Evening all, my name is Duke. I’m approx 7 yrs old and I would love to make your family complete. I’m a big boy but don’t let my size intimidate you I am really just a big sweetie. Want to hear something crazy? I’ve been in my foster home for a couple of weeks now and I have never been on the furniture or bed! Ha, how’s that for manners? I love a good head rub and I know how to sit and shake. When the humans give me treats I have a fairly gentle mouth, but hey I am a Weim. Also with me there will be minimal counter surfing. My foster mom says I have a strong prey drive, I kind of want to eat birds, squirrels, and sometimes bugs, I don’t know why, protein I guess. There is a chance though that with some patience I could coexist with a cat. I have two canine foster siblings now and I really like them. I have also been around my foster parents grandkids and have had no issues. My most favorite thing in the world is to be around people. For some crazy reason, even I can’t explain it, cars freak me out and I can be a bit uneasy when riding in one . My foster family is also working on my pulling while walking. I am very strong but also very sweet. When I came into rescue I had some lumps that WRT was concerned about so they had them removed. My new family will just have to watch my bod for any new lumps that pop up. So that’s all about me and I would really love to meet you. I am being fostered in the Houston area.   Please ask about DUKE when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas. For donations, please make your check payable to Weimaraner Rescue of Texas, Inc. 4347 W. Hi there my name is Hudson and I am a 4.5 yr old grey male that can’t wait to meet you. I am at a great weight right now at about 70lbs. I am house broken so don’t worry about me having accidents but I will be sure to chew up something if left out while you are away, hey I am just a curious weimie boy it might taste good! My foster dad is working on crate training me, and I think I am almost there. I get along great with my foster fur sibling and I think I would prefer to have a fur brother or sister. Those furry felines though, I am just not sure about. Kid wise, well I have only been around a couple but did fine, so I think as long as any potential kids know a dog sometimes need their space it would be ok. I love to go on walks, I get very excited so this would be something I would like to do daily if possible. Like all weims I do love food so make sure to keep counters clear and any open food up high, but I won’t mind if you forget sometimes......Another item on my love list is snuggling up with you on the couch and in bed. I just want to love you. Since I was found as a stray sometimes new people can scare me and I am typically shy around them. Patience will be very important, I promise I will come around. Oh I also know how to use the dog door, and almost have sit learned. Really I am a sweet guy who will love to give you some kisses. I will need help so I can continue to break out of my shell when meeting new people. I am being fostered in the Houston area.     Please ask about HUDSON when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas. Hi! My name is Leon, I am a 2 ½ year old 72 pound male silver Weim with endless energy, and I love LOTS of attention. I have been in rescue with my foster home for about three months, and I can’t wait to find my forever home.   My first family loved me very much and I loved them, but a stranger shot me in my right front leg, and the vet said I might lose my leg! Well my family could not afford the medical bills, so they did the best thing they could for me and surrendered me to Rescue. The people from Rescue took me to the Vet who was nice to me, they set my leg, and put me with a foster home that has cared for me. I wasn’t happy at all to have to stay kenneled for the last 10 weeks while my leg healed, but the Vet said I couldn’t run or jump during recovery or my leg would not heal properly. Fortunately my foster family takes me for lots of walks on a leash and I love being outside with my foster’s two other Weims, I get along great with them. I have been told my recovery will be over soon and the vet will release me to be adopted (although I may have some light restrictions on running/jumping for a while). I am a very smart boy and have some training; I can be kenneled, I can Sit and Stay, but I need practice walking on a leash. I bark sometimes at strangers so introduce me slowly, but I am very gentle with people I know. I have high prey drive, so kitties and small animals are not recommended.  My first family had kids, I did fine with them. I am very well house trained, I whimper or bark in the crate when I need to go out, and I know how to use a dog door. I am very healthy, and I ride in the truck very well… I love to go for truck rides. I love to have my head and ears scratched and I love to cuddle. Since the Vet restricted me to full crate rest during recovery, I have been verrrrrrry bored, so I acted out a bit by chewing up my bedding, leashes, and toys, as well as occasionally gnawing on my foster siblings… the vet says once my leg is fully healed, I can be exercised properly to get rid of this excess energy. Everyone who meets me says I am very handsome and sweet, my tail never stops wagging, and the vet says I am in perfect health; all I need now is my perfect forever family to love. I am currently in NW Houston and can’t wait to meet you. Please ask about LEON when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas.   Hello my name is Rowdy. I was living on the streets when someone picked me up to take me to the doctor. I looked pretty bad when I first came to rescue. Turns out I have a brown and black brendle coat. I may not be all weimie but I am all cuteness.    I was HW+ but have gone through treatment for those. I also have what my doctor says is advanced hip dysplasia. However it doesn’t keep me from cruising around the house. My foster mom gives me chewing supplements everyday. I feel great.    I’m a very chill boy. I like to drag my blanket and pillow atriums with me. I even carry it outside. I live with two foster brothers. I do like my space though. Best with older more calm dogs that don’t jump on me.    I don’t need to go in a kennel when you leave the house. I just lay down and wait for you to come home. I don’t like to go upstairs though. I’m good with a few steps but not a second floor area     Please ask about ROWDY when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas. Looking for a very handsome, gray weim who is approximately 18 months old? Well here I am, my name is Stitch. I am a large and energetic dog weighing 85lbs. Currently I am being fostered in the Houston area (Cypress). A fun fact about me, I have graduated from obedience training and I know sit, down, stay, wait, place, off and heel. I do know the command "come" but sometimes I struggle with it due to distraction and my strong sense of smell. I am also house and crate trained.   Due to my size, energy and strength, my new family should not include really young children , but older teens would be ok. I do have a strong hunt instinct, so no cats or other small furry animals for me, but a dog companion in my new family to play with would be great. I am an active boy that requires daily high energy exercise, so I could be a jogging partner with a bit of training to do it; a walk around the block will not be enough exercise for me. Really I am just a very smart weim - curious and inquisitive about everything.   I have a big appetite, so the trash can and counter surfing are hard to resist. Sorry! I apologize but I am a weim ya know. Kong type chew toys and those I can't chew up and eat are most appropriate - no stuffed toys or rawhide ever. My new family must have a patient, obedience committed owner who is able to be the pack leader and who will provide consistent leadership and training.   I am a loving "lean on you" dog who will be a devoted companion for the right person or family.   Please ask about STITCH when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas. Hello Zane here! I am a male weim mix about 9 months old and weighing in at 30ish pounds. Though still a pup I am house and crate trained. I get along great with other dogs but I’m not too sure about cats. I also do great with the kids in my foster home who are 9 and 6. Like any adorable pup I have a lot of energy so I will need to be able to get that out of my system.   I do really well playing with my 4 yr old weim foster sibling. We love to run, he will take his ball and runs off so I can chase him. It’s so much fun!! I really love to be with my people and dog siblings. Sometimes I do get very nervous around new people. Don’t get me wrong, I am not aggressive at all, you just need to be patient with me as I get to know people.   My foster mom says I am just a wonderful sweet loving baby. I know how to sit but I’m still working on learning other commands as well. I am being fostered in the Houston area. Please ask about ZANE when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas.
