Maverick is a daring hunter while playing with this cat wand toy. He loves chasing, jumping, and tackling the little fake birdie to the ground. Both at night and early in the morning he is always ready to pursue! The best part of the wand play time is when the little warrior knows he has defeated his enemy and goes belly up with feathers between his teeth. Calling Maverick the most attractive male cat San Jose has ever seen would be an understatement! This striking black cat is nothing but luck and charm. He walked in to his foster home and was instantly comfortable with his surroundings, ready to snuggle and play. He will make a wonderful cat for new or experienced cat owners, he is that perfect. Prior to adoption, all cats/kittens are spayed/neutered, tested for FIV/FELV, vaccinated, dewormed, deflead, and microchipped. This cat is at The Dancing Cat, our adult cat adoption lounge located at 702 E. Julian St in San Jose.  The Dancing Cat is open to the public from noon to 6pm Thursday and Friday, with no appointment needed to meet the cats during this time.  We are also open from noon to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday; appointments required if you want to visit on the weekends. Please contact us to schedule an appointment during the days we're not regularly open.  More information about this cat and all of our adoptable cats can be found at www.thedancingcat.org/cats.   show less

Mr Stumpy has been coming around for ear rubs and food for about two years.  His ear is tipped, but he acts as though he was a homed pet at some point. He has a very gentle soul with people - wants to snuggle & get loving. His caregiver has been able to pick him up. He’s more than happy to hop into a lap & become a marshmallow.  His survival instinct has made him a bit feisty towards other cats (which is why he stays outside, his caregiver has 4 other cats). This also makes him a good mouser - he has brought gifts   . Even with a recent ear abscess, never once did he try to bite or scratch despite having a painful condition. He’s on the mend after the vet cleaned him up.  He is extremely docile when scruffed - he’ll let his caregiver tend to his wound or carry him to another part of the yard very easily. He's called Stumpy because of his short tail. We have no idea if he was born that way, or if he had an accident. His build is solid and he has a healthy appetite. He looks quite a bit like a Manx. Everyone at the vet hospital commented on what a sweet and beautiful cat he is. This cat is being cared for by a concerned citizen who would like to find him a safe home. He deserves to be able to sleep on a warm bed and cuddle with his people at night.   Contact us for details and we'll put you in touch with his caregiver. show less

Meet the Two Musketeers, Richie and Jesse! These two are a pair of perfectly matched “brothers.” Both boys were found on the same street, just about a week apart. Richie was hanging out with an older group of community cats, while Jesse’s arrival was a bit more dramatic. One evening, as we were on our way to feed community cats, we were startled to hear him shouting out from under a car. He was tough to get, but it was worth it! Jesse is not shy about letting his needs be known. Whether he wants food, attention or some cuddle time, he calls out loud and clear. He loves to play with us, and he especially loves to play with Richie, his new brother. Richie’s personality is more subdued than that of his brother. Jesse is all about “Here I am! Let’s have some fun!”, while Richie says “I’m here too! I’ll play with my brother then I’ll stop by to say hello!.” Don’t get me wrong, Richie does love to play and cuddle, but he’s just a bit more laid back about it. Richie and Jesse are super sweet boys, full of spunk and curiosity. They are both quick to purr – just one touch gets their motors running! These boys belong together. They’ve formed a close bond with each other, and although they will be shy at first, they will form a super special bond with whomever is lucky enough to give them a loving, caring, forever home. These two kittens are in a private foster home and are not at The Dancing Cat. Please contact Sue at 408.504.4835 if you want to consider providing a forever home to these two fun kittens. show less
