she's had enough. For this reason we recommend that there be no human children in her new home. Cupcake will also need some time and understanding to adjust to her new home, so giving her her own private area to relax at first will help her confident self emerge much quicker! But once she feels comfortable Cupcake will show you just how amazing she is! So, if you think your home would be the perfect place for Cupcake make an appointment online or give us a call today! How this pet arrived:This pet was brought in by a Field Services Officer on May 15,2020.Why this pet is the one for you:Daffodil is a such a doll baby! If you're looking for a snuggly sweet heart then she may be your girl. When Daffodil arrived at SDHS she was feeling pretty crummy. She was nursing some painful wounds that we've since patched up, and she is doing better everyday! Even when she was feeling her worst this 70 pound pumpkin let our Humane Law Enforcement officer scoop her up into their arms to get her the help she needed. Sometimes receiving TLC from veterinary staff can be uncomfortable when you're hurting, but Daffodil soaked up all the attention she received! Daffodil is a mellow affectionate girl who even enjoyed the warm baths she received during her time in our vet suit! She leans into any pets that are bestowed on her, and savors every moment. Daffodil will do best as the only pet in your life. She's just more of a "people person" than a "dog person". Daffodil is healing up beautifully, but she'll need an adopter who can keep a close eye on her progress and get her help if she needs it. If you have a big fluffy bed to pamper this princess, and open arms to snuggle her then make an appointment for Daffodil today!
