Meet Poncho! Poncho is a very social and energetic little guy who loves to play! He has the prettiest gray fur that is super soft! He loves chasing after his toys, climbing up his cat tree, and getting treats. Poncho doesn’t care to be picked up or held, he’ll sit next to you on the couch or will stretch out on the bed but isn’t a lap cat. He likes head pets and watching the birds outside!  Poncho is very sweet but can play rough with his humans. He plays well with children but may give them a little love tap when he’s had enough.  If you are looking for a new play buddy, consider our little guy Poncho!  Amber is a loving 2 year old female tabby/calico mix who loves being with her favorite human, looking out windows, and talking! You will often find her hanging around you, but she prefers having some windows to look out of. Amber loves being pet all around her head and down her back, but is picky about her sides and belly. She isn't one to cuddle but she will gladly sit or lay next to you. Amber is also very chatty, so please entertain her by talking to her! She will often respond with a tiny meow. She loves having a place to scratch in the rooms she's familiar with and is very entertained with little mice and wand toys. Finally, although she hasn't met any other kitties face to face, she gets to hang out with the feral cats that come through my yard via my glass door and seems to enjoy their company!  Beautiful Angora wants to be the queen of your heart! Rescued from the streets of West Philly with her four kittens, she would do well in a home where she can be the center of attention. She came to us a little chunky, and she does still love treats and wet food (and will boss you around to get them!). If you like a cat that gives head butts and will stretch out on the floor to keep you company, Angora is your girl. She has also been spotted frolicking like a kitten on the rare occasion that her actual kittens aren’t pestering her. She’s been a bit tense in our home with two strange cats and a dog and three kids, especially with all these kittens underfoot, and she would do best in a low stress environment with adults all to herself. I’d love to see her blossom in a place where she could relax and let her guard down. She loves being petted and will run up to you for attention, but may get overstimulated and need her space again – watch the twitchy tail for clues. Sweet but sassy, allows belly rubs but takes no nonsense if she feels disrespected.  Brother and sister looking for a forever home together! Meet Apone (male) and Newt (female)! This brother/sister duo would love to find a home together. Both kittens were a little shy upon first arriving at their foster home, but Apone quickly overcame his shyness when he saw there were toys just for him. Newt took a little longer, but after a few days she revealed her true personality as a snuggly lovebug. These kittens love to play - with their toys, with crumpled pieces of paper, sweatshirt laces, and with each other! Newt is much more confident when her brother is around, so it would be ideal if they could be adopted together. Apone is energetic and playful while Newt is cuddly and sweet. They're the perfect duo! Both kittens are neutered/spayed and have healed up beautifully from their surgeries. They met two adult cats at their foster home and were a little nervous, but not aggressive at all, so they could potentially live with other cats. They are gentle when they play, so they would probably be fine with children as well.  Meet Barnaby, a cute freckle-nosed boy who loves to cuddle! Barnaby is a sweet, timid guy that loves food! While shy at first, Barnaby has warmed up to his foster family quickly. He loves his routine, and especially mealtime. One of his favorite things is smooshing himself up against his foster mom’s leg on the couch. He loves to look up at you lovingly and purr as loud as he can until you pet him. Barnaby gets along great with his kitty foster siblings! He has a previous injury to his back legs, which just means he’s a bit wobbly when he walks and plays, but he gets around great. Being a sensitive guy, he is looking for a home with a special someone who understands that he may be a bit shy when meeting new people. Sweet Barnaby would be happiest in a calm home with adults and older children. We can’t wait for you to meet him!   A Cuddly Girl Who Just Wants a Comfy Place to Snuggle! Maman Belle currently splits her time doting on her 4 bébés and snuggling with her foster mom. Now, it's time for her to just focus on finding and loving her new human! Belle loves nothing more than to be held. She will beg for you to pick her up by standing on her hind legs and 'clapping' her paws together! If you don't do it quickly enough, she will jump on your lap or the closest table to get closer to you. She likes to follow you from room to room and watch you with her inquisitive eyes. These bright eyes give her a started look, but her foster mom says it's just her observant and curious nature. She's always happy to be scooped up and pet. She might even headbutt you to show her appreciation! She has a very healthy appetite and will let you know if her food bowl is empty. Even if it is full, it's helpful to watch your dinner around her, as she likes to share! Maman Belle only has a portion of her tail due to a past accident. Because of this, she will need a little extra patience and care when it comes to her litter box behaviors. Sometimes, she needs to be cleaned up a bit after using the bathroom. Her foster mom or adoption staff can chat with you more about what's going on! If you're looking for a cuddly girl with a calm demeanor, Bell might just be the one for you!  Friendly Bernard is a handsome boy looking for the perfect cuddle companion! Bernard looks like a tough guy but is the biggest softy around. This handsome boy loves head rubs, belly rubs, back rubs and really any kind of rub. A true homebody, Bernard is dedicated to cuddling during television, chirps for a little petting and loves to sleep next to you – the perfect house guest. Bernard has had some ear issues that will need attention, he receives daily drops and may need follow up appointments to monitor his progress. He would do best in an adult home to live the quiet life of sleeping in the sunshine stretched out with his white fluffy belly in the air.  Bernard has tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), which causes a weakened immune system.  FeLV  cats have shorter lifespans than other kitties, but don't  require medication or daily treatment. With a caring home and attentive person who can catch any early signs of illness, FeLV cats will live perfectly normal, happy lives. Only cats can catch  FeLV , so they are able to live with other species (or other cats who are  FeLV  positive).  Staff will be happy to tell you more about FeLV if you have any questions at all!  Meet playful and loving Chili! Chili is a handsome ball of energy and curiosity! He loves to explore new findings and will climb the highest heights to do so. He has entertained himself with every toy that’s come his way, including: feathers, jingly balls, puzzles, string, toilet paper tubes, twisty ties..really anything you put in front of him. But his favorite thing to do is run after a laser pointer! So much so that his foster mom has already had to replace the batteries in hers. Chili also loves sitting on window sills, scratching his scratch post, and following you wherever you go. His need for activity would require a home with the room to offer him some space to explore and play. When his energy runs out, he’s content laying next to you and purring for pets until his nap kicks in. Chili does tend to get feisty at times, and his predatory and attack instincts surface. He also hasn’t fully adjusted to being around other pets. For these reasons, he would most likely be best in a home with adults and no small kids, and ideally as a single pet.  If you're looking for a hilarious, kind of intense, but ultimately sweet house panther who will always keep you smiling, then read on to find out if Cinderella is the kitty match for you!  Cinderella has a small frame, but a very big personality. She always wants to know what you're doing, and loves being in the center of the action with her curious nature. She loves to climb, explore, and rifle through everything in her environment, and has even figured out how to open our office doors when she's bored (clever girl)! Cinderella is looking for a companion who really "gets" her.  She can be a bit particular about how she receives affection, but actually loves to be around people and will often ask for attention! She'll do best with someone who can read cat body language - she likes to take things slow and on her own terms, but is a really great companion if you like a little spice with your sugar!  This beauty's ideal home will be large with lots of perches to climb, nooks and crannies to explore, and toys to chase. She also gets along great with larger dogs and would enjoy a canine friend! She prefers to be your only feline, and will thrive in a household with adults/teens.  Name: Cinderella (formerly Angela) Age: 1-2 years  How I came to PAWS: Surrendered  Animal ID#: PHLP-A-43800 Location: I'm not at the shelter.  It's easy to smile when you're with Clifford! This playful and fun-loving guy is full of joy and enthusiasm. His tail starts wagging as soon as he sees you walking towards him (especially if you're holding a leash)! We think Clifford must have been a family pet at some point since he's house-trained, super affectionate, and thoroughly enjoys car rides. Clifford is also happy to show off when there's a tasty treat involved, and has already earned 'sit' and 'come'. Clifford is a active boy who would love lots of space to run around and play, and he may get along with another dog friend depending on a meet! Apply for this lovable clown today - you'll be smiling in no time!  Coal is a house panther in training – and always follows the #1 rule of being a cat (“If I fits, I sits”).  Coal loves to hang out in cardboard boxes – I’m sure he’d love any toys you’d buy him, the Amazon box they came in would be just as interesting to Coal!  Coal has grown up big and strong with his 5 siblings (Pepper is the only sibling not adopted yet) and now is ready to join your family (if you have a cardboard box for him, that is)! Coal has suspected Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) or “wobbly cat syndrome.”  Cats are born with this condition, and it will affect him for life without getting worse or better. CH occurs in-utero when the part of a cat's brain that controls motion isn't fully developed by the time they are born. Some cats have very light forms of CH, while others will be extra wobbly! Coal is very wobbly – which means he doesn’t walk well and more often crawls (or throws himself across) the floor and can’t climb up on furniture.  To keep him safe, Coal would do best in an environment without access to stairs and with carpets (so he doesn’t slip on the floor).  Perhaps that’s why he loves boxes so much, because they offer him a secure place to sit. Although Coal is very affected by his CH, he doesn’t let that stop him – he is super playful and likes toy mice and balls (or attacking his own tail) but he is also content to sit with quietly with you.  He knows he’s a handsome boy and is waiting for the family that will spoil him as he deserves! Coal would be content with a family (adults only or with older respectful children) that's around a lot to give him attention, but who can be very mindful of his condition and help him out should he get stuck somewhere.  He has a great personality and doesn’t seem to realize there is anything “wrong” with him – and is looking for a home where he can live life to the fullest! This cat is not at the shelter.  Sink obsessed quiet gentleman looking for a peaceful home. Dante is a sweet, gentle guy that just wants a warm patch of sun and a quiet house to call his own. He is fond of laps and likes to perch on high places to observe his domain. Sometimes he'll come running when we go into the bathroom because we've spoiled him with letting him drink from the sink--how could you resist? His voice is very deep and low, sounding like a 'quack'. Dante has some GI issues that can cause diarrhea and a decreased appetite. He is currently on daily medication to help with his symptoms and will likely need some further diagnostics in the future. He is looking for a person who is comfortable administering daily medication and adhering to a special diet. Being a sensitive guy, Dante would really flourish as the only cat in the household, but will tolerate living with another docile cat who will respect his space. Dante is such a sweetheart and would enjoy spending his golden years in the comfort of your home!
