About Cookie

DOB:  3/1/08 Look at Cookie’s sweet face! This sweet healthy kitty has an endearing head tilt and a wobbly little walk, left over from an ear infection as a baby. She looks like she is watching you intently, ready to ask a question. Her fur is soft - grey and white with a white tip on her tail. She was rescued from a mechanics yard as a baby. She loves to have her ears and chin rubbed. As I sit watching TV she comes over and looks up at me intently. That means she wants to be petted - her ears are the favorite spot. She will roll over on her back, showing her tummy to tell me how happy she is. Her favorite sleeping place is a soft bench in my living room. And she loves to accompany me to the bathroom in case I get lonely in there. She also loves to play with toys - tossing the furry mouse high in the air. Then she grabs it and off she goes, running with it. She gets along fine with other cats as long as they are docile and will not threaten her. Cookie is a low maintenance type of kitty. She has had a hard knock life and is just looking for a loving home.  If you are interested in learning more about Cookie or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 4/2013 Anabel just came back from a 2 year adoption, through no fault of her own. She's overcoming the resulting shyness very well. Originally found in the street, she thrives on love and attention, purrs, sleeps and cuddles with her foster mama, and comes running to greet you at the door. She's exceptionally large, especially long, and with her striking markings and big eyes we believe she's a good part Bengal. When she lived here before she would stand up, put her paws around the round doorknob, and open the door! She can be an only cat, but with careful introduction should be able to accept a companion. She's not an alpha cat at all. We want to be sure that, after all the changes she's been through, her next adoption will be the last. She loves young foster kittens If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 5/14/2012Arwen is a gorgeous little brown tabby and white girl with soft golden eyes.  This sweet girl was rescued from death along with her 4 less than 1 week old kittens.  The shelter had planned to kill the entire family but they were spared and brought to foster care just in the nick of time.  Arwen was in desperate shape, little more than skin and bones, and unable to care for her kittens.  She was weak, scared, and depressed.  The 4 babies were sent to a bottle feeder where they flourished and Arwen spent a solid week being syringe fed as she lacked the energy and motivation to even eat.  Time brought healing and as Arwen began to put on weight, she also began to take an interest in life again.  Arwen has made some tremendous strides forward and her progress in her new foster home has been lovely to experience. When first rescued and brought back to health she was really afraid of hands. She was always very happy to see her foster mom and would roll around asking for pets, but she was still afraid of human hands.  After a couple of pets she would swat at the hand with just her pads, no claws.Arwen is now out and about playing with the other felines in her foster home. She has four playmates, and she loves them all! She has never, even from the very first time, hissed or growled at another cat. Even at the adoption events that are stressful in nature, she has never hissed at another cat. She is very playful and runs around with the 6 months old kittens, (it's a good match- she's a small cat!). From time to time the two neighborhood feral cats come in to say hi; they're all friends and Arwen is very curious about them.  Plus, it looks like sweet little Arwen has found herself a boyfriend- at least he thinks so!  It's endearing to witness. It's easy to see that the guys would like her; she prances around being light on her feet when she walks and run! She no longer is afraid of hands, as long as the hands don't make quick, rushed, and erratic movements, she loves, loves, loves to be petted, and she will purr up a storm if you let her.  She is still afraid of an erect body and a human body coming towards her, but even here she has changed dramatically with each passing day. Especially if she's up high on a cat tree or kitchen counter or the like, she has no problem with a body walking towards her. As a matter of fact, then she seeks out your hand for pets! Lately, Arwen has started to really want the human presence. Instead of running away, she has followed her foster parent around from room to room in the house; not glued to the heals, but all of a sudden she has appeared in the same room. Her foster mom was positively surprised the other day when her roommate told her that Arwen had come into the kitchen and rubbed against her legs, even though the roommate was fully standing up making tea. Later when the roommate was on the couch, Arwen came up next to her and rubbed her head against the roommates hand. Arwen needs patience, love, and understanding as she continues to recover from whatever made her so terribly scared.  Arwen would be best suited in a calm, quiet household where she can feel secure and safe.  If you're looking for a kitty who is low maintenance, but is a good playmate for your cat, Arwen would be your cat!  Arwen would not do well with children at this point in time, and wants a dog free home. Arwen is fixed, tested for FIV/Felv, microchipped, dewormed, flea treated, and up to date on vaccines. If you are interested in learning more about Arwen or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 10/15/19 Aspen is lovely inside and out. She is a beautiful, affectionate, playful, lap-seeking missile.  When you come home, she will happily greet you at the door. When you take a nap she will quietly cuddle up beside you. If you want to binge watch your favorite show, Aspen will crawl into your lap and keep you company.  When Aspen is not cuddling with her human, she is chasing and wrestling with her foster siblings. Nap time is also one of her favorite times of day, so she can recharge her batteries and do it all over again.  Aspen is young and playful so she needs to be adopted together with one of her foster siblings (Piper is her favorite playmate - CF9122), or into a home with another kitty she can play with.  You owe it to yourself to meet Aspen and see firsthand what a great kitty she is.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB 4/12/13       Beamish is truly wonderful kitty.  He's a big, handsome, soft tabby & white.  He loves to play with his toys!  His favorites are his tunnel and turbo scratcher.  Beam also loves to play with his kitty friends.  He is a very funny kitty – he sometimes likes to sleep on his back with his legs up in the air.  He also likes to snuggle in bed and purrs like a locomotive. He’ll come when you call him, “Beam!”  He makes an adorable chirping sound. Beamish needs a little extra care. He needs Miralax twice a day to keep his stool soft.  I put it in food in the morning and evening and he thinks it's a treat. DOB:  5/1/19 Beauty is a precious girl and a joy to have around. As long you provide her with some cuddle time, wet food, cat toys and a comfortable place to nap, she is a happy girl. But first, you have to earn her trust. She loves to play, wrestle and nap with her foster sister, Ebony (CF8832). It is fun to watch them chase one another up and down the cat tree and across the living room. In between play sessions, they like to bask in the sun and watch birds through the window. Beauty and Ebony are a bonded pair and are eager to find a forever home that will give them both lots of love.   If you are interested in meeting Beauty and Ebony, their foster mom is happy to arrange a playdate.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 11/24/19 Some kitties sing for their supper, but Beauvoir does a full-on Hallelujah Chorus. She isn’t shy about telling you what’s on her mind, either. She knows when you’re coming home and will greet you with a meow or two before it’s off to play again. Beauvoir has a judgey face but don’t let it fool you she’s really a lover. She’s smaller than her brothers Camus and Sartre but that doesn’t stop her from holding her own in a wrestling match or box jumping contest. And she will give any and all toys the whatfor! When she’s done running amok with her siblings she loves a good lap and purrs when you pet her -- every time! Because she is so social Beauvoir needs to be in a home with another animal or two (her brothers Camus and Sartre would be a great companion)! DOB: 10/24/16 **Special needs*** FIV+ Benny is an amazing Russian Blue cat waiting for his furever home! He's super affectionate and loving, and very chill. He is very chatty and has an adorable bird-like chirp. He loves to greet you at the door and tell you all about his day! Benny is FIV+, but he is in great health. Our experience with FIV+ cats is that they have the same life expectancy as non-FIV kitties and they love their people just the same. FIV is an auto-immune deficiency that is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat and it requires direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissible to humans. Benny gets along with everyone and would be an excellent family pet.
