About Sadie

Adoption Fee: $500

Sadie is 11 ish-months, 25-pounds female dachshund/lab mix. This sweet girl is so happy and gentle - she was found as a stray in Texas before coming into our care. She has mastered going potty outside but is still learning the concept of leash-walking as she's quite strong and pulls hard.  Sadie is pretty smart (the lab part of her) and learned 'sit' pretty quickly. She is playful and really enjoys the dog park, and is great with people and kids but a little shy initially. Sadie is also a great traveler in the car! Such a silly girl as you can see by these photos!

She would do best in an active home with a yard and another dog to play with.

Vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed.

Bobbie is a 3-year-old 12-pound, house-trained scruffy terrier mix. He has a medium energy level and attaches quickly to his person, but he can take a little while to warm up to visitors and people on the street.   We're looking for a foster-to-adopt or adopter who will be committed to continuing Bobbie's training with no children in the home. Bobbie has exhibited territorial behavior in the past (guarding his food, barking at outside sounds and rushing the door when new people enter). Bobbie was originally rescued from the ACC, where he had been surrendered by his owners in November. He has bounced around a bit in foster homes, not quite finding the right training.  He's been in his new foster/training for 3 weeks and he's doing much better with staying calm and not barking and being less fearful.   Everyone in his forever home will need to commit to continuing his current training regimen with an approved Waggytail trainer in their area, to fully extinguish problem behaviors which may re-emerge after transitions.  Outside, Bobbie is all business and he likes to go #1 in the street and then find a quiet spot for #2, followed by fun zoomies back at home.  Bobbie has excellent leash walking skills and will sit whenever his handler stops walking.  He is crate trained and is calm and quiet when home alone in his crate.  Bobbie tends to ignore other dogs and has shown no aggression or interest in other dogs.  He is very smart and very food motivated - he has learned some obedience commands including "sit", "down", "out", "come" and "lay down/place".  Vaccinated for bordatella, dhpp, rabies. Neutered and microchipped. Please contact us DIRECTLY using the instructions below if you are interested in fostering or adopting one of our Waggytails! Buddy is 3ish-years, 55-pounds male loveable mix. He was found a month ago, emaciated and tied up outside in the rain for days. After a month in the city shelter, he's now in our foster care. Poor Buddy had mange and a severe painful skin infection (treated at the shelter). Now that he is feeling better, this sweet jokester loves to play with his tennis balls and Kong toy. Buddy is learning to fetch, and is happy to run and get the ball, though hasn’t yet grasped bringing the object back - he seems to think it's the humans job to chase him for the toy! While out taking a stroll, he prefers to hold onto his leash as though he is “walking” himself. Buddy the goofball is not quite aware of his size and considers himself a lap dog. He is oh so handsome, with four white socks, a freckled nose, and the cutest white tip of a tail. This boy gets along well with his foster siblings - small dog and cat - and at the shelther - he was also fine with the other dogs. However, Buddy prefers human affection/companionship rather than hanging with other four-pawwed beings. He's also housetrained! Vaccinated for rabies, 1 round (needs booster) of dhpp, bordetella. Microchipped and heartworm negative. In process of being evaluated to see if he can get neutered.  Please contact us DIRECTLY using the instructions below if you are interested in adopting one of our Waggytails! Burrito - more affectionately known as Cranky Roy - is an 8ish-year old, 12-pound chihuahua (jack russell/rat terrier?) mix. Roy is a cute little bow-legged guy with chunky feet, but cranky hence his name. Cranky Roy is house-trained and takes about 4 walks - well more like waddles - a day but he LOVES being outside. Outside, he runs around playing 'tag you're it' both with humans and other dogs. He can be very sweet, but needs a patient family who respects his boundaries and gives him space when he demands it. Roy loves snacking on fresh vegetables and enjoys the occasional dorito (because they're named after him). He can be needy of attention and climbs on you for pets and rubs, but if you are busy, he happily uses your feet as his own personal scratching post. At this time, we would not recommend a home with kids. Received rabies, da2pp, bordatella vaccines. Heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. Harold is 3ish-years, 15-pounds male shih tzu found as a stray, now in our care after about a month in the shelter. He is quiet and loves to go for walks - even trots a bit - great on a leash and fully house-trained. Harold seems to be a typical shih tzu, affection on his terms, with the signature lion roar. This salt and pepper boy is still learning human trust and growls when he feels threatened - understandable considering his very recent past - which happens when he's approached too quickly especially in his crate/pen and also when he can't see you approaching.  MOST IMPORTANTLY, Harold is special needs, as one-eyed Harry is missing his left eye. He needs a patient and understanding family - adults only - familiar with shih tzu behavior and vision-impaired dogs. Harold sees fine out of his right eye, but has noticeable issues with stairs and certain objects (sticks in his path for example). If he's touched on his back first, and spoken to, he allows himself to be picked up and carried down a few stairs. Hal is a good boy with giving his warning growl and only wants to please. Only adopters understanding the breed willing to spend quality time providing training and patience and love will be considered. Vaccinated for rabies, dhpp. bordetella. Microchipped, heartworm negative, neutered.  Please contact us DIRECTLY using the instructions below if you are interested in adopting one of our Waggytails! Meet Leslie! This pretty mama is a 3ish-years, 10 + pounds female rat terrier mix. She  came  to NY from a partner group in LA who rescued her as a street dog.  She'd had a litter there, and while the neighborhood took care of Leslie, she lost 2 pups and was struggling - so eventually she was surrendered to the local rescue.  Once in their care, it was discovered  she was again pregnant with another litter -  so she and one remaining pup (JJ who was adopted in NY) were flown here before she gave birth .  We decided to wait until the new litter of pups were weened (which they are now) to offer her for adoption and start her new life on the east coast.    Leslie is a gorgeous girl who is gentle, sweet, and great with everyone - kids, dogs and cats.  She's housebroken, and enjoys  running and playing outdoors!  An active household would be great for her, as she's fast and fun. Just keep her tight on that harness. Once in a while she'll be a little food protective around the resident dogs, but otherwise she's super mellow. Leslie is currently in New Jersey with her foster who has requested  due to the present circumstances that she be introduced to folks from the area  if possible- in order to avoid unecessary movement from town to town.  Though we will also take apps from other areas.  Also, Leslie needs to be spayed and microchipped. (we provide chip and  ASPCA spay).  She's Vaccinated for rabies but we need to determine if dhpp is required.   Please contact us DIRECTLY using the instructions below if you are interested in adopting one of our Waggytails!
