With five broken legs between them, Gabe and Banjo already have a lot in common. They're both still puppies, they're both incredibly smart and playful, and they both came to the San Antonio Humane Society with multiple fractures (likely the result of being hit by cars). Although they did not come in together, it didn't take long for them to become fast friends, and it is our sincere hope that the perfect family takes them home together. It's not hard to see how well they bond. They give each other the confidence to continue growing and improving.Gabe is a very smart and well-mannered Shepherd mix who walks well on a leash and is very treat motivated. Banjo is a smart, but not as well-mannered, Shepherd mix who will look to you to help him be a grown up pup! Banjo is the bigger cuddle bug of the two and will not hesitate to give you lots of kisses. Gabe is the perfect role model for Banjo and Banjo definitely helps Gabe overcome his insecurities. (For example, Gabe can sometimes be afraid of cars, but Banjo shows him they're no big deal!) Gabe and Banjo have a Guardian Angel! This means their adoption fees have been sponsored to help ensure they go home together. Visit these sweet pups today. You will not regret it!Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations, microchip, de-wormer, flea and heartworm prevention, complimentary wellness exam (within 5 days of adoption) and follow-up care (within 14 days of adoption) at any VCA Animal Hospital, and 30 days of 24PetWatch Pet Insurance. show less

As sweet and wholesome as her name implies, Cookie is ready to be paired with a companion just as delightful as her. She's eager to get out the door and explore. Don't be surprised by her strength! Although she may pull a little here to there, we believe she would do well with a harness and a caregiver who is able to positively correct her leash manners. She's a smart gal, and we think a dedicated adopter will have her learning in no time. Cookie came to the San Antonio Humane Society as a transfer from Animal Care Services. We are happy to regularly partner with ACS to transfer homeless dogs into our shelter on a weekly basis. Our partnerships also include dozens of other shelters and rescue groups in our area. Transferring pets between shelters opens up space for more pets to be received and also helps hard-to-adopt pets find a new family in another community. The joint efforts of these collaborations and partnerships not only makes our community a more humane environment, but also saves hundreds of pets who might otherwise face euthanasia due to overcrowding. If you are interested in meeting Cookie, please speak with kennel staff.Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations, microchip, de-wormer, flea and heartworm prevention, complimentary wellness exam (within 5 days of adoption) and complimentary follow-up care (within 14 days of adoption) at any VCA animal hospital , and 30 days 24PetWatch Pet Insurance. show less

Flora can be shy at first, but time and patience is the key! She eats up all the attention she can get. Flora was transferred to the San Antonio Humane Society with 22 other dogs from the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services. They were a part of an emergency seizure from a home on the City's East Side where over 50 dogs and puppies were being kept in unlivable conditions. Although they are friendly, they are currently in need of socialization and lots of TLC. We believe they will do well in a loving and understanding home with lots of patience and friendly faces. We hope that you'll understand Flora may need some time to feel comfortable here and with any new visitors, but once she warms up to you, she really loves affection. Flora has completed her heartworm treatment! Does this mean she's heartworm free? Due to their lifecycle, heartworm testing must be performed at a later date. Ask staff for details. Please give Flora a chance to prove that she's worth your time and love!Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations, microchip, de-wormer, flea and heartworm prevention, complimentary wellness exam (within 5 days of adoption) and complimentary follow up care (within 14 days of adoption) at any VCA animal hospital , and 30 days 24PetWatch Pet Insurance. show less

Frankie is a fan of leading the way. In fact, if you find this 1-year-and-3-month-old Pit Bull Terrier Mix tugging a little on his leash, it's because he doesn't mind showing you around to another new and exciting locale. He's a jokester and he enjoys jumping from toy to toy. He'll even occasionally forget he's already carrying one in his mouth! Frankie will definitely grow to love his playtime even more once he finds a regular playmate. He also has a Guardian Angel, which means a portion of his adoption fee has already been paid. Please ask a staff member for details. Don't get this pup's hopes up! Come down to the San Antonio Humane Society and get to know him a little more. Please remember to spay/neuter your pets to help ensure every dog and cat born has a home waiting for them.
