Coffee is approximately an 8-year old, 14-pound male chihuahua/hound mix from Tijuana. He is settling in very nicely in a foster home and gets along well with his foster cat-sibling. This boy walks on 3 legs due to an old hip injury but is not in pain and it doesn't stop him from speeding around like the little bullet he is shaped like! Coffee is the sweetest little lovebug and wants to be everywhere his person is. He sticks to his foster mom like a magnet and even tries to burrow underneath her while sleeping! This gentle boy loves sitting by the window looking outside almost as much as he loves going for walks. He is great in the car and with other dogs as well. I am John F. Kennedy, but my friends call me Jack. I'm 9 pounds and 4 years old and deep-down a loving mush, but I come across as initially timid (except to the doormen who I am scouting for votes). I prefer to meet people on my own (comfortable) terms. My foster mom says I am happiest when she holds me and now that I trust her, I am more demanding of belly rubs. I'm not all looks though - my presidential qualities expand to intelligence - I know when 10-seconds are just about up on the microwave which means mealtime! My out-of-the-oval-office hobbies include cuddling on the couch and eating yummy treats. I am housetrained and good with dogs around my size and just like my namesake irresistible and people on the street stop to admire me. Check out my super-speedy tail wag! Neutered, heartworm negative, received DHLPPC, bordetella and rabies.  Please contact us DIRECTLY using the instructions below if you are interested in fostering or adopting one of our Waggytails! Joni is 10-year old, 10-pound female chihuahua looking for a new home. She is affectionate, loves to play and cuddle and nestle in your lap and under the covers. Joni is a smart girl - knows how to “sit” and “stay” for meals and treats, and knows “go to your bed” which she does while her humans eat, and she does not beg. Joni may have a lot of years, but she is healthy and youthful and fit, not overweight at all. She has a sweet tooth, so blueberries or the occasional little doggie dessert (eg: carob and yogurt) make her very happy - keep candy out of her reach, she can find it if left in her reach! Joni barks a little at strangers, but quickly settles and approaches them for sniffs, and if she is given a treat, she becomes their friend. Shy at first, but warms up with love and snacks! Joni is pee-pad trained but does enjoy walks to the park when weather is nice. She is initially submissive and a bit nervous around other dogs, but given time to bond and get acquainted, she should be fine with a fur-sibling. This is Lucky! Don’t let the 5-pound, 5-year old little boy fool you, as this chihuahua is full of spunk. His family in Texas surrendered him because their grandkids were allergic, but he is now in NYC looking for lots of love. Lucky is still getting used to the city sounds and smells, but he loves attention, snuggles, and being held. He bounces around, too excited to sit stil for photos and is such a cute little bug - but not much of a barker! Lucky is vaccinated, neutered, and appears housebroken. Mango is approximately 1-year 17-pound loving male miniature pinscher mix. This cute and feisty little guy arrived from Tijuana early April. His foster family says he loves to run around and play. Mango needs lots of exercise and walks (learning to walk on the leash) and live with an active family, but he is so sweet and affectionate. He seems to like other dogs and fine around children. A little bit of training from patient adopters will go a long way - he's a quick learner responding well to his name and not aggressive at all with food or toys. Mango is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. Pablo is a 3-year old, 25-pound hound mix. He is very sweet with people he knows and trusts, but needs time to warm up to new people. Who isn't initially weary of strangers anyway?! When he is home with his foster mom, his favorite place to be is in her lap. Pablo will let you know when he is ready to be pet and scratched by a visitor - he prefers to do it on his terms. He needs to live in a home where his people are around a lot because he loves his humans. If you are an experienced adopter or can spend time helping Pablo be confident with social skills, then he is perfect for you. This beautiful boy loves to play and is great with dogs especially outside or at other people's homes - a fur-sibling would be ideal for Pablo.  Pongo is a gorgeous and friendly Blue Heeler boy who came to NYC at the end of December from a Texas shelter where he'd been on the Euth list.   He's being fostered in Long Island and would   love to continue to live in a house with a yard.  He loves playing fetch, and when indoors he loves his kong.  He JUST turned 1 years old and is 46 pounds. He's all love but he's got some edges to smooth out with his manners and leash work,  so a little training will go a long way (he's still young- strong and has a lot of energy). But despite this he's worth every second you put into him beacuse he will be the best addition to your life. He's a lover. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him.  He should be ok with other dogs and kids, but not sure about cats. And definitely needs to live in the burbs.  Pongo is microchipped, neutered and up to date on shots.  He's got the short tail and wonderful soft classic Heeler fur and markings.  Please contact us DIRECTLY using the instructions below if you are interested in fostering or adopting one of our Waggytails! Roscoe is a 4 year old, 13lb chihuahua mix who has not had a fun time these past few years. Roscoe is a cute little guy who needs a very experienced adopter who will be able to help him overcome his past with lots of positive reinforcement and love!  He has a lot of anxietey -- and would be best suited in a home without children or high activity.  He's most at home when he can relax on the couch with his people, he loves to jump in your lap and hang out, if you're watching TV or doing work, or curling up beside you when its time for bed. When he's especially affectionate he likes to jump up on his hind legs to excitedly nuzzle. Jax definitely loves playing with his toys, the rope ones he can whip around, the squeaky ones he can chew, and most recently we've learned he loves chasing after tennis balls. He's also fond of puzzle games where he has to work for his treats.  Roscoe does indeed know some commands, sit and down, and he's almost there on place commands ("go to your room," for example, to go to his crate). It takes Roscoe time to bond with people, but if he thinks you are his person/people, he is very protective and happy to see you after spending time away.  Roscoe is up to date on shots, microchipped and neutered. Shakira is a 1-year 10-pound female chihuahua/dachshund mix that from Tijuana. She is super sweet and gets less timid each day - her foster family is helping her build her confidence with lots of positive reinforcement. Lily skips around very happily and a true lovebug once she gets over being initially shy. She loves to snuggle! Vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and housetrained. Zebedee is a 12 pound, approximately 1 year old, Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix arriving sometime in Feb from TX and needs foster. He's great with other dogs, but also likes some one on one time with his people. Zebedee has had no experience with cats so far. He is pretty sweet and would probably be good with kids, but don't know for sure. He uses a doggie door at his current foster home. Neutered, heartworm negative, received rabies, bordetella and DHLPPC vaccines.
