Arthur is a 2 1/2 year old male that was an owner surrender to the rescue in January 2019. He came to us because his owners were having challenges teaching him appropriate behavior and showing him good leadership. This resulted in him having some defensive behaviors that were too much for them to handle. We brought him into the rescue and he has spent time with a trainer working on learning how to properly communicate with people. Arthur continues to do well with his training, he is just a really nice boy and has come a long way since being at the training facility! He continues to require reassurance from his handler in new situations. He is doing well with his off-leash handling but still has some jumping issues, which we continue progressing with. He takes an extended amount of time to feel comfortable with strangers and children, but with gradual introduction and consistency, he warms up nicely. He does well as long as his handler is near and provides reassurance of his new friends. We recommend that Arthur be placed in a home with an experienced handler without other dogs or children due to the fact that Arthur needs a very stable environment with a handler that has an adequate amount of time to devote to Arthur to help build the bond and trusting relationship that this sweet boy requires and truly deserves to be an all around awesome companion for the right owner. ##372838## show less

My name is Duke.  I am 7 years old and I would love to make your family complete. I'm a big boy, but don't let my size intimidate you - I am really just a big sweetie. Want to hear something crazy? I’ve been in my foster home for a couple of weeks now and I have never been on the furniture or bed! Ha - how's that for manners? I love a good head rub and I know how to sit and shake. When the humans give me treats I have a fairly gentle mouth, but hey I am a Weim. Also with me there will be minimal counter surfing. My foster mom says I have a strong prey drive - I kind of want to eat birds, squirrels, and sometimes bugs, I don't know why, protein I guess. There is a chance though that with some patience I could coexist with a cat. I have two canine foster siblings now and I really like them. I have also been around my foster parents grandkids and have had no issues. My most favorite thing in the world is to be around people. For some crazy reason, even I can't explain it, cars freak me out and I can be a bit uneasy when riding in one . My foster family is also working on my pulling on leash while walking. I am very strong but also very sweet. When I came into rescue I had some lumps that WRT was concerned about so they had them removed. My new family will just have to watch my body for any new lumps that pop up. So that's all about me and I would really love to meet you. I am being fostered in the Houston area. ##380312## show less

Myname is Hudson and I am a 4.5 year old grey male that can't wait to meet you. I am at a great weight right now at about 70 pounds. I am house broken so don't worry about me having accidents.  I will be sure to chew up something if left out while you are away - hey I am just a curious Weimie boy it might taste good! I have been working on crate training, and I think I am almost there. I get along great with my foster fur sibling and I think I would prefer to have a fur brother or sister. Those furry felines though, I am just not sure about. Kid wise, well I have only been around a couple and did fine, so I think as long as any potential kids know a dog sometimes need their space it would be ok. I love to go on walks, I get very excited so this would be something I would like to do daily if possible. Like all weims I do love food so make sure to keep counters clear and any open food up high, but I won't mind if you forget - sometimes.  Another item on my love list is snuggling up with you on the couch and in bed. I just want to love you. Since I was found as a stray sometimes new people can scare me and I am typically shy around them. Patience will be very important, I promise I will come around. Oh I also had this really neat guy called a trainer come and work with me and teach me all kinds of new things, I can't wait to show them to you. Really I am a sweet guy who will love to give you some kisses. I will need help so I can continue to break out of my shell when meeting new people. I have received some training classes making me even more perfect. I am in the Houston area. ##348796## show less

My name is May and I am a 7 month, 35 lb weim/blue lacey mix. I just got finished getting my vaccines and spayed and I am right back to being a crazy puppy which means I’m ready to go! I really love to play, especially in the water. I jump, play ball, run in circles forever in the park, you name it, I love it. Oh and I also can’t get enough  of my toys!! Boy oh boy are those things fun. My foster mom is still potty training me but I and so smart and she says I am getting there. Everyone that meets me says I have a great coat and nails, and of course they love my natural tail. I am living with multiple animals now and think I would do best with bigger dogs because I am so playful. Want to know a secret? I am ok with the cats too! Well not great, but ok, I am coexisting with them right now. My foster mom is impressed bc I listen really well. I  even come when she calls my name. I am good on and off off leash, once I know that you are my people. When we go to the park, I am allowed to run and like a good girl I come back when I’m told to. I haven’t met a person, or a dog for that matter, that I didn’t like. I am good with everyone, big, small, young, old and everything in between. Sometimes my foster dad makes me a bit nervous bc he’s such a big guy, but he’s trying really hard to win me over. Oh I am also not food aggressive at all and I was super easy to crate train. Really I am just sweet, loving, cuddly and of course an attention hog! I’ve come along way from sitting in a sad, depressing shelters and I would love to be your new best friend. Think of all the adventures and mischief we can get into! I am being fostered in the Victoria area. ##429122## show less

My name is Quest! I am a 3 years old and an approximately 50 pounds boy that has one goal; I am looking for my forever family and was told this is the place to be. To start off let me tell you that I am totally house-trained. I never have had an accident and I don't get up early to go out, my foster family appreciates that. I am also crate-trained; now I have been left alone outside crate for short times with no problems at all so it would totally be up to you. Do you sometimes get nervous when your home alone? Well no worries because I have a loud bark that would be great to scare off any would-be intruders, so you can always feel safe with me around. In regards to other dogs....well I do get along with most other dogs but if my potential new home had other dogs we would definitely have to meet first and be closely-monitored during our initial time together. I will admit there are a few times I haven't been too happy with certain dogs. I have no idea how I would do with cats because I haven't met any of those frisky felines yet. I do get along great with people; you may get greeted with a bark or two but I have done great with all the people I have met. I don't mean to brag....ok yes I do... but I would be an excellent running buddy - I have done up to three miles and I run along with my foster dad and only very rarely do I stray to chase a squirrel, pretty impressive right? I am a young boy so I will need training on how not to jump on furniture or new people. I am learning though! My foster dad will turn away when coming home and I now won't jump on his back. I love, love, love me some peanut butter inside a chew toy that I can take time to lick out. Yummy!! I love to play and I love attention. I will roll over once I am comfortable with you so you can rub my belly. I love long walks - and I never get tired unless it involves a lot of stairs, and I enjoy car rides. I am healthy and happy and just waiting to find that special person or family to call my own. I am being fostered in the DFW area. Hope to meet you soon. ##434829## show less
