Say hello to Avery, we believe she is a long hair Chihuahua with maybe some Papillon in the mix. Her foster tells us that she is very inquisitive and loves to explore. She is initially timid when she is in new situations but warms up very quickly. Avery has done great with the other dogs in the home and has also done pretty well with the cats after getting in some barking at them. She is about 3 years old and weighs around 7lbs. Another thing that Avery's foster has noted is that she loves to be with her people and would be a devoted little dog. If you would like to learn more about Avery or speak with her foster or an adoption coordinater please fill out an application at www.caretx.org/adopt. Meet Bodie this tiny Terrier blend is only about 2 years old. When we first saw him in the shelter he had his head down and looked terrified! As soon as we took him away and got him settled in a foster home all of that changed. His foster mom tells us that Bodie has a 50lb personality in his 7lb body. He is showing us his sassy confident personality! He has done well with the other dogs in the home. His foster mom thinks he would do great in a home with an active family that takes him out for all of their activities. He is not afraid of anything and would love to have another playmate in the home about his same size. Meet Colbie! This 5 month old pup found herself dumped at the city shelter by her family because they felt she had too much energy. Crazy right?! Puppy energy is totally normal! Sadly, for Colbie her first family adopted her without thinking of her needs and then left her behind when she became an inconvenience to them. We promised this sweet girl that will never happen again to her. Colbie does love to run and play in the yard but when it is time to come in for belly rubs and scratches she is all about that. We are hoping to find her a family who understands puppy energy is part of owning a dog, a family who is going to provide her with the interaction and exercise she needs and also a family who understands that family means forever. Meet Farah, this sweetheart is a 6lb petite little lady! She is about 2 years old and is as dainty as they come. Farah comes from a shelter in Goliad TX where she was abandoned. She is a very sweet little girl but can be a bit shy at first, it is nothing a little TLC can't fix! She is quiet and calm and gets along well with other dogs and even the cats! Farah does well in her crate but we have a feeling she would be a great cuddle buddy if someone let her sleep in bed with them! She is very good about doing her business outdoors and is ready to show off all her manners in a forever home. She loves other dogs so much that we think it would be good for her to have a home with another dog or get adopted with a buddy! Meet Fuzz Aldrin, He just came to CARE from the city shelter. A CARE employee was down at the shelter one weekend and noticed this guy's sweet eyes. He was friendly around other dogs and came right up to the gate to say hello as we passed. One look in those eyes of his and we knew he would be leaving with us. Fuzz is quite the little lap dog. Meet Kenai, this little girl is from a litter of 9 puppies that came to CARE when they were 8 days old with their mom. Meet Penelope She is a 3 month old blend with the cutest short little legs! She will most likely be on the smaller side of Medium when she is full grown. Penelope came to CARE after being left at the city shelter by her family. She is a sweet young puppy who definitley didn't deserve that. Thankfully one of the CARE volunteers noticed her and those sweet eyes she has and knew they had to help! Penelope is now in a foster home and has been settling in very well. She gets along great with the other dogs in the house and is best friends with the child. Meet Redwood, this little girl is from a litter of 9 puppies that came to CARE when they were 8 days old with their mom. Her whole litter is named after national parks and with Redwood's beautiful color we knew that was the perfect name for her. She is now just over a month old and was able to be placed in a foster home where she is getting spoiled by the kids in the family. Her mom is a Dalmatian blend that looks like she may have some Lab in the mix but we are unsure of what breed the dad was. She needs a few more weeks at CARE before she can leave for a forever home but by the time she is old enough for that we are hoping to have her family all ready for her to come home. If you think you may be the perfect family for Redwood and you are interested in learning more and speaking with her adoption coordinater please fill out an application at www.caretx.org/adopt. Meet Roger, this guy caught our attention at the city shelter in San Antonio. Everytime we walked by his cage he stared at us with those piercing blue eyes pleading for help. We knew we couldn't leave him behind to face the uncertainty of the shelter so he came to CARE. Roger is very young at about a year old, he is full grown at 44lbs. He loves going on walks and the quickest way to his heart is scratches behind his ears! His foster mom tells us that he is a gentle guy that loves playing with other dogs and is apparently already house trained! He catches on to things quick although returning the tennis ball in a game of fetch is proving to be his challenge haha.
