Burr & Rita are a delicious pair of four month old kittens. Rita is the tabby fluffball who is passionate about sparkle balls and the kitchen sink. She is a talented climber who constantly challenges herself with impossible heights around the house. She values companionship as well as personal space, depending on her mood and the time of the day. She is elegant, stylish, and loves a good brush every so often. Cali and Chicky are two affectionate and stylish senior ladies. Both are very easy going and calm cats.  Cali, the one with black around both eyes, is the younger of the bonded duo at approximately 7 years old.  She is a little shy but her sweet personality comes out as she becomes more comfortable around you.  Chicky, the one with orange around one eye and black around the other, is Cali's 10 plus year old mother or cool aunt.  She is a snuggle bug, who can never get enough rubs. These two loving ladies were abandoned by their previous owner and lived together on the streets of BedStuy until they were rescued.  They are noticeably grateful to be indoors again and Chicky is especially excited to receive human affection.  The duo has coexisted peacefully with the other cats in their current foster home and are very gentle in general.  Must be adopted as a pair. show less

Cathy Hillman came to us as an orange hot mess -- super scrawny, super sick and with no desire to eat. It took a few weeks before she started feeling a little better (thanks to antibiotics and a strong dose of TLC), but even while she was sick, she charmed us with her ridiculous personality and demanding meow. Cathy has probably been through a lot, but she is such a joy! She is very affectionate and adores attention. Charlie and Felix are best friends and brothers who are a little over a year old. Charlie doesn't have a mean bone in his body - his foster mom says that he is the sweetest cat she's ever met! He sneaks into bed in the morning to cuddle and ask for breakfast :) He enjoys playing laser tag, watching birds from the window and cuddling and wrestling with his brother. Felix is gentle and shy. He needs patience and lots of love to feel comfortable, and he will come to you when he is ready. His warm expression shows that he cares and appreciates you. If these bonded brothers accidentally end up in separate rooms, it won't be long before one is calling out for the other. Cliff McCormack is a cuddly and extremely handsome brown tabby looking for some new friends. This insanely affectionate young fellow was found abandoned outside public housing in Fort Greene. He was overjoyed to be scooped up and join a foster home with dogs and cats (he loves them both) and although was not as excited to be neutered, he took it in stride. Now in tip-top health, Cliff is ready for his forever family -- the more snuggles the better! He loves to headbutt, give hugs and be carried around. Coco is a two year old active and affectionate brindle pit mix with a complicated past who is looking for a home with patient and experienced people willing to continue her training. Coco was initially adopted unspayed from the city shelter by a family with semi-permanent housing and therefore moved around a lot and had at least one litter of puppies. She came to us during a project of spaying and neutering cats at a homeless shelter. It's unclear how much time Coco had been able to spend outside and it appears that most of her experience with other dogs had been traumatic. Coco is very dog-reactive and at this point has yet to be able to interact with other dogs. Fast forward a few months and this dog has become our shadow. Tiny chance she thinks she is a cat (who could blame her considering she lives at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe), but she is also OBSESSED with playing fetch -- so much so, that she has been known to toss the ball for herself. She loves to cuddle and give hugs and is extremely obedient when inside. If given the chance, she will curl up with you at night, snoring gently. Due to being so dog-reactive, it is hard to capture her focus when outside. That said, she is continually improving. Coco still needs some extensive training to have the confidence and ability for casual strolls on the sidewalk without occasionally losing her mind and barking her head off at nearby dogs. We are still working on her dog aggression, but feel that in order to make permanent progress, she needs more stability and more attention. We would love to find a foster to adopt home for Coco to continue honing her skills. We can provide some ongoing support -- either via phone and/or in person if you are located near Brooklyn Heights or Fort Greene or have a car and are willing to come to us. We've taken some extra time before listing Coco for adoption because she is still a work in progress, but aren't we all? We would love if Coco found a home with access to backyard or outdoor space or in an area that isn't as saturated with dogs as Brooklyn Heights to give her a more relaxed chance to work on her outside skills  Coco adores cats, but does like to chase and play hard. Although Coco has yet to make a dog friend, it is very possible that with appropriate (and probably very slow) introduction, she would really enjoy and thrive in a household with another dog. She clearly wants to play, just doesn't know how yet. Freya, Dahlia and Diana are 4 month old kittens, they are sisters. Their lives started in an upstate NY backyard, where their rescuer has embarked on a TNR (Trap Neuter Release) Project. Their mom and dad have been spayed and neutered and released to their territory, but their kittens deserve a different fate. Diana says: I am attached to my sister Dahlia. We can often be found cuddling each other in our foster home. We were shy at first, but once we were around humans for a while, we have really opened up. I would love to be adopted with Dahlia! My foster mom says I look more like a snow leopard, and that my facial structure is twice the size of my sisters. What a wackadoo! Mama Easter Bunny is quite a character. Easter Bunny was initially spotted by rescuers in Midwood, Brooklyn last April. She was obviously pregnant and even more obviously suffering from serious health issues, but she was in such distress and panic that we were unable to trap her until she gave birth (on Easter Sunday) and we could use her kittens to entice her into the trap. This poor young mama cat was immediately rushed to the vet as she was suffering from severe mastitis, and not only was she unable to nurse and care for her kittens, but she needed extensive medical care and weeks of antibiotics. Throughout all of this, Easter Bunny pretended as though she didn't want to be friends. She would hiss at us and bop our hands away, but allowed us to clean and medicate her wounds. Once she started healing, Easter Bunny started yelling at us. A lot. She made it very clear that she was bored and lonely. Since her kittens were doing well in their foster, we gave Easter Bunny some foster kittens of her own -- and this ridiculously sweet cat was over the moon. Since the spring, our Easter Bunny has raised, cleaned and played with many young orphan kittens who need help learning how to "cat" -- and Easter Bunny has had a lot of practice learning what to do with humans. Although she is still a bit hissy (and boppy), Easter Bunny adores attention and being pet. She even occasionally give kisses during a particularly good snuggle. This weirdo most definitely needs to be adopted into a home with at least one VERY active playmate and with humans who understand and enjoy her quirkiness and who will give her the patience and understanding she needs. show less

Joy and Palmolive are sweet and playful bonded sisters looking for a home together (although they refuse to pose in the same picture). Not only are these girls snuggly and affectionate, but they are also deeply invested in kondo-ing their surroundings (Palmolive was actually considering changing her name to Spark, but decided to stick with her cleaning product namesake). Joy (darker brown tabby) and Palmolive were rescued as tiny kittens with their mom and brothers (Ajax and Borax, already adopted) in horrible shape -- malnourished, sick and recovering from awful dog bites. We have no idea how these sweethearts haven't been snapped-up yet! We hope to find them a home in time to celebrate their one year birthday in style and time is running out! show less

Juno is a gorgeous, young, gray and white cat with piercing green eyes, who is very affectionate, friendly with everyone and loves to snuggle on the bed or the couch. Though she can be very shy at first, she quickly warms up and rolls over for kisses and a belly rub (if you're lucky!) or head scratch. Juno can be playful, but doesn't require a lot of attention in terms of toys. She loves perching in the windowsill and watching the world go by when she's not cuddling with her humans. She had kittens in 2017 and was as an incredible mother, loving and devoting, but is since spayed. After a few months of TLC and a visit to the cardiologist, we learned that Karla is only a couple years old and is healthy and happy and ready for adoption! Karla would prefer to be your own and only cat although may be able to tolerate a quiet and considerate feline roommate. Karla is spayed, fully vaccinate and FIV/FeLV negative. She will be on daily heart medication for life, but it's very inexpensive and easy to administer. show less

These lovely ladies have been with us since they were a few weeks old, and over a year later, we can't understand why they haven't been adopted! Kat is an adorable wide-eyed brown tabby girl who is frisky and loves to romp around and play with toys and her friends. She is affectionate and likes to roll around on the sofa as a way to get everyone’s attention. Meghan (all black) can be a little shyer at first, but quickly learns who her friends are and is extremely affectionate. We think she is the brains of the operation. Seeing as she is so genteel, she isn't crazy about really young children. Calm, older children who respect her space and autonomy will earn her respect and affection in return. Princess Leia and Padme are now almost five months old, gorgeous, playful and looking for a forever home! Padme is a nonstop play monster, always leaping and sprinting. Madeleine, the mama of this litter, though cautious at first, is appreciative of your care. She loves pets and ear rubs, and rests her head in your hand once she knows you. Super quick and playful, she is as fast as a kitten in pursuit of a toy. She found herself outdoors and about to give birth at 8 months old, having had most of her tail broken off. Her bobbed tail healed completely and does not slow her down in the least. She was a great mom and never rejected any of her kittens. She's especially tight with Mon Ami, who would love to stay with his mom if possible. Mon Ami is the athlete of the litter. He can jump higher and run faster than the rest, landing with silent grace, but once he has had some play time, he wants his share of pets and rubs and shows his mellow side. He lets his brother get some petting first, but he watches and waits his turn the whole time. He loves to go exploring with his mama Madeleine. Mighty Righty also loves to play with his siblings, mama, and humans, but his first priority is getting cuddles, pets, and rubs. Mia had a real rough time getting to us! She was left in a carrier in front of ACC with no information about her past. Initially, she was very scared and we weren't sure if she was friendly or feral, but after some time to get to know us, she let her guard down and now constantly demands attention and affection! We think that Mia is still pretty young, probably around a year old, and she would be happiest in a home all to herself -- no other cats, dogs or kids. Midge and Max Maisel came from a hoarding situation with their newborn baby who sadly didn’t make it. We hadn’t previously experienced a dad co-parenting and were very impressed with Max’s concern and care for his young child — especially since Midge wanted nothing to do with her. Perhaps she was more interested in starting a career in comedy? Now that these young cats have fewer responsibilities, we’re learning much more about their carefree personalities. Midge (calico) is very sassy, but also a big cuddle bug. She adores playing yet always has time to curl up with her favorite humans. Max (white and grey) is a hoot! He’s much less active than his girlfriend (ex-wife?) and very lazy, but super snuggly! Midge and Max don’t necessarily have to be adopted together, but we think they’d really enjoy finding a forever home with each other. Even if they don’t go together, neither would be happy as a single cat, so if you’re interested in only one, you need to have an active cat playmate at home already. show less

Come meet Mo McLovin, the super-cutest, cuddliest lover boy to walk into your arms! When you come home from work, Mo will rub against your legs until you sit down on the couch where he will put his paws around your neck and give your face head-bunts and kisses. He loves to be picked up or to sit on your lap. Or he will look up at you with his beautiful, green eyes in his big, round face, and chirp a greeting. Basically, he wants to be wherever you are and will seek to be close to you. He also likes to play, and is enjoying a variety of string toys. His fur is soft and tan-colored with faint tabby streaking, and dark, black streaks on his legs and tail. He has big, meaty black paws that he kneads in the air while you pet him. We believe Mo is about 2 years old. He was out on the streets and started coming regularly to a feral cat feeding station in Ditmas Park. He was terrified and would not let anyone come close. Everyone thought he was feral, but his rescuer had a hunch and trapped him and brought him home. He cowered in his cage for the day, until the Temptations treats were brought out, and boom! Mo McLovin was in the house! Purrs, and rubs, and head bunts all around! The two videos are from the first day he was brought in when he discovered he was in a safe place. Mo would probably be best as a single cat. Mo is shy of people he hasn't met yet, and he might hide or be scared on a first meeting with you. It takes him about a day to come out of his shell. If you're looking for a foster-to-adopt situation that would be a great way to test the waters. If you give him a chance you will be rewarded! Rescued from the city shelter, they are spayed and neutered as appropriate and ready for a home of their own.  The Dad's name is Mufasa and he is the most outgoing. Sarabi, the mom, can be a little shyer but appreciates quiet attention, And Simba, the baby loves to be bribed with carrots. This family has learned to tolerate and ignore our cats but always gets excited when visitors come by and interact with them. Guinea pigs are great pets! They are easy to care for and tend to be healthy. They have individual personalities and even purr like cats! They make interesting sounds and when they are excited they like to jump straight into the air. They tend to live at least 5 to 7 years. Wise beyond her years, Peggy ALWAYS knows when someone is looking for her, assumes the worst (which generally means a nail trim) and makes herself scarce. Perhaps she has ESP, perhaps she is just a really smart cat. Peggy is very playful and enjoys hanging and wrestling with other cats. Rescued from a lab when they were 6 weeks old, these boys had no experience with other rats or people. Brought to live at Brooklyn Cat Cafe, Pinky, The Brain, Snowball, Billie Pharfignewton and Larry were so excited to make friends with other rats and eat a variety of fresh foods. They were less excited to meet the cats they live with, but they are co-existing with aplomb.  Rats make great pets! They are quite independent, loyal, affectionate and easily trained. They can be trained to a number of tricks, recognize their name and come when called, and even use a litter box! Studies have shown that rats display many of the same emotions as humans, including empathy, helpfulness, and loneliness. They are also relatively affordable and aren’t a 15 to 20 year long commitment like cats and dogs. For all these reasons, our boys hope soon to find a family of their own who will give them all the attention and cuddling they feel they deserve. show less

He was sweet and just sat around waiting for people to pet him or feed him day and night! As it grew colder, neighbors simply took him inside - and he has had no trouble adapting to a fully-indoor lifestyle. He is docile, independent, and sweet. He perks up for food and head scratches. She likes to be picked up and she will travel calmly in a carrier with no fuss. She is well behaved and clean. So, what do you get when you are this fabulous AND a calico? A diva! Unfortunately, Rosy has some of that infamous calico temper. When you start to annoy her, she will swat or bite. On the plus side, nobody will dare break into your apartment, you can enlist her to offend annoying neighbors and unwanted dinner guests, and you will never become a crazy cat person because no other cat will survive Rosy. But seriously, Rosy needs an adopter who is experienced with cats, patient and tolerant, and who can learn her signals and respect them. Rosy is three years old. The bromance is real! Rupert and Jake were rescued separately, then met and fell madly in love at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe. Silly and shy Rupert was rescued alone as a tiny orphan from a recycling warehouse in Bushwick. He is shy with strangers and in new situations, but once he settles in (a couple of days), Rupert's warm and mushy personality comes out. He loves to flop on laps and next to napping kitties. He is an expert groomer of cats and people, and he speaks with a funny squeaky trill. He also knows how to open doors and possibly pick locks, so would be a great assistant to a magician or petty thief. Jake is a super easy going and affectionate guy (with a dapper mustache) who was thrown out of his previous home when they decided they didn't want to deal with him anymore. Jake loves everyone and everything...but nothing more than his BFF Rupert. These two boys are constantly together and balance each other out well -- Rupert brings the smarts and Jake brings the charm! show less

Silly Snacks is a five month old playful kitten looking for a home with some fun playmates! This petite brown tabby and white young lady was rescued as part of a Trap-Neuter-Return project (which is why she sports her dainty eartip), but we soon realized she preferred the indoor life. Although she is very shy with humans at first, it doesn't take her long to "lurk" nearby (seriously, she's always watching! As I type this, she's staring at me from a couple feet away) - especially when she's hungry! Snacks does mostly avoid human contact, but as soon as she's caught in a cuddle, she immediately melts. Snacks is a very playful young kitten and enjoys leaping and wrestling with her foster kitten buddies. She's also a big fan of the older cats she lives with and cuddles up with them as much as they would tolerate - and she doesn't mind her foster dog! Snacks would do best in a home with patient people and another playful kitten or young adult who is a litter braver than she is around humans to help her continue to practice trusting. Sunny is missing the ends of her back legs so doesn't have fully mobility, but she's able to move around and snuggle just fine. Sweet and gentle Goose is such a special guy. He was rescued initially as part of a large TNR project on the edge of Bedstuy, but due to severe injuries, he wasn't able to be released immediately after his neuter. This proved to be lucky for all of us as we learned that this shy and scared orange cat was not feral. It was a tough initial recovery for Goose -- he had to wear a giant cone and had to be cleaned and medicated daily. At first, Goose was so scared of us, but over time and with a lot of patience, Goose began to relax and realize how much he enjoyed our attention. Once he was healed, we wanted to find a friend for this shy buddy, but he was always intimidated by potential adult cat friends...so we gave him some tiny kittens! Yep, our Goose became a proud papa of three young kittens who immediately started nursing on him (seriously) and cuddling with their new uncle. Since then, Uncle Goose has raised many young kittens while he's continued to practice his social skills. He is much braver with humans now, but needs a quiet home with at least one other friendly and cuddly cat who will give Goose the love and snuggles that he so clearly enjoys. Wendy is a young lady (between 1-2 years old) with a long story. When her original "owner" moved out of her apartment, she left Wendy with her building's super who put Wendy in a small crate (too small even for a litterbox) in a basement for several weeks! Luckily, a neighbor reached out and Wendy was spayed and moved to more appropriate accommodations...the Cat Cafe! Due to her past, Wendy can occasionally be a bit "catty" and slow to trust, but she is quickly learning that we are all very nice and just want her to be happy! Wendy would do best in a home without other cats or young children. Wendy would be a great roommate for a quiet home looking for a new friend. show less

Wesley Wilmot is such a lovable guy. This roughly three year old cuddlebug was found eating garbage in Far Rockaway and was quickly rescued with the sound of a can of food opening. He loves to eat, but is motivated more by affection than food. Although he can be a bit shy at first, he adores sitting on laps and spends as much time curled up on his favorite people as possible. He follows his humans around, sleeps on their bed (and doesn’t cause any ruckus at night) and loves every pet. He’s also a little bit ridiculous — he rolls on his back and sticks all his legs out and paddles them in the air. Winston Churchill can be a bit of a crybaby. Don't get us wrong, he can also be calm and collected, but did you know that Mr. Churchill hates to be in a carrier? He would much prefer to be cuddled, admired or played with. Winston was found outside a Fort Greene Housing Project, wandering aimlessly and looking for love. We think he is between 1-2 years old. He is quick to make friends with new people and is looking for accommodations with either a great deal of human attention (i.e. lots of playing) or with a friendly young cat friend. Although initially named after the dignified leader, his foster preferred to compare him to Winston from The New Girl -- well intentioned, but sometimes misfires. show less

Wobbly is a quirky, super playful young guy who is a real charmer. He walks with a bit of tilt as a result of some head trauma, but it doesn't slow him down at all. He can play pretty rough (and appears not to be aware when he's biting too hard) so would be best in a home with another playful cat who can help him practice good kitty manners. Wobbly is a total love, but due to being a bit unpredictable with his affection, he would do better in a home without kids. He also seems to have occasional urges to run out the door so would need proper safety precautions. That said, this guy is a real gem and is a fan favorite at the cafe and would be a lovely cat to keep you entertained. show less

Zachary is an affection and determined handsome black cat. He was born into a large feral cat colony, but decided at an early age that he was meant to live indoors. The self-appointed mayor of his block, he would greet all human visitors with a head butt. On several occasions Zachary attempted to move in with some of the locals who fed him but unfortunately, he was not welcome to stay permanently. Finally, some people doing TNR in the area saw Zachary's potential and brought him inside. Since then, Zachary has learned how to relax and how to play -- he has become an expert snuggler and figured out that good things come out of refrigerators. He’s also made it clear that he’s not a fan of other cats so is looking for a home that is his alone. Please save Zachary from a home with four annoying adult cats and way too many clueless foster kittens. show less
