Luna is a happy, boisterous, fun-loving 1.5 year old lab/shepherd mix. She is intelligent, likes learning things and learns fast. She has a high energy level and needs a lot of exercise. She does settle and relax once she gets her ya yas out. She would make a great hiking, running or biking companion. She would also love romping with an active family.   Luna came into a shelter as a stray, so we don’t know her history. We suspect she was a backyard dog and not taught to interact appropriately with humans or other animals. We are working on this, and she is willing and able to learn. She likes people, likes attention, just expresses herself with a little too much enthusiasm.   She is afraid of some men, not all. It spooks her to have them touch the side of her face or top of her head. We think she has probably been hit. She does not want to bite, and chooses flight versus fight. She could possibly snap if cornered by a person who scares her. We are also working on this, and it is getting much better. Once she gets acquainted with a scary person, she accepts them.   Regarding kids, she loves them and is gentler with them than she is with adults. She is a bit too rough for tiny kids. 10 and older would probably be best.   Regarding dogs, Luna likes the bad boys! Seriously, she does prefer male dogs who are strong minded enough to not let her boss them around. And, they like her too! With gentler, more docile dogs, she is pushy to the level of bullying. They do not want to play with her.   Luna loves to chase a toy. She hasn’t learned to bring it back yet, so that will give her forever owner a fun project.    Luna is crate trained, loves car rides, and will love being a part of whatever activities her family like doing.    For more information on Luna, or to arrange to meet her, contact Kathy at kathy@staranimalrescue.org.  To see all of STAR's wonderful adoptable animals, visit us on Facebook (please Like our page- staranimalrescue) or go to our website www.staranimalrescue.org. show less
