About Brando

Brando was found living in the streets for a while, fending for himself, starved at only 28 lbs with an open wound on his hip. He has since been rescued, rehabilitated, wound healed, and is now a wonder at 60 lbs and 3 years, and enjoying his foster home. Brando is a loving dog, eager to learn and please. He has acclimated excellently to the new world he did not know before - enjoys children, is gentle/docile with low/medium energy - quite mellow. He continues to work on his new doggie social skills, is a quiet guy at home, rarely barks, never begs for or steals food!!! He is crate trained, a quick learner and great walker on leash. He prefers to hang with his people and be with them most of the time, learning to enjoy his alone time abit better. A great walker, hiker, cuddler, buddy!!! If you feel your home and heart is the right fit for this wonderful boy, please email us at therealbark@gmail.com.

Captain Bingley aka Bing is a very sweet and special boy of about one year. As a little puppy he had a rough start to life…found on the street by a passing jogger as he was being attacked by coyotes!!! FORTUNATELY, he was rescued from the coyote pack and taken to the shelter where he had to be placed in isolation for 6 months as a rabies precaution – so a big part of his puppyhood was spent ALL ALONE!!! Following that trauma and months of being in solitary, he is now in a foster home discovering the big world for the first time. EVERYTHING is NEW and sometimes a bit SCARY!!! Luckily …he loves his big pittie foster brother and sister - Hudson and Char Char - who are giving him much loving comfort and are helping him show the way of the world. He has come FAR in the past few months, braver and braver every day! He would do very well in a home with an adult dog (or dogs) who can continue to provide him not only safety but additional guidance as he continues to learn about the world around him. Bingley LOVES to run and play, is housetrained, has lovely food manners AND he walks on leash SO NICELY. Bingley is a bit shy still with people but is making progress daily!!! He is a small boy - a pocket pittie mix of about 40 lbs, so does not take much room. Do you have room in your heart and home for lovely little Bingley???. show less

THIS IS A GUEST POST: Please contact staciwitt@sbcglobal.net directly if interested in meeting this adoptable pup. Magic is a super sweet boy who is super friendly with people, and is very gentle with all humans. He would be great with older children 13+. If he were in a room with 15 people, he would be the life of the party, showering everyone with his smile, affection and kisses!!! He loves nothing more than to be next to his favorite humans' side and also understands when to give them space. Some of his favorite things to pass the time include eating, getting pets and massages, sunbathing, and grooving to reggae music. He's a quiet soul, rarely barks and does not have any destructive tendencies. He has medium to low energy with a very chill personality, so wouldn't mind a couch potato friend, but also can enjoy his regular walks. His past spinal injury has not kept him from any activity, but because he is a mellow fellow, couching the potato is not a bad pasttime for him. Magic would do very well in either a home with a yard or a condo or an apartment, and someone who can keep him on a regular feeding and walking schedule. He also would be best as the only dog in the home - no cats. Routine activity is beneficial to keeping him on a regular regimen post-spinal injury. And minimal activity is fine for this big boy. He would be a fantastic loving constant companion for anyone!!! If interested in learning more or meeting this fine boy, please contact: staciwitt@sbcglobal.net. show less

THIS IS A GUEST POST - for more information please write juliefeiner@yahoo.com. Penny is a gorgeous, copper-colored Chihuahua who’s beloved owner just passed away. She is 12 years old, loving and loyal - would not leave her owner’s bedside during her long illness. Penny is house-trained to use a doggie-door and is fine with cats and other non-aggressive dogs, but mainly co-exists - she especially wants to bond with her owner/s, so would be a fantastic constant companion for her best 2-legged buddy. She may be abit shy at first and could be startled with quick movement so a quiet calm home without small children would be a great fit. Penny enjoys daily walks and cuddling and will make contented purring noises and give kisses when she’s happy. When excited she’ll spin and jump up with joy! She weighs just under 10 pounds, is spayed, and current with all her vaccines. She just had a full check-up and all necessary dental work with a few teeth extracted so she is ready to go! Penny has been through alot and deserves a great quiet loving and safe home to spend the next chapter in her life, and will be the most loving companion anyone could imagine. The love you give her will boomerang back to you ten-fold! THIS IS A GUEST POST - for more information please write juliefeiner@yahoo.com. show less

Van Gogh is a proud, loyal, charming Survivor, and once he identified all of us at The REAL Bark as his temporary family - we earned a friend for life. He is a 5 year old BEAUTY - handsome as ever and is ready to show you what an incredible pup he will be in his new home. Sadly, Van came from an abusive home. A 'family ' had him for over five years and then dumped him in the shelter when they had to move. He is missing one ear - hence his name - and we do not know if it was cut off by them, or what preceeded his arrival to our rescue. Some dogs are non-discriminate in so far as running up to everyone, and jumping all over them. Because Van was not socialized, growing up, he watches to make certain folks are friendly, and then reveal himself, step by step. He does well with structure and good leadership. He is enthusiastically fond of many of his familiar handlers and friends. Van LOVES his walks and hikes. While he has dog friends that he has come to know through our rescue, we think it is best that he be in an only dog home with a stronger compassionate leader, as he does best when he loyally take on direction of his human friend. Van's ideal person//people are active, smart, and compassionate humans, that are less interested in a dog park dog, as they are a Companion for their walks, and treks. If you think you are the right fit for this wonderful boy, send us an email and we will set up the meeting pronto. show less
