About Snooze

Looking for a snoozing buddy to get through this quarantine with? Check out Snooze! Snooze came to us in November 2018 from Thailand with the help of our rescue partner Soi Dog Foundation. She caught the attention and affection of TBL volunteers with her sweet and unassuming personality. Due to her shyness, we thought a stint in foster might help her blossom, and it proved to be a great plan! Here is an update from her foster mom: ''Snoozie-q has really warmed up to us quite a bit. At first she wouldn’t approach us, but now she is always coming up for treats and attention. She loves gentle scritches and snuggling in her bed, which we have right in the middle of the living area so she’s always near the action. We have a pretty busy house with 3 teenagers and family in town visiting this week and she’s done really well adjusting to all of the action. Snooze does not like to be alone and will cry if her foster brother isn’t near by, though she doesn’t like him too close! When she first arrived, she wouldn’t really let him anywhere near her, now their beds are side by side and she lets him in her personal bubble. She should have fur- and people-siblings that can respect her boundaries and help her feel safe and secure. She loves treats and we’ve been able to teach her how to sit on command. She works really well for cheese or kibble! :) She’s letting us in a little more every day and I'm sure it's just around the corner! She’s an outside girl and is happiest when she’s out on her walkies or roaming the yard, nomming on grass. She does still monitor the doors and doesn’t yet come when called, so she’s still largely on-leash indoors. She picked up her table manners really easily and will sit and wait to be called to eat. She’s completely housebroken and can be left for a whole work day with no accidents.'' Snooze is a nice compact size of about 25 pounds, and she is about 3 and a half years old. If Snooze sounds like she could be a great fit for your family, please let us know by submitting an adoption application on our website ASAP!If you'd like to meet this pup, please visit www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptTo initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below. It’s easy to love young dogs, but senior dogs need homes too! Older dogs like Captain Crunch here have the toughest time of all in the shelter system because he is constantly being overlooked by potential families. He may be slow and scarred, but he is still sweet as can be and more than capable of being a loving companion. Captain Crunch enjoys going on walks, exploring sights and sounds, chewing on a few blades of grass, and getting some chin scratches in between. While Captain Crunch is a favorite among our volunteer walkers, it’s not the same as being able to sleep on a dog bed inside a warm home to call his own. He is 11 years young (estimated DOB January 2009), and he has been at The Barking Lot for over a year now. Crunchy, as he is affectionately dubbed, is also great with other dogs. He currently plays in a group with all ''littles'', and it's the cutest thing. Many of his little buddies are puppies and they help keep him young. Crunchy has bad arthritis and he is on a special diet. Do you have room in your home and heart for Captain Crunch? If so, please submit an application on our website today - he is waiting for you!If you’d like to meet this pup, please visit www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptTo initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below. Dally is a shy Tiger Jindo mix with a sad beginning. He was found on the streets of Apple Valley with his mom, dad Darry, and 3 siblings, including Ponyboy and Sodapop. They were all wary of humans and appeared to have limited familiarity with them. The family was taken in to the local shelter, and the mom and smallest sibling were adopted quickly. The other 4 made it to TBL where they received socialization while waiting their forever homes. Dally was the shyest of the bunch, slowest to trust, and also the most unique looking. He has a handsome caramel swirl coat and beautiful, soulful green-brown eyes. Dally will need a patient and loving family to help him warm up to the world and come out of his fear-hardened shell. He will be worth the time and effort though, as he is quite the obedient, loving, and sweet and easygoing pup with his foster mom of 6+ years. Dally would do best in a home with another dog to show him the ropes and prove to him that his humans can be trusted. Dally is a great medium size of about 30 pounds, and he is about 7 and a half years old as of spring 2020. We would love to see this Classic Barker go to a well-deserved forever home! Looking for a silly, outgoing, spunky and fun-loving Bassett Hound and Boston Terrier mix to brighten your days? Then Heron may just be your guy! Heron originally came to us from a shelter in San Bernardino County, and he quickly made fast friends with everyone both two and four legged. His favorite pastimes at TBL include roaming the play yard with his buddies, playing fetch, going on weekend hikes with volunteers, and just being a ham for attention. You only need to meet him to know that this playful dude has a happy-go-lucky outlook on life and nothing will bring him down. Given his energy and tenacity, he would do best with an experienced owner that can keep him grounded and help set boundaries. Heron loves to give you kisses – whether your hands, arms, or face, he is not picky! He comes equipped with adorably squat legs, classic black and white coloring, constantly wagging tail, big inquisitive brown eyes, and happy smiling face. To those who know him well, and those he has established trust with, he is a very sweet, jolly, and obedient boy. Heron weighs around 30 pounds, a great size for most types of living situations. He is about 8 and a half years young (estimated DOB December 2011) but can still keep up with the best of them on long hikes and outdoor adventures. If Heron sounds like the perfect pup you have been looking for, come see if he is a match for you!If you'd like to meet Heron, please visit www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptTo initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below.
