About Harmonie

My name is Harmonie.  I'm a 5 year-old gray female mix that was abandoned by my owners.  Thankfully someone found me and contacted rescue.  I have been in my foster home with my older laid back 4-legged brother and we are becoming pals.  When I meet new dogs I also need careful introductions because some dogs I don't trust.  I am house-broken and use a doggy door.  I don't need a crate because I just hang out when you leave me.  I am a little nervous of new people and things so please be patient with me as I learn all the fun this world has to offer.  I pace a little bit when I'm nervous.  After I've had a chance to learn that you are one of the safe people in my life I will love on you and show you how excited I am to see you.  I still jump up a bit so smaller children might not be the best fit for me.  I am strong even though my legs are short, but I do know some commands and my foster mom says I'm a quick learner.  I like to fetch but I can't promise I'll bring it back to you cuz I like to hide my toys to make sure I have them for later.  I love car rides and going for walks but I could use some continued help with my leash manners.  I am being fostered in the DFW area and really looking forward to having my very own family soon. ##449093##

Hi there - my name is Gatsby and I am a beautiful 1 year-old girl that would love to find my forever family. Being a young girl, it is important that you know that I have that typical Weim energy. I love to run and play and and I am always on the go. Some basic obedience training may help as I really wasn't taught anything before coming into rescue. Right now I live with another female Weim, but it took me a little bit to come out of my shell and get know her.  We get along now so I just need a slow introduction to get adjusted to my new family. I would also be OK as an only dog though because I really do love all the attention and cuddles. As far as cats go I have met a few and really could care less about them so I would probably be ok. Like most young Weims I can still tend to get into some mischief (hehe), hey don't we all. It is best if when you are not home I am in my crate. I don't mind it, so that is a plus. Also I should be watched with small toys because sometimes I can get over excited and eat them, and we all know that really is not the best idea. As we are getting to know each other it may be best to crate me at night too. It's OK - I don't mind - it's really for your benefit because otherwise I will probably wake you up to let me out, and don't we all love that 2 am wake up call? In my crate though I can snooze all night and have never had any accidents. I am great with kids, did I mention that? I am fully vetted as well. Really I just want an active family that will help me be the best girl I can be and be patient as I acclimate to their lifestyle and learn to mind my manners. I am in the Corpus area and can't wait to meet you. Love,  Gatsby ##522648## show less

HI! My name is Lorenzo and I'm a 2 year-old gray boy and I am FINALLY available for adoption! My foster family has had me for about 2.5 months now and they say its time I share my “Lorenzo Love” with a forever family.  I came in off the streets of San Antonio having no idea how to be a dog. Bones, toys, dog food of any kind, home, love, beds, leashes, baths, and crates were all foreign to me. I was terrified and shut down when my foster mom met me and wouldn’t eat a thing for 5 days! Then my foster dad bought me Whataburger and well… the rest is history! Now I am on a regular diet of soaked dog food twice a day and the vet says I’m close to the perfect weight!  Im up to 71lbs now- YAY! I have so many wonderful qualities- like putting up with my 5 lb little fur sister- she’s annoying, but I love her. I will even share my food and bed with the little thing (she doesn't eat much). My foster family says I am “socially awkward” but getting better every day. I love to watch my foster siblings run, wrestle, play and even fetch balls…it looks like so much fun that I’ve even tried to join in a few times- man, that takes a lot of practice!  I'm a perfect gentleman during car rides, and if I’m allowed to sleep in your room, I will get up to check on you every few hours, just to be sure you are breathing.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE affection and having my back scratched, though I sometimes get too excited and forget my manners. Speaking of getting excited, I had what the vet called “happy tail” but recently I had that crazy thing amputated along with my dangly bits. So far, both surgical sites are healing nicely and the vet says they can remove my stitches in a few days!!  Doggy doors are my favorite! I can go outside anytime I like to get some fresh air and potty. I'm also great with kids of all ages (especially now that my happy tail is gone), but would probably do best in a home with older children. I don’t even mind having my tail bandaged, wearing an E-collar, or even a belly band if needed. However, like most of us rescue dogs, I do have one or two unfavorable habits. You see, living on the street, one tends to develop survival methods - especially at night in the dark. You should hear my growl! It is absolute perfection and I love to show it off every chance I get. I use my growl whenever I’m happy, worried, mad, playful, loving, or even wanting a belly rub. I am really trying to work on this and have gotten SO much better! My foster family even takes me on field trips to the feed and pet stores now! Im learning to be such a good boy. I am so happy and eternally grateful for WRT! Rescue life is the best! My only dislikes are things that remind me of the past such as crates/cages, forcefully pulling me out of cars, and scary shadows at night. Im currently in the DFW area and live with a Weim sister, a Mcnab brother and a 4 month old rat…err mini Dachshund. I also have recently started seeing a trainer to help me acclimate to my new life so I can be the best dog I can be for my new family. ##460863## show less

Hello Everyone - My name is Mystique, or Misty for short. I am a beautiful 7 year-old girl and I would really love to find my forever family. Are you not a super duper active, want-to-run everyday, need to be on-the-go type person then look no further, I just may be the girl for you. Literally everyone that has met me falls in love. I am one of the sweetest gals you will ever meet. I am a proper lady, I do not jump, I walk well on the leash and enjoy going for nice leisurely strolls or car rides. Everyone I meet I assume is my new best friend.  I will graciously accept attention from strangers without getting up in their face.  My foster mom took me to a senior residence community and she said I was so well-mannered and loved all the attention.  While we were in one resident's apartment I was allowed off-leash and I just  laid down on the floor quietly.  No one has to worry about me knocking anyone down, like some Weims can. My foster mom has also taken me to work with her to a noisy high-school gym and even there I just sat quietly. I always sit when asked and I even sit before meals and treats, when I take treats I am very gentle. I get along with other dogs, but I am torn on cats. My prey drive isn't high, but they are definitely interesting. I have gotten along with some and then others I think may be fun to chase in short spurts. I really am not one for a full out game of tag or fetch. So... I obviously love my people. I love them so much and sometimes I can be a bit anxious when they leave. My foster mom has been working with me on this. I have been following a plan to help with my separation anxiety.  Anyone that adopts me will need to continue this. If you are home a lot that is even better. As long as I have people I am happy.   I do love wearing my thunder shirt.  I can get a bit nervous on those stormy days. My foster mom says I have been fine being left in the house without being crated, because the crate freaks me out, but we are working on that too. I can't help it, I just can't wait for you to return. I am not a counter surfer.  Sweet, sweeter, sweetest.  I will make you a lovely companion and would do well with someone that wants a companion during the day. I am being fostered in the Austin area. So ask about me today! Love, Misty ##486362## show less

Hello my name is Rowdy. I am about 9-years-old and am hoping my forever family is out there. Almost 2 yrs ago I was living on the streets when all of a sudden someone picked me up to take me to the doctor. I looked pretty bad when I first came to rescue. Turns out I have a brown and black brendle coat. I also have these big, beautiful, brown soulful eyes. So I may not be all weimie but I am all cuteness.I was HW+ but have gone through treatment for those pesky worms. I also have what my doctor says is advanced hip dysplasia. However it doesn't keep me from cruising around the house. My foster mom gives me chewing supplements everyday. I feel great!I’m a very chill boy. I like to drag my blanket and pillow around with me. I even carry it outside. I used to live with two foster brothers, and it was fine. I do like my space though. I think I would be best with older more calm dogs that don't jump on me. I don’t need to go in a kennel when you leave the house. I just lay down and wait for you to come home. I don’t like to go upstairs though. I’m good with a few steps but not a second floor area, ya know bc of my hips. I have been in rescue for 565 days.....that’s a really long time. My foster mom is amazing but nothing beats having a family that is all yours. Please consider an older guy like me. I am being fostered in the DFW area. Love, Rowdy ##197448## show less

Hey Weim World – it’s me Spencer.  I told you I would be ready by Christmas.  I’m a 2-year-old, 60-pound gray Weim (you know that’s the perfect size for sitting on your lap right).  I am on the smaller side, but don’t let that fool you.  Foster mom has been teaching me 4 on the floor for several months and I am getting so much better, but I still jump up when I get excited and want to play with you.  I came into rescue a year ago and after my first trip to the vet they heard a weird murmur in my heart.  Lucky me, I got to go to a cardiologist to hear my weird heartbeat and it turns out I was born with a hole in my heart that never closed.  You would never have known though since I was a crazy pup.  I was able to go to Texas A&M for my open heart surgery due to some very generous donors, and there the vets closed my hole and I was running around with even more energy within a week of surgery.  I do have a nice faded scar on the side of my chest where they opened me up, but I’ve heard scars are cool.  I have no residual issues from my surgery and no symptoms or medications to worry about now although my cardiologist is recommending that I do not eat grain free food.  After my surgery I have been a little nervous around other dogs.  I bark and growl at them on walks so my foster mom is working with me to get me to a better place with them.  I wouldn’t be dog park material right now without more training.  We have had other fosters in my house and some I do well with and some I don’t do ok with so it might be best for me to be an only dog with the intention for someone to continue training with me so that I can be ok with all dogs.  I also continue to work with my foster family on leash manners.  I have a lot of awesome qualities though so don’t let that scare you.  I am the best dog when left alone.  I don’t need to be crated.  I have a dog-door now and if it’s nice out I will lay out on the patio furniture and sun myself while my family is away.  I don’t tear things up or go to the bathroom in the house.  I have been known to dumpster dive in bathroom garbage so you might want to keep that door closed or there might be a tissue trail when you get home.  I am the best cuddle boy.  If you will let me sleep with you at night, I don’t take up much room and I love to sit on your lap and be close too.  I do well with all people and kids.  Since I still jump up a little and like to chase things that run away from me, small children might not be best for me or cats as I protect my current backyard from any weird 4-legged intruders.  I am being fostered in the Dallas area if you’d like to meet me. ##353030## show less

Hello Weim world, look no further because here I am. My name is Terra and I'm an 8 month-old Weim mix. I am a pretty and happy-go-lucky gal in search of my forever home.  Alert alert, I am a puppy so yes, I do want to chew on everything you set down within my reach, but know that I will grow out of this. I am not super barky, but if someone is outside I will alert you. So one of the big questions is always, do they get along with cats?  Well let me just tell you that though I will chase the cat, I really don't want to kill it, just play with her. I do love the dog park and playing with other dogs. So no issues with me and any dogs I have met so far. To be honest, it probably would be best if I had a doggie friend to help keep me busy. Like all Weims, I am extremely food motivated. I'm also super smart. I know "sit" and "off" and I'm still learning "shake."  I am very eager to learn more manners and will be easy to teach. My foster mom says I am fairly good on the lead. She's been teaching her "touch" which is basically a check in where I touch my nose to her hand while on the leash. It's fun! Once I get tired, watch out though, because snuggling is on like Donkey Kong and I am a pro, so expect to cuddle. I am almost completely housebroken, but if left alone for long periods of time I will sometimes have an accident. So please be patient with me. So just to reiterate: Likes: Food! Bones Sleeping all night Dog park (particularly with other playful dogs...I would do good in a household with a younger, energetic dog) Walks/runs I am unsure of why the cat won't play with me, quite confusing and rude if you ask me Dislikes: Having to wait to be fed last! Being told to get off the counter! I am fully vetted and just looking for my forever cuddly buddy. I am being fostered in Austin and would love to meet you. Love. Terra ##497830## show less
