Bunnie is a playful lady who enjoys going on walks and being outdoors. She enjoys attention, so give her plenty! She is treat motivated and will sit for one (or two)-she's just that smart of a girl. Bunnie is heartworm positive, but adopters are able to take advantage of FREE heartworm treatment thanks to VCA Animal Hospitals. Heartworms are not contagious between dogs: heartworm disease is transmitted by infected mosquito bites. While Bunnie undergoes heartworm treatment, it's important to minimize her physical activity and restrict her exercise. However, she will still need safe physical and mental stimulation, including lots of pets and encouraging words. Ask staff for more details! Give this girl a chance to show you what she's worth. In a word: lots. Bunnie has a Guardian Angel: that means a generous donor has sponsored her adoption fee!Staff and Volunteers: If you would like to add something to Bunnie's Bio, please contact our PR team by emailing communication@sahumane.org. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations, microchip, de-wormer, flea and heartworm prevention, complimentary wellness exam (within 5 days of adoption) and complimentary follow up care (within 14 days of adoption) at any VCA animal hospital , and 30 days 24PetWatch Pet Insurance. show less

Flora was transferred to the San Antonio Humane Society with 22 other dogs from the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services. They were a part of an emergency seizure from a home on the City's East Side where over 50 dogs and puppies were being kept in unlivable conditions. Although they are friendly, they are currently in need of socialization and lots of TLC. We believe they will do well in a loving and understanding home with lots of patience and friendly faces. We hope that you'll understand Flora may need some time to feel comfortable here and with any new visitors. Flora's heartworms are currently being treated here at the SAHS and after adoption, Flora's adopters can take advantage of free heartworm treatment at VCA Animal Hospitals. Heartworms are not contagious between dogs-in fact, transmission of heartworms requires a bite from an infected mosquito.Due to the stress of their ordeal and the state of their previous living conditions, a handful of the dogs seized may be experiencing hair loss around their eyes and on their back. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations, microchip, de-wormer, flea and heartworm prevention, collar, tag, complimentary wellness exam within the first 5 days of adoption, 14-day complimentary follow-up care at any VCA Animal Hospital, and 30 days 24PetWatch Pet Insurance.Attention Staff and Volunteers: This bio is seriously lacking! There's a lot we know about Mudslide, but there's also a lot we're still waiting to learn. A 5-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei mix, he came to the San Antonio Humane Society as a stray picked up by Animal Care Services, and we knew right away that he would need more than shelter and food. He suffered from severe medical conditions, likely since birth, in both of his eyes that caused extreme scarring and left him with little to no vision and in constant pain. Additionally, due to his short snout, his nostrils were so narrow that he had difficulty breathing. It was a no-brainer--it's what we do--Mudslide underwent surgery to improve his quality of life and hopefully his outlook on life too. You see, due to these medical conditions, he can be skittish, standoff-ish, and a little aloof. But with his nostrils more open, now he can breathe. And with his eyes (and pain) removed, now he can focus on just being a dog, albeit with a few special needs. Currently, he's adjusting to life without vision in his halo harness. Mudslide will do well in a home that will give him time, patience, and encouragement. We're eager to learn who he'll meet and what he'll do with this new lease on life. Mudslide has a Guardian Angel, which means a donor has generously sponsored his adoption fee!Adopters, please be aware: due to their short noses, Shar-Peis are prone to overheating. Mudslide would do well indoors with fans or air conditioning during hot days. Like with any dog, we ask adopters to do their research when adopting dogs of a specific breed or size. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations, microchip, de-wormer, flea and heartworm prevention, collar, tag, complimentary wellness exam within the first 5 days of adoption, 14-day complimentary follow-up care at any VCA Animal Hospital, and 30 days 24PetWatch Pet Insurance. show less
