Hi my names Aphrodite, named after a greek goddess. I`m a sweet older girl with the energy and love of a puppy. I do greet respectfully when you enter my kennel, although I tend to avoid leashing up. Not my style! I do pull on leash so I would recommend a front lead harness for me. I am independent so I will sniff around and get to know my environment, after that I will come and greet you! I am tolerant of all handling but I become slightly uncomfortable and will try to avoid. Now toys are awesome! I love to play with my handlers but because of how much older I am, my legs tend to get tired too quickly and I will have to lie down. Toys are awesome but I don`t really want to share them. I will run away as much as I can to avoid. So I would recommend a trade-out with a different toy that has the same value and interest! Same goes for rawhide. I don`t really want to share it so I would recommend a different one, but eventually I will get tired and give it up. I currently know sit and I take treats very respectfully! Now dogs. I met a dog here and at first I did not want to greet them! I had my gaurds up avoiding the other dog but once we got to know eachother, I got used to him! Overall I would recommend myself in a home that either has older children due to the fact that I am older so I don`t really want to play & maybe with a respectful dog or any only dog household. I hope to meet you soon!Staff: Social, low energetic dog. Tolerates all touch but becomes uncomfortable. Pulls on leash. Independent. Will keep to herself. Enjoys human play (play-bow & runs in circles around handler) but cannot play for long, becomes tired. Enjoys squeaky toys! Needs trade-out. Will avoid and run from handler. Needs trade-out for rawhide. Knows sit. Food motivated.D-D: At first dog was lunging towards dog while barking. After a few walk-by`s, dog calmed. They met with respectful sniffs and walked away. show less

Hi, my name is Cali. I use to live in a home with another dog but we didn`t get along so well. What`s mine is mine and if other dogs don`t understand that I will have to stand my ground. I enjoy being with the humans and us to be around young kids. Just remember, young kids are still learning how to interact with dogs so keep an eye out when they are around me, they can get annoying sometimes. I absolutely love toys! STAFF: Children 6 years old + would be best suited but can consider any age WITH approved interaction by staff. Children MUST always be supervised when around dog to ensure appropriate handling and to prevent bites from occurring. Social, happy dog that enjoys being around people. She lightly leaped up onto handler twice during assessment but the majority of the time all 4 paws remained on the ground. She played fetch with toys and never played tug or held on to the. She takes toys and treats gently and will `sit` on cue for a toy. She wagged her tail when pet while eating and stopped eating when hand was in bowl. DOG-DOG: Best as a single dog in home but can consider appropriate matches WITH approved interaction with staff. Prior history of an altercation in the former home with the resident dog. At our facility she met a mellow, slightly smaller male. Walked side by side and she leaped and crouched with excitement to greet; wide wagging tail, open mouth. They came close to make contact and male looked away and she continued to remain calm and social. They did not play but did not escalate into any concerning behaviors. Dog should not be left unsupervised with other dogs (especially smaller ones) due to prior history. Keep all resources (toys, treats) away when allowing dog to greet others. Allow time to adjust before socializing. Initially, assess compatibility on leash and NEVER off. DOG-CAT: NO, absolutely no! Walked through cattery hall way and when she seen cats she crouched and charged the glass; pawed, growled, lunged. show less

HI!! I`m glad you came in. I`m Crystal and I am full of energy! I hope you are ready to go on runs and play ball! Or maybe we can play with a squeaky toy together! I love body rubs, too! I don`t seem to have any training, but we can work on that together. I do try to guard my food, though. I will freeze over the bowl if you come near, but if you tell me `no` I back away. This will be an ongoing training. I met another dog and was so excited. We sniffed, I put my paw on his shoulders (apparently that is a no-no). He snapped at me to tell me no. I removed my paw, but I didn`t move away. I do prefer to be either playing or outside exploring. If there is nothing going on I will look for an exit and scratch the door. Are you ready for a running buddy?Staff: Social and tolerant of handling. Energetic. Plays with ball and interactively with squeaky toys. Gives nicely. Freeze over the bowl when handler moved in, continued to eat when nothing happend, freeze again when touched and again when hand came close to bowl. Handler said `no` and was able to remove bowl without incidence. Resource guarding education recommended. Some exit seeking, scratch door. Met male, pulled to meet. Sniffed then put paw on males shoulders. He growled and snapped a correction. She removed her paw, but did not move away from him. This may be antagonizing to others, recommend monitoring dog to dog interactions with multiple dogs closely before considering off-leash venues. NO CATS show less
