You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  HI! I'M ASHER! I like long walks in the neighborhood and love to play! First thing people and canines notice about me are my bright green eyes! Darn Im handsome! My foster parents tell me I am a good boy and notice when I first meet people I am a little timid and shy but I slowly warm up and love the attention and compliments that come thereafter. When I lived with my former dad, I wasnt well socialized and got hurt by two of my siblings, so, I get nervous and scared of other dogs when we go for our walks(im dog reactive) and we are working on that. My foster family are working with me now and were learning how to meet and greet new people and pets.Even though I get scared when I see other dogs, I LOVE my foster parents dogs! I LOVE to play with my foster mommy and her fur children (be part of the pack) and I am also told I think I am a lap dog! I love to snuggle and get some lovin. My former owner told my foster mommy that I was his 'therapy' dog. I snuggled with my dad when he was having a hard day or suffering from ptsd. I AM a good boy, I just need some training to work on my socialization skills and learning how to trust and greet new fur friends. I get along well with my foster parents dogs but I am learning how to greet new dogs; as for cats, I do not chase or show aggression to my foster moms but Im working on properly greeting them since Im excited to see them. I think I will do well with a cat/s that is used to dogs.. Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. I had an sad start to life, my mother died when I and my siblings were just two weeks old. Thankfully, we found AARF Houston and we have done exceptionally well in our foster homes! I am very energetic and would like a home with a yard, maybe a fur-sibling or two and someone that will walk me daily! I love to play with my siblings and foster moms dogs!  My foster mom believes I would do best in a home that is active and will take me on lots of walks. I should be around 40-45 pounds when full grown. My mother looked to be a German Shepard/Heeler mix and dad could be a stafford terrier/pit bull mix.  He is the sweetest boy and would love if you'll allow him to sleep with you in bed- if not he understan ds but that would be  an added bonus  :)  Since I am a puppy, I will need a lot of patience and guidance, but if you choose to adopt me I promise to give you tons of love and be the best furever family member! I am working hard on potty training and my adoption fee includes four rounds of shots, rabies shots, neuter and microchip (at a regular vet all of these services would cost over $500!)  If you'd like to meet me, please click on "Interested in adopting?" and follow the instructions :) Hope to meet you and your family soon!  ========================================================= Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello,  My name is Dixie and I am searching for a loving family to call my own.   I might be 11 years of age but please don't call me old.  My age is merely a number however you would think I was a young sassy gal at heart with lots of spirit in my step.  I have no health conditions and I eat a regular diet.  I love carrots and fresh baked chicken jerky for a treat.  I love playing with toys, bones to chew are my favorite and I have little interest in fabric filled toys.  I enjoy chasing tennis balls around the house for physical activity. I love a Kong filled with peanut butter and will play with kong for hours.  It is a nice treat and keeps me stimulated if I am not outside.  I absolutely love to snuggle and love lots of petting especially at my ears, head and face. I get along great with my large foster brother and everyone I meet.  He and I love taking long walks together.  I  love my foster moms back yard to soak up some sun or lay in the sun at an open door.  I am very gentle and passive and just want to please whoever gives me attention.  I am a happy dog who needs little care beyond the basics.  I know all basic commands very well to include "sit pretty", "high five" and "kiss for a treat".   My tail wags constantly and lets you know I am just a happy pup.   I love my crate and will near burrow myself amidst the blankets. I enjoy going to the crate on my own to take long naps.   I would be perfect for someone who wants a loving companion to go for walks or just have an easy going healthy pup to love.   I haven't experienced living with cats except for seeing those who walk our back fence and I could care less about them.   I can't wait to find my furever home!   Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org  for more information about this dog. Duke is an awesome dog.  Previous vet guessed him at 5/6 years old but he acts more like a 2/3 year old.  He loves to play fetch, tug-a-war (he always wins) chase with the other dogs and being loved on.  If allowed, he would climb his 51 lbs up in your lap for a nap.  We are working on his walking on a leash without pulling and he is anxious to please. Duke needs a loving family he can be a part of.  He came out of his shell once he was brought home. Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cardigan Welsh Corgi mixFinch and his siblings were owner surrendered.   Their mom is a full bred Corgi, and Dad is a Corgi mix.    This litter will need a lot of TLC, at 6 months old, they have had very little human interaction.  They are fearful, and shy.  We are doing our best to socialize them and expect that they will respond well and quickly. They are not appropriate for small children and only will be adopted to families with older (over 10) considerate children.   This is for their safety as well as the child.   There will be no exceptions.  ========================================================= Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area.  Please call for specific locations. Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children.
