History: Rose was one of thousands of stray dogs in Tijuana. And, like many unwanted, homeless animals in this area, she was run over by a car. Her back was broken and she suffered a spinal injury. We didn't know if she would walk again, but I wanted to give her a chance. An orthopedic surgeon performed surgery and it was a success. As a street dog, she was also very sick and skinny, but that has been resolved with medication and time. She saw three vets - two in San Diego. She was monitored by a neurosurgeon for approximately two months. She has two series of rehabilitation therapy. She's now doing wonderfully.    She's extremely bright and a very good girl. She has never had an accident in her foster's house - which is weird because most dogs need to be house-trained.   Rose gets along with other animals and loves people. If you have any other dogs in your home, she should be fed apart from them until you know they all dogs react during feeding time.    She tends to jump on people, but an animal behaviorist is working on that minor issue. She loves her doggie bed, but will sometimes take the stuffing out. Again, not a big issue. We just replace it.     Anyway, here is a photos of her - one with her certificate of completion after she finished her rehab treatments. Among other photos is one when right after she was run over and one an X-ray of her back when it was broken. There are also two videos of her. One is of her at her very first rehab appointment. She didn't know what was going on, so was a bit trepidatious. The second one is after she had been to several sessions. She started looking forward to it her time there.   show less

This playful and friendly female pittie needs a home. She's loves humans, including children, and gets along very well with males. We are unsure about whether she gets along with other females. She has a moderate level of energy. She should be walked, but she would do just as well as a couch potato watching television with her humans.  History: Sammy was very emaciated and sick when she was rescued. Someone tied her skinny frame to a bucket and left her there. (Photos attached.) It is unknown how long she was there before she was saved. She had corneal edema in both eyes. They have been significantly reduced with medication; however, she managed to accidentally scratch her cornea in her left eye, which required another type of medication. Her prognosis of it completely healing is positive. She had ehrlichia, but that has been 100 percent resolved with medication.  Sammy is now healthy, fully vaccinated, and sterilized. She is now anxious for a forever home. She was house trained at her prior foster's home, but she is now with another foster and sleeps in a kennel at night. She plays with her buddies during the day. The adoption fee is only $1.00. Our application process and due diligence is rigorous. Potential adopters must agree to the stringent terms of our adoption application. The foregoing and the $1.00 adoption fee constitute the consideration of the party adopting the dog. In return, the adopting party will receive a wonderful and faithful dog Thank you for choosing rescue! show less

Timmy was a homeless dog in Mexicali, Mexico. He ran underneath a car while one of our rescue partners was picking up another dog. He was getting beaten up by other big dogs and was injured. We rescued him and he was fully vetted. He is goofy, very playful, extremely smart, strong and high-energy. He loves human attention. We don't know if he gets along with cats. He gets along well with females dogs. Male dogs tend to beat up on him (although that's not always the case). He's too friendly and loves attention. He has the tendency to grab at people's clothes when super excited and to get attention. His foster taught him not to grab at his clothes, but he will have to be trained by whomever adopts him not to grab clothes. He should be in an only-dog home and with an experienced and active person. Timmy is one of the two dogs featured in the video. Other videos available upon request. Timmy really needs a forever home where he will be loved and experience true "belonging." He is house trained, but all adopted dogs should be house trained in their new environment. Although there is an amount for the adoption fee, Crossing Guardians does not charge an adoption fee. However, our application process and due diligence are rigorous. Potential adopters must agree to the stringent terms of our adoption application. That constitutes the consideration of the adoption contact. Thank you for choosing rescue! show less
