Say hello to Belle. This little Chihuahua may be 10 years old but her foster mom tells us that she is quite young at heart. She came to us from a small shelter in Elmendorf TX just before the holidays. Her foster mom tells us that Belle is about as sweet as they come. She is used to being with someone and loving them with everything she has. She is very loyal and would make the perfect companion for someone who adores her. She is already housebroken and does well with other dogs and cats too. If you think this little Belle of the ball is meant to be part of your family and you are interested in learning more and speaking with her adoption coordinator and foster mom please fill out an application at www.caretx.org/adopt. This dog was rescued from a kill shelter or the streets and has been evaluated for medical and temperament to prepare for a forever home and is in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas* and is ready to fly to its final destination once adopted. The adoption fee of $800 covers spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and air transport. Please email Emily at adoptions@caretx.org if you have any question. * CARE rescue is in San Antonio, TX where we have a serious pet overpopulation situation. Meet Chevy! This little guy came to CARE from a rural shelter in a place called Goliad, TX. He is a quiet well behaved 6 month old little pup who is very happy about having a future with a loving forever family! We arent quite sure of Chevy's breed mix but we think he may have some Dachshund in the mix because of his long body and short legs. Since coming to us Chevy has been in a forever home with his brother Rocket and a few playmates and he is settling in very well with family life. Out of both brothers Chevy is the most outgoing one. He loves getting human attention and cuddles. If you think you may be the perfect forever family for Chevy please contact us! To find out more information on this dog please apply to adopt on our website at http://www.caretx.org/adopt and CARE will be in touch with you ASAP! Meet Dillan, He came to CARE from the city shelter in a large group of dogs. They were all in pretty rough condition and showed some signs of neglect. Thankfully things are finally looking up for Dillan and his family. Since leaving the shelter Dillan has been at CARE in a foster home where he is being showered with love. His foster mom tells us that he is reserved at first but once he opens up is as sweet and gentle as they come. Dillan is about 13lbs and we believe he is about 3 years old. Meet Escobar, he came to CARE when the rescue pulled his mom from the shelter while she was pregnant with two puppies! His mom was fostered by a vet on the CARE team and she gave birth to Escobar and his sister Cruz. We are so happy these two pups never had to experience life in the shelter and their lives are going to continue to get even better as they find their own forever homes. The puppies are about 3 months old so it wont be long until they are ready to leave the nest. Meet Jake. This fella has quite the story. We were told Jake spent most of his life with a family. Sadly his owner passed away and Jake was given up at an estate sale. Somehow after being passed around to different owners Jake found himself in the worst position he had ever been in. He was unwanted and living with a terrible person. Jake's "owner" took him to a vet's office to be put down because Jake is old he no longer wanted him. We find it heartbreaking that this is something that vets here encounter because to many people dogs are just things. We could go on and on about how terrible humans were to Jake but this story isn't about the people who failed him, its about Jake getting another chance at a family. Thankfully someone at the vets office where he was taken to be euthanized pleaded with the owner to surrender Jake to them instead of ending his life. That is when CARE was called. After Jake saw our vet we learned that he is about 10 years old, healthy and spry! Age is not a disease and it was no reason to end this happy pups life. Jake is now in a foster home where he happily follows the humans around and interacts with the other dogs. We considered giving him a new name for his new start to life but his foster shared that as she was driving to pick him up the song "Feed Jake" came on her radio. As the song says Jake is a good boy, he's just looking for someone to be a best friend to! "Now i lay me down to sleep And pray the Lord my soul to keep If i die before i wake, feed Jake He's been a good dog My best friend right through it all If i die before i wake, feed Jake" If you think Jake is meant to be part of your family and you are interested in learning more and speaking with his adoption coordinator and foster mom please fill out an application at www.caretx.org/adopt. Meet Java! This little pup won us all over on his very first day at CARE. He has the cutest little legs and brindle coloring. He is about 2 months old and came to CARE from the city shelter. His breed is a mystery to us but we think he will be a small dog when he is full grown. The shelter had him listed as a Chihuahua but we dont see much of that in his looks. Java is very sweet and is looking for a family to spoil him and give him all the love he has missed out on in the shelter so far. Meet Keira, She came to CARE with her four puppies to find a better life for her little family. Her puppies are all on the way to finding forever homes and Keira is hoping to find her own home too! She is currently in a foster home getting babied herself and loving every minute of it! Keira is only about 20lbs so she is quite the little lady. She can be a bit shy at first but once she warms up to people she is very affectionate. Her foster family has a 10 year old grand daughter who Keira has befriended, she even loves to sleep in the bed with her overnight. Keira doesnt mind the other dogs in the house but she is not really the playful type. She would do fine in a home where she gets to be the spoiled only dog!
