Our Adalina is being adopted!! Currently she is awaiting travel from CA to OK, congrats to our girl!!   Adalina is a wonderful dogo and beautiful girl.  She has had 2 types of cancer, both of which have been surgically removed.  The rescue has decided that if the right adopter comes along but the finances cannot support future cancer surgeries we will adopt her out as a Sponsored Adoption.  This means the rescue will be responsible for anything major medical that may arise for Adalina. We are also considering a Long Term Foster home but either way, we need somewhere for Adalina right away!  Her current foster is unable to keep her for us at this time.  Adalina is currently living in Rosamond, CA (north of Palmdale) and she is ready for her new furever family!  She is approximately 7-8 years old and we saved her from the kill shelter in L.A. and immediatly had a tumor removed that was causing her agony.  The vet got clear margins and her squamous cell tumore is G O N E!  Watch her video to see how thrilled she is after having her life back! She is a great dogo and even does well with her foster family children. She is a total love bug and just loves her people!! She was friendly with other small dogs and that is something a new family will need to continue to work on.  Grown dogos tend to be set in their ways so she can be dog selective. Adalina loves attention and going on walks and going on little adventures.  She has really turned herself into an amazing girl from the day we got her. She was so shut down and defeated but now she is a fantastic girl with energy and love to share! If you would like to learn more about Adalina please apply or reach out to us by email or phone!  P: 877-400-DOGO  E: paws@dcdogos.org show less

On 09-11-2019 Angel was reported to us from foster as being found hit and killed by a car.  Currently we are searching for Angel since we have no proof of this to full confirm that she is gone. She was last seen in Conyers, GA and if you have any information her whereabouts dead or alive please contact us.  There is currently a $250 Reward for information regarding Angel.  E: Paws@dcdogos.org or P: (877)400.DOGO. Originally a Florida gal, Angel is a 6 year old Dogo Argentino who spent about 7 months at a humane society shelter, where she was loved and adored by all staff and volunteers!! She loved seeing her people and giving kisses every single day.  She currently lives in Conyers, GA but willing to travel to her new family! Angel really loves to eat, especially if it involves peanut butter! She gets so excited to eat and she will tell you all about it too! Angel does play with another male dogo but seems to prefer to be around her human instead. Angel likes to be the dominant one and we feel that she would do best in a home without female dogs...or cats.  Now, Angel is going through training in Georgia to learn some basic manners. She is a good girl who has shown to be friendly with people, and even children! They are working on her socialization techniques with other dogs now that she knows she's in a safe place.  Angel has some funny little anxieties that are cute- it seems that everything is new to her, and she's got the excitement of a puppy to see the world! She has a whole world to experience so we are taking it step by step with this sweetheart. Angel is ready to be adopted to a home that has the time and patience to continue working on her training. The rescue does provide initial training but the adopter needs to take it from there and make sure she continues to be a wonderful Dogo. Angel has a strong will to chase and catch squirrels and any other critter she gets a glimpse of!  Cats are off limits for her so a no cat home is a must.  Updates about Angel will be provided as we continue to learn more about her and watch her progress through training!! Currently in Medina, OH, Blossom is a spunky little lady! She was rescued from a shelter in San Jose, CA after being found as a stray. She is resilient, always happy, and loves giving hugs and kisses. Blossom is currently living with her awesome foster family in Ohio and enjoys the company of their children and male Dogo.   She is an absolute sweetheart and LOVES attention from people.  She just wants to feel loved and she makes that very clear with the level of affection she has for everyone she meets.  She is about 4-5 years old. She enjoys going for long walks or short jogs where she can be with her pack exploring the outdoors. Blossom is incredible at tracking sounds and smells and can be very focused on things she finds interesting. We first thought that Blossom had limited hearing, but we now think she was just so shut down from being in the shelter. Her amazing foster family has been implementing hand and vocal signals just in case. She knows basic commands, is responsive to training, and does very good on loose leash walking. Although she's a California girl at heart, Blossom actually LOVES the snow and likes to run on the ice and slide! She's a playful one! She's very affectionate towards men and absolutely adores her foster dad and brother! . Blossom does exceptionally well meeting new people- she doesn't get overly excited, and she does not jump. She does have a very strong prey drive so she probably wouldn't be good with cats. We think she would be absolutely perfect with somebody with a male dog that can keep up with her energy level. Blossom is recovering very well from a terrible sunburn on her face that she had from being a stray. She hasn't shown any food allergies food and she loves treats and bones. She's also a big cuddle bug!       show less

Buddy is an 8yo male dogo currently living in northern Ohio with his foster. He gets along really well with her cats! He loves going on walks but does not like being in the yard.  He will go out to do business but then wants to go back in, unless going on a walk!  Adores people when he's not on his territory.  He would be a great pet therapy dog if he could tone down his enthusiasm several degrees.  He does kiss on the first date. He does LOVE kids but we prefer a no kid home to ensure proper measures take place when people visit as he is very protective of his palace! Buddy has decided that he likes peanut butter on his toast.  Likes pizza, but prefers thin crust......watching his waistline.  You won't have to wash out your cereal bowl when you are done with breakfast, Buddy will gladly do that for you! He knows his basic commands and manners.  He is a senior but doesn't act like one in regards to his health and how well he gets around.  Buddy took some time to adjust with the foster and really took it hard when his world was flipped upside down and had to leave the only family he know. He was resistant but has really come a long way. He will need an experienced adopter and one with the patience to let him trust at his pace. Buddy has found the perfect foster as the stepping stone to his next home. We would not recommend a home with children since we do not know how he is around them and given his strong mindset we think a nice home with an experienced handler is best. He is very protective of his home!  Out in public he is not that way! Despite some of his quirks, Buddy proudly passed his ATTS test! This is a temperament test given by the American Temperament Test Society. For more information you can email us at paws@dcdogos.org. show less

Jack is currently in Florida and new to our rescue as of 6-14-19.  Jack is friendly to everyone he meets especially for men and particularly for men with beards!!  He must have had a good man in his life at one point because he gravitates to them and gives lots of love and hugs.  He would make the perfect pet for a man who wants a low activity amazing senior dogo! Jack also likes the ladies and currently lives at his foster mom's house amoung his haremm of females of all shapes, colors, and sizes!!  Clearly a womanizer with his handsome good looks and suave style! Cats are not safe around Jack so a no cat home is required! He seems to be well mannered and a nice senior dogo ready to find a new home to love and adore him after he gets going on his heartworm treatment. Yes, we did say heartworm! Unfortunately Jack was diagnosed with heartworms when we pulled him from the shelter but seems to be in early stages. He also had pyroderm gangriousum, which means he had a bad skin infection that went too far.  This takes months to a year to fully heal and we expect him to recover from the skin damage this type of condition causes. This disease will cost the rescue an average of $1200 when it is all complete, and that is a discounted rate that we get from our vets. Any help you can provide towards that is greatly appreciated!  (www.dcdogos.org/donate) Jack's personal Amazon Wish List:  https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/POLV1BJXUNF1?ref_=wl_share show less
