DOB: 6/22/2019 This smart, lovely, elegant young people-loving cat took shelter in a basement near downtown LA to give birth.  Adelaide proved to be an excellent mother, raising four kittens that were easily socialized despite being born strays.  She gets up from her lounge to greet me whenever I walk in the door, and her motor turns on immediately when I pick her up and cuddle her.  She doesn’t hesitate to give love bites to let me know she wants more attention, but she’s not super-insistent; she’s actually quite undemanding.  She’s truly an old-fashioned lady, gently suggesting (with her chirp; never a meow) that it seems to be suppertime.    Her desire to be around people indicates she once must have been someone’s pet.  Being on the streets has made her cautious; she’s curious about outside and loves to watch cat tv (gazing out the window), but never makes a run for the door when I open it.  She is an avid lounger, but her inner kitten comes out when she enthusiastically plays with her one son (and only remaining kitten) Shorty George.  He’s quite a bruiser, and Adelaide gives as good as she gets.  She wouldn’t mind at all being adopted together with Shorty George, but she'd be ok on her own, too. DOB: 4/2013 Anabel just came back from a 2 year adoption, through no fault of her own. She's overcoming the resulting shyness very well. Originally found in the street, she thrives on love and attention, purrs, sleeps and cuddles with her foster mama, and comes running to greet you at the door. She's exceptionally large, especially long, and with her striking markings and big eyes we believe she's a good part Bengal. When she lived here before she would stand up, put her paws around the round doorknob, and open the door! She can be an only cat, but with careful introduction should be able to accept a companion. She's not an alpha cat at all. We want to be sure that, after all the changes she's been through, her next adoption will be the last. She loves young foster kittens If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 5/14/2012Arwen is a gorgeous little brown tabby and white girl with soft golden eyes.  This sweet girl was rescued from death along with her 4 less than 1 week old kittens.  The shelter had planned to kill the entire family but they were spared and brought to foster care just in the nick of time.  Arwen was in desperate shape, little more than skin and bones, and unable to care for her kittens.  She was weak, scared, and depressed.  The 4 babies were sent to a bottle feeder where they flourished and Arwen spent a solid week being syringe fed as she lacked the energy and motivation to even eat.  Time brought healing and as Arwen began to put on weight, she also began to take an interest in life again.  Arwen has made some tremendous strides forward and her progress in her new foster home has been lovely to experience. When first rescued and brought back to health she was really afraid of hands. She was always very happy to see her foster mom and would roll around asking for pets, but she was still afraid of human hands.  After a couple of pets she would swat at the hand with just her pads, no claws.Arwen is now out and about playing with the other felines in her foster home. She has four playmates, and she loves them all! She has never, even from the very first time, hissed or growled at another cat. Even at the adoption events that are stressful in nature, she has never hissed at another cat. She is very playful and runs around with the 6 months old kittens, (it's a good match- she's a small cat!). From time to time the two neighborhood feral cats come in to say hi; they're all friends and Arwen is very curious about them.  Plus, it looks like sweet little Arwen has found herself a boyfriend- at least he thinks so!  It's endearing to witness. It's easy to see that the guys would like her; she prances around being light on her feet when she walks and run! She no longer is afraid of hands, as long as the hands don't make quick, rushed, and erratic movements, she loves, loves, loves to be petted, and she will purr up a storm if you let her.  She is still afraid of an erect body and a human body coming towards her, but even here she has changed dramatically with each passing day. Especially if she's up high on a cat tree or kitchen counter or the like, she has no problem with a body walking towards her. As a matter of fact, then she seeks out your hand for pets! Lately, Arwen has started to really want the human presence. Instead of running away, she has followed her foster parent around from room to room in the house; not glued to the heals, but all of a sudden she has appeared in the same room. Her foster mom was positively surprised the other day when her roommate told her that Arwen had come into the kitchen and rubbed against her legs, even though the roommate was fully standing up making tea. Later when the roommate was on the couch, Arwen came up next to her and rubbed her head against the roommates hand. Arwen needs patience, love, and understanding as she continues to recover from whatever made her so terribly scared.  Arwen would be best suited in a calm, quiet household where she can feel secure and safe.  If you're looking for a kitty who is low maintenance, but is a good playmate for your cat, Arwen would be your cat!  Arwen would not do well with children at this point in time, and wants a dog free home. Arwen is fixed, tested for FIV/Felv, microchipped, dewormed, flea treated, and up to date on vaccines. If you are interested in learning more about Arwen or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB 4/12/13       Beamish is truly wonderful kitty.  He's a big, handsome, soft tabby & white.  He loves to play with his toys!  His favorites are his tunnel and turbo scratcher.  Beam also loves to play with his kitty friends.  He is a very funny kitty – he sometimes likes to sleep on his back with his legs up in the air.  He also likes to snuggle in bed and purrs like a locomotive. He’ll come when you call him, “Beam!”  He makes an adorable chirping sound. Beamish needs a little extra care. He needs Miralax twice a day to keep his stool soft.  I put it in food in the morning and evening and he thinks it's a treat. DOB:  5/1/19 Beauty is a precious girl and a joy to have around. As long you provide her with some cuddle time, wet food, cat toys and a comfortable place to nap, she is a happy girl. But first, you have to earn her trust. She loves to play, wrestle and nap with her foster sister, Ebony (CF8832). It is fun to watch them chase one another up and down the cat tree and across the living room. In between play sessions, they like to bask in the sun and watch birds through the window. Beauty and Ebony are a bonded pair and are eager to find a forever home that will give them both lots of love.   If you are interested in meeting Beauty and Ebony, their foster mom is happy to arrange a playdate.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 4/4/20 Imagine waking up to a white furball cuddling on one side of you. She notices you are awake and starts to lick your face with affection. As you get ready for your day, she is right there with you, playing with her sister, and occasionally following you around, curious as to what you are doing. Now imagine coming home and seeing her charming white face looking up at you. As you pick her up to say hello she starts giving you kisses of affection and cuddling. Now imagine lounging in front of the tv after a long day, and the little white Bella comes up and lays on your chest and falls asleep. This is a typical day with Bella. Bella is a cuddler and a licker. She loves to lick as a sign of affection and will pass out anywhere on top of you. Her favorite toys are strings, and she loves playing in shoes. She is bonded with and needs to be adopted with her sister Luna. DOB: 10/9/01 Birdie was surrendered at 18 years of age to a high kill shelter.  She was advertised as a Yorkie, but when we arrived at the shelter to meet her we found that she was in fact an adorable poodle mix!  We welcomed her with open arms as a resident of our kitten nursery.  Another surprise for us … Birdie may be a senior girl, but she has the energy of a much younger dog.  She greets you with happy prances, and loves her walks.  She also likes to hang out with all the cats & kittens at the nursery, often stealing their beds and their food!  Birdie has a good appetite and loves her treats too!  She is in excellent health for her age and is looking to spend her retirement in a loving home with someone who is home all day so they can hang out and enjoy afternoon naps in front of the TV!  If you are interested in learning more about this dog or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB:  4/19/13   Chloe is precious, a real sweetheart who loves to be petted and receive lots of attention.  She is bonded with her sister, Trouble, and the two look almost identical.  Their foster family sometimes finds it difficult to tell them apart, not only because of their appearance, but also because of their sweet temperament.  Although Chloe can be shy, she warms up quite easily when spoken to softly and doted upon.  Chloe is a special girl who enjoys treats and wants to be spoiled.  Affectionate and purrfect, Chloe yearns for the day when she can roam freely in a home where she can be showered with love and share a nice, comfy bed with her family.  The sisters are looking for wonderful humans to welcome the both of them into their household.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 1/24/17 ******SPECIAL NEEDS******FIV+/FELV+****** He loves to eat. He loves to sleep. He loves to just sit back and chill. If a laid back cool guy were a cat, that cat would be Colby. We can say that because Colby will draw you to him with sleepy eye blinks and let you lavish affection on him. He’ll come chill with you on the couch while you binge Netflix. And he is so mellow. We have yet to see anything faze Colby and cause him to lose his composure. So yeah, Colby is one cool cat. And we think he’ll do well in a mellow and laid back forever home, either by himself or with fellow FeLV+ cats. He doesn’t mind sharing the space. As long as he has time to sleep, and be cool. Who wouldn’t want to take this chill cat home?  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB:  3/1/08 Cookie is known as a little love bug. She is currently at the Petsmart enclosures in Canoga Park and all the volunteer caregivers love her. They say she is so sweet and adorable and loves attention. At my house, she will come in as I watch TV and walk back and forth at my feet waiting for me to scratch her ears and pet her. She will look up at me and softly meow. Occasionally I can even pick her up and put her on my shoulder for a minute or two. Then she jumps down only to return in a few minutes. She, like a lot of kitties, does not like to be held for too long. And, of course, she always accompanies me to the bathroom in case I get lonely in there. I can approach her quietly (and say her name) while she is awake sitting on the bed to pet her. But, at this point, she is not a lapcat nor is she the type of cat that you can just walk up to and pick up. Perhaps, with time and patience, she will be. She loves ear and chin rubs and brushing.  She has a soft meow and a cute habit of eating with her paws. Cookie has a cute head tilt- she always looks like she is asking a question. Her soft fur is grey and white and her eyes are green. She is medium sized. Although she is an adult (she is 12 years old), she is very kitten like in nature. She loves to play with her toy mouse – she will toss it high in the air, catch it and off she runs.  If you can offer this sweet cat a home with a gentle approach, please consider her.
