Meet EROS!

We saved sweet Eros on Valentine's Day, giving him his special name in honor of the God of Love. And boy, does he lives up to it! This guy just wants to love everyone he meets! Eros is a deafie, which means he hears with his heart and not his ears! He is 10 weeks old and looking for love. Currently located in Florida but willing to relocate for that special someone!

Eros will need someone not only with lots of love to give, but also deaf dog experience so he can continue learning his signs and deaf dog training!

Adalina is a wonderful dogo and beautiful girl.  She has had 2 types of cancer, both of which have been surgically removed.  The rescue has decided that if the right adopter comes along but the finances cannot support future cancer surgeries we will adopt her out as a Sponsored Adoption.  This means the rescue will be responsible for anything major medical that may arise for Adalina. We are also considering a Long Term Foster home but either way, we need somewhere for Adalina right away!  Her current foster is unable to keep her for us at this time.  Adalina is currently living in Woodward, Oklahoma and she is ready for her new furever family!  She is approximately 7-8 years old. We saved her from the kill shelter in L.A. and immediatly had a tumor removed that was causing her agony.  The vet got clear margins and her squamous cell tumore is G O N E!  Watch her video to see how thrilled she is after having her life back! She is a great dogo and even does well with her foster family children. She is a total love bug and just loves her people!! She was friendly with other small dogs and that is something a new family will need to continue to work on.  Grown dogos tend to be set in their ways so she can be dog selective. Adalina loves attention and going on walks and going on little adventures.  She has really turned herself into an amazing girl from the day we got her. She was so shut down and defeated but now she is a fantastic girl with energy and love to share! If you would like to learn more about Adalina please apply or reach out to us by email or phone!  P: 877-400-DOGO  E: paws@dcdogos.org show less

Currently in Medina, OH, Blossom is a spunky little lady! She was rescued from a shelter in San Jose, CA after being found as a stray. She is resilient, always happy, and loves giving hugs and kisses. Blossom is currently living with her awesome foster family in Ohio and enjoys the company of their children and male Dogo.   She is an absolute sweetheart and LOVES attention from people.  She just wants to feel loved and she makes that very clear with the level of affection she has for everyone she meets.  She is about 4-5 years old. She enjoys going for long walks or short jogs where she can be with her pack exploring the outdoors. Blossom is incredible at tracking sounds and smells and can be very focused on things she finds interesting. We first thought that Blossom had limited hearing, but we now think she was just so shut down from being in the shelter. Her amazing foster family has been implementing hand and vocal signals just in case. She knows basic commands, is responsive to training, and does very good on loose leash walking. Although she's a California girl at heart, Blossom actually LOVES the snow and likes to run on the ice and slide! She's a playful one! She's very affectionate towards men and absolutely adores her foster dad and brother! . Blossom does exceptionally well meeting new people- she doesn't get overly excited, and she does not jump. She does have a very strong prey drive so she probably wouldn't be good with cats. We think she would be absolutely perfect with somebody with a male dog that can keep up with her energy level. Blossom is recovering very well from a terrible sunburn on her face that she had from being a stray. She hasn't shown any food allergies food and she loves treats and bones. She's also a big cuddle bug!       show less

Buddy is an 8yo male dogo currently living in northern Ohio with his foster. He gets along really well with her cats! He loves going on walks but does not like being in the yard.  He will go out to do business but then wants to go back in, unless going on a walk!  Adores people when he's not on his territory.  He would be a great pet therapy dog if he could tone down his enthusiasm several degrees.  He does kiss on the first date. He does LOVE kids but we prefer a no kid home to ensure proper measures take place when people visit as he is very protective of his palace! Buddy has decided that he likes peanut butter on his toast.  Likes pizza, but prefers thin crust......watching his waistline.  You won't have to wash out your cereal bowl when you are done with breakfast, Buddy will gladly do that for you! He knows his basic commands and manners.  He is a senior but doesn't act like one in regards to his health and how well he gets around.  Buddy took some time to adjust with the foster and really took it hard when his world was flipped upside down and had to leave the only family he know. He was resistant but has really come a long way. He will need an experienced adopter and one with the patience to let him trust at his pace. Buddy has found the perfect foster as the stepping stone to his next home. We would not recommend a home with children since we do not know how he is around them and given his strong mindset we think a nice home with an experienced handler is best. He is very protective of his home!  Out in public he is not that way! Despite some of his quirks, Buddy proudly passed his ATTS test! This is a temperament test given by the American Temperament Test Society. For more information you can email us at paws@dcdogos.org. show less

Meet COCHA! Cocha is a stunning and fabulous 7 yr old senior who is visually/hearing impaired (she’s not completely blind nor deaf).  She was not born this way but it is coming on with age unfortunately for her.  Cocha is currently located in SC and is coming to us as an owner surrender, due to no fault of her own.  She has only known an outdoor kennel as home for the most part of her life. She is a retired hunting dog eager-to-please and very well behaved!  Cocha says she wants to spend her silver years laying on a couch binging Netflix and getting all the attention possible! Cocha loved hunting and was good at it but today she is ready for retirement life! We believe that she will need in-home training but due to her brilliant nature we also believe this will be a quick adjustment for her.  The rescue will offer some great ideas to make sure she picks up quickly so she can accimate to in-house life.   We are looking for a foster or adopter home to help start her next chapter. A home with disability experience while she learns how to become a true inside family member is great but not a requirement. Cocha would be a good dog for someone that likes to go on short walks and may or may not have a yard. We do suggest a home without stairs and obstacles would be preferred as well. She gets around fine but it is always something to consider with dogs in the silver years! Although we’ve been told that she is okay with other dogs, we don’t feel comfortable risking it at this time. Moving to a new home is going to be a big change for her so she may want to be an only dog. 😍🐾 Cocha is still with her owner and will be until we find someone able to open their home for her.  She is up to date on shots but currently is not spayed, however that will change once we find a home to move her to.  Please consider fostering and know that the rescue covers medical costs during this time should there be any.  Fosters helps us learn a lot about the dog so we can find the right home!  Fosters also have the first option to adopt should the they fall in love and want to make their foster dog part of their family! This girl is begging for a new home and comfy bed to call her own! Please fill out her foster application here if you have a space in your home/heart for her. 🙏🏼👇🏼 show less

Johnny is a 5 year old handsome guy who seems to love everyone he meets!  He is currently east of Atlanta but we picked him up at a Florida shelter along with his sister and he needs some TLC and a foster!  He just had his vet visit with us and we found out that sadly he is Heartworm Positive, but there is treatment for this. Johnny also needs to have another surgery due to some complications with the neuter he got at the facility he was in.  You wouldn't know he was uncomfortable or had this crazy infection going on because he is a fun boy full of love to give! Johnny and June are siblings but we do not consider them to be bonded from all that we know and observe.  They both need fosters and either separately or together are options. As of now we do not know how he is with other dogs, cats or kids so we prefer a home with not other animals or small children at this time.  Let us know if you can help Johnny by being his foster and get him through life saving Heartworm Treatment. The rescue covers the expense of this treatmen and provides full support to the foster.  Treatment takes about 2-3 months to complete and the dog needs to be kept calm and low key during this time.  Basically, they need to be crated or chill and binge watch Netflix with very short leash walks followed by some love and cuddles. They start out with antibiotics for 30 days, then they get their first shot, and 30 days later they get a second shot. The medication makes them tired plus they are on steroids that make them thirsty and hungry! The rescue is very experienced with the process and we make sure our fosters have everything they need so the dog is getting the best care possible! show less

Update: March 6, 2020 Judy’s foster family says she’s doing absolutely wonderful, considering she’s been in an outdoor kennel for the past year! She hasn’t had one potty accident in the house, nor in her crate during the work days.  She has been receiving a refresher course on her in-home manners/basic obedience. She’s eager to please and very treat oriented! She just wants to be near her human at all times and tends to get alittle mischievous while left alone. She is protective of her space but looks to her human for direction, and follows direction very well! With our observance, we feel that Judy would strive in an only dog home and/or with a chill male! She wants all the loving for herself. This sweet affectionate girl, Judy Blume, is still looking for her new forever home 🥰!   2/15/2020 Judy is (4) yrs old, currently in NC, and is coming to us as a owner surrender. She’s very affectionate, knows her basic commands, and very willing to please!   She has lived the past year in an outside kennel but before that was a inside family girl. That being said, she may need some polishing up on her in-home manners. Although we’ve been told that she is okay with other male dogs, we don’t feel comfortable risking it at this time. We don’t know much about this girl, but eager to learn all there is to know about her! 🙂 At this time... We are looking for a foster with no other dogs (or the ability to keep separate 24/7) and no kids under 10 years old, that will open up their home to this gorgeous girl, and provide some TLC during her spaying and healing process. 🙏🏼 show less

June is a stunning 4 year old beauty who we rescued from a shelter in northern Florida but now east of Atlanta, GA awaiting a foster offer.  This sweetheart has had a very rough life yet she is nothing but amazing and full of love! We picked her up on March 1st along with her brother, Johnny, and both of them need some TLC.  Sadly, they both are Heartworm Positive will undergo treatment for a couple of months to make them healthy again.  Currently she is about 20lbs underweight and definitely needs to put on some healthy weight.  June and Johnny came to us together but they are not considered a bonded pair and would do fine in separate homes. June has been a mama before and there is something extra special about her gentleness that we can't even put into words. She is a good girl and whomever fosters or adopts her will fall in love real quick! She was very well behaved with the staff at the vet office and everyone adored her, and Johnny too! Let us know if you can help June by being her foster and get her through life saving Heartworm Treatment. Now located in Houston, TX Lola is a 7 year old spayed female rescued from a shelter in Southern California.  Her owner surrendered her because they were moving out of state and couldn't take her with them.  They reported that Lola enjoyed being outside in their yard, was crate trained at night inside the house, enjoyed baths, and was good with kids.   While at the shelter, Lola won the hearts of all the volunteers and dog walkers! They reported that she is very friendly, affectionate, mellow and well-behaved.  She loves to be cuddled and scratched, and will roll over for belly rubs.  Lola has some basic obedience training, including leash walking, and does well in the car.  She loves walks and playing and has a medium energy level.  We are continuing to learn more about Lola as she is currently in her foster home. She needs training, but is food and treat motivated and willing to learn. She loves all people she meets, but is not too fond of other dogs.  She has never been around cats, but has a strong prey drive, so we think she should be the only pet in the home :)  Lola is a sweetheart that is looking for someone that can give her a lot of love and doesn't mind kisses!  This girl also enjoys posing for photo shoots! She is fantastic in the car and is willing to travel for the perfect home! show less

Max is located in St. Louis and currently under the care of his foster family. He has several medical issues to address before he can be adopted.  Stay tuned for more progress and please consider donating to his medical needs! UPDATE 01/15/2020 - Last week we got biopsy results back and Max has something called Pemphigus foliaceus, this is an autoimmune disease and explains so much of what we are seeing with his slow progress.  We are going through treatment with him for this and really hope he is healthy soon so he can proceed with Heartworm Treatment.  He was recently neutered in effort to to help a chronic urinary issue they felt was due to his prostate. His paws have a severe case of hyperkeratosis that causes him pain and the vet removed as much as they could and he is recovering from that as well.  Despite all that is "wrong" with Max, he is truly a lover! He lets his foster take care of him and just wants to be loved, so he gets lots of that! UPDATE 10/23/19 Max was seen at the vet on Monday and we have some of those results. He is Heartworm +, Lyme's Disease +, Hookworms +, Roundworms +, staph pyroderma, anemic, malnourished, and underweight. He has to go back to the vet for some more diagnostics but at least right now he is eating good, starting meds, and getting love from his foster. Thanks to all who have donated thus far. We expect his bill to keep rising and every bit helps! 10/20/19: Here we go again with another beautiful dogo in terrible shape thanks to people 😭. We picked him up Sunday as a breeder/owner surrender and the foster couldn't believe her eyes. Max is in so much discomfort, can barely walk or get up, peeing/vomiting blood, has hookworms, staph infection, and totally defeated. (We decided Max needs a new name for his new life, any good suggestions from a movie/TV series character!?) He was a stud male used to put money in their pockets but now in awful shape and suffering.(WATCH HIM WALK HERE https://youtu.be/EfhVYgg0Bws) He deserves better! Today he saw the vet and we ran skin scrape, heartworm test, tick-borne disease test, full bloodwork, fecal test, and exam. Our bill today was $450 including his preventatives and antibiotics. Waiting on results to see what else is wrong aside from malnutrition and neglect. He is too immunocompromised to get vaccinations at this time. 🛍️We could use your help with items for his care and for him!
