Petite yellow lab! Sweet, loving, athletic, energetic and playful. Meet Becca. This adorable pup ended up at a vet clinic after being abandoned in their neighborhood. Becca loves attention from her people and loves, loves playing with other dogs. At her foster home, she plays and cuddles up with dogs of all sizes. She runs and sits in her crate in the morning waiting for her treat to be delivered before foster Mom goes to work. In the evening after some exercise, she likes to sit close and just be with everyone. She loves her food and is very treat motivated. Becca thrives best when she has a large yard to run around and chase birds and squirrels who dare to enter her domain. Crowded and noisy city life is not for her. Want to know more? Hi! My name is Blue. I am a 7 year-old, spaniel-beagle mix. I was adopted from Red Collar Rescue with my brother, Red, about 5 years ago. We’ve been returned to Red Collar due to changes in our Mom’s life and are now looking for a new home together. Please check out Red’s profile too; we’re quite the handsome dynamic duo. I enjoy running, being near the water (but not in it), and chasing lizards. I also love hanging out with my brother Red and cleaning his eyes/ears for him (Yes...it's adorable!). My all-time favorite thing to do is snuggle under a blanket, preferably with my human. I am very loving and loyal. Even though I’m a little older, I’m still full of energy and full of love. I also have the cutest under-bite that you have to see. Just like my brother, I’m fully housebroken, good with kids, and good with other dogs. *Calvin is currently being fostered in HOUSTON, TX. He is available for local or out-of-state adoption to the perfect family! Transport to out-of-state adopter will be coordinated by Red Collar Rescue and is included in the adoption fee. Calvin was adopted from RCR in 2012 as a young Lab. He was recently found injured and alone, wandering in a park, and was picked up by animal control. He did not have on a collar and tag, but thankfully RCR was contacted through his microchip. We tried to reach his adopter, but to no avail. We immediately took Calvin to the vet. He had torn ACLs on both of his back legs, making it difficult for him to walk. Calvin has had orthopedic surgeries to repair both of his rear legs, and he is currently going through physical therapy to help him walk again without pain. Although he has been making steady progress, he is expected to always have some limitations in his mobility. Specifically, his hind legs are bowed out when he walks; he can only tolerate walks up to 1/2 mile at a time. Despite that, Calvin still has plenty of life in him. His hearing, eye sight and sense of smell are as sharp as any young dogs. Everything (except his legs) works perfectly in him! Calvin is a big loving lug of a dog. He's perfectly house trained and he does well in a kennel. He doesn't touch anything that's not his. He is quiet most of the time, but he will alert you if he hears something outside the house. A perfect alarm system! Though he is a senior dog, he still loves to play some. He loves his tennis ball and will make a pirate growl when he wants you to play fetch with him. His exercise need is low. But he loves his daily walks and is always ready to go with you. Meet Clint, as in Eastwood but less steely - more cuddly. Clint is a handsome chocolate lab mix with that adorable one ear up / one ear down thing going on. Clint came to Red Collar with an old injury to his rear left leg. We had him checked out by an orthopedic surgeon, who advised that we leave his leg as is. Clint uses that leg just fine and it doesn't cause him any pain. The leg is a little shorter than his other three due to the way it originally healed. Clint is sweet, enthusiastic and loves attention. He loves people and other dogs. He regularly spends time in doggie daycare and enjoys playing with all the other pups. She was found as a stray with an embedded collar, sores all over her body and a serious skin infection. She was literally missing all of her hair! We didn't know what color she was. She had surgery on her neck wound and began intensive treatment for her skin condition. She displayed an incredibly sweet attitude, despite her horrible condition. Fast forward a couple of months-a lovely gray coat has emerged. Collins is a typical sweet and happy pup. Hi there. My name is Cream Cheese. I was at the city shelter, very scared, and because I cowered in the back of my kennel, I was moved to the euthanasia list. I got my name because volunteers working to get me out of the shelter kept calling me "that cream chi" - and so I became Cream Cheese. Lucky for me, Red Collar saw I was just a timid little boy, and got me out of there to safety. I have been settling in at my foster's home, and enjoying my foster siblings. I am still a bit anxious, but love getting treats, taking walks and cuddling safe in my foster's arms. I am very sweet. I will be your best friend if you just give me some time and a little TLC. This is Dazee. LOVES LOVES LOVES toys. In fact, her love of toys saved her life! Dazee was found as a stray and brought to the city shelter. Due to overcrowding and her shyness, she was put on the euth list. A shelter volunteer who had pushed hard to save her, stopped by at the end of the day to say good-bye. No rescue had tagged her and her time was up. The volunteer was greeted by Dazee with a wiggly butt and holding a tennis ball in her mouth. She wanted to play! The volunteer was stopped in her tracks: there was no way we could lose this girl now. She took Dazee home to foster and contacted Red Collar, hoping we would take in her. And we did. Unfortunately, Dazee then hit a rough patch. We found out she was pregnant about the same time she came down with pneumonia. Our vet determined that she was septic and she lost her babies. We almost lost her. Dazee has now bounced back to health and is gaining some much needed weight. She's ready for a happy new life in her forever home. Dazee is a sweet and gentle pup with a wiggly butt. Often sighted with a toy in her mouth. She likes dogs of all sizes and is kid friendly too. She enjoys playtime, but has a calm nature. Hello, my name is Lonestar, as my heart is as big as Texas! I was hit by a car and taken to the shelter in critical condition. Red Collar was contacted and rushed to pick me up and take me to the ER. My front leg was broken in several places, I had a large deep gash across the back of my neck which required numerous stitches and a suction drain. The worst wound was on my left flank. The trauma caused a huge area to gangrene, leaving an open wound approximately 7 inches in diameter on my side, with no skin to sew back together, thus requiring daily debridement of dead tissue and laser therapy. I spent numerous days in 24/7 critical care. It is a miracle that I survived! Took me 4 months to heal. I have a few scars from the incident, but medically I am good as new! I am about 1 year old and 17 lbs. I am living in a foster home with several K9 kids of all sizes, and get along with all of them. I am searching for a special forever home! Hi there! My name is Lonnie. I am an unbelievably happy girl. My whole body wiggles with a zest for life. I have adorable marking with circles around each eye, looking like I have on goggles. I just know we are going to be best friends. I lived on the street for a while before being picked up by animal control and taken to the shelter. Sadly, there were so many of us homeless pets, that the shelter was full with nowhere to keep me. I was minutes away from losing my life when a volunteer from Red Collar Rescue rushed to the shelter and pulled me to safely…whew…that was close. Now I’m looking for a home and family. I love to run and play. Playtime isn’t sometime I just dabble in; I play at the professional level – all in. The most important thing your need to know about me, however – I LOVE TOYS. "Toy Fanatic" may be the right term. If allowed I would carry a toy in my mouth everywhere, even on walks. People and other dogs might give me strange looks, but I’ve gotta keep my toy friends close. I’m energetic and athletic (would make a great running companion), but I have my softer side too. I like to give and get hugs and kisses. Snuggles and naps are the best after playtime activity. My name is Mattis. I was at the overcrowded city shelter and oh so scared with all the noise and strange activity. I was also losing my hair from a slight case of mange, so I wasn't given the opportunity to go to their adoption facility. I was on the list to be put down when a shelter volunteer met me and saw what a good, friendly boy I was. She couldn't leave me to a bad fate, so she contacted Red Collar Rescue and took me home to foster . When I was neutered to get ready for adoption, I also had xrays - and two pellets were found in me! It hurt to get shot but it was awhile ago, I am all healed and I hold no grudge against people for the action of one bad person. Now I am just enjoying my new life. I love hanging out with my foster Mom and my new foster siblings. And I think my foster Mom is so lucky to have me! I'm one of her best doggies. I just chill in my kennel when she is at work or busy at home. I go right outside to potty, enjoy my walks and REALLY love my treats. I have a very calm, well-mannered demeanor, I am just a laid back dude. When you give me the love I have always wanted and I will give it right back to you. show less

Hi Guys, My name is Phoenix. Just like the Greek Mythology bird that is known to be born again....I too am born again! I have definitely had my share of trials and tribulations! I had a family that did not take care of me, and I ended up as a stray. As I was trying to survive on the street, a growth appeared on my foot, that kept getting bigger and bigger. It was like walking with a ball & chain. I was picked up by animal control and taken to the shelter. It was nice to have food, but I quickly realized my days were numbered. The shelter staff felt sorry for me, and reached out to some groups to see if anyone could help me. I was so lucky that Red Collar came to my rescue. I had surgery to remove the tumor from my foot...it weighed 5 lbs! I could finally walk again. And the even better news...the growth was not malignant! But it was also determined that I had an old fracture in my femur that healed badly, so RCR took me to Texas A&M to see the best orthopedic surgeon who operated and made my leg good as new! I have now had 2 surgeries and am all healed up and ready for my forever home! I am about 2 years old and 40 lbs. I am a very sweet guy who loves to snuggle, and go on walks, hang out, watch TV and more. I get along well with my K9 buddies too! I just know we would get along great! He was confiscated by the police, from a home where he was being abused, and taken to a local animal shelter. His physical scars where not as bad as his emotional scars. He is timid with people, understandably so, and sadly his shyness landed him on the kill-list at the shelter. RCR could not stand the thought of Rolex losing his life because of the way humans had treated him, so we rushed to the shelter and got him in the nick of time! Hi Guys, Smuggler here! I am named after the breath taking beautiful Smuggler Mountain in Colorado, because my coat is white as snow! I somehow ended up homeless and on the street searching for food. Some people were not very nice to me, so it took a while for me to trust anyone enough to be rescued. But here I am now, living the good life and getting lots of TLC! I have had the works...vaccines, neuter, micro-chip, etc...and am a perfectly healthy pup! I LOVE other dogs and need to be in a home with a k9 sibling to make me feel more comfortable. I am timid with new people, and need someone that will be patient with me while I learn to trust again. It takes more than one meet and greet for me to warm up to new people. Fast moves and loud noises scare me, so I prefer to be in a home with adults, as young children are a bit too much for me. I also would do best living in a house with a yard to play in. An apartment building is too busy and all the people and activity scare me. I am crate trained and house-trained and also learning my basic commands. I still get nervous on walks, but am doing better. I am a very gentle and sweet boy and hope to have my forever home soon. Has a gorgeous coat with the coloring of a Catahoula and blue/green eyes like a Catahoula, with the body shape of a Whippet. Sprint is about 2 years old and 33 lbs. Sprint was a stray that ended up at the shelter. Sadly it appeared that she was nursing puppies, but they were not brought in with her. Sprint was given a few days at the shelter, and then deemed too stressed for adoption. She was put on the kill-list, and was in the line to be euthanized. Somehow, she got away and sprinted over to a group of dogs that were outside. She just wanted to play! RCR heard of her attempt at freedom, and we knew we had to give this brave little girl another chance! We named her Sprint, as her speed is what saved her life! Sprint loves to play with her doggie friends, and is no longer shy with people either! She is looking for her best friend to start her new life! This little boy was pulled by Red Collar just before Christmas. He had been hit by a car and his owners dropped him off at the city shelter instead of taking him to a vet, His back leg was severely injured and could not be saved. Tiny Tim is recovering nicely and is as sweet as can be. A real lap dog. show less

*Wrangler is currently being fostered in HOUSTON, TX. He is available for local or out-of-state adoption to the perfect family! Wrangler wants you to know that he’s a friendly and happy pup looking for a great family! Wrangler found himself the victim of a car crash, and ended up in a small county shelter with a broken front leg. Injured animals are the first to be euthanized at the shelter. Red Collar received a special request to save this boy, and we could not turn our backs. Exam and x-rays revealed that Wrangler’s leg was indeed fractured. We tried to save his leg, but it was too far gone, and had to be amputated. Wrangler is between 1-2 years old and 37 lbs. He is super handsome with his beautiful white coat! He is in a foster home where he plays nicely with both big and little K-9 friends. He is also crate-trained and house-trained. Want to make this great boy a part of your family?? Zak is super happy to be alive! Zak came to us with infected wounds on the inside and outside of his forelimbs, and bloody, raw, swollen pads, making it impossible for him to walk. The vets suspected chemical or thermal burn to his back paws. Zak received daily hydrotherapy and laser therapy, and was in recovery for over a month! He is now all healed and ready to find his forever home! Zak is a remarkably good-natured boy, considering all he has been through! He loves humans and enjoys playtime with his doggie friends.
