About Mac

Meet Little Mac🙂❤️

Meet Little Mac, a 2 year old male Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, weighing in at 12 pounds. My favorite activities are playing with stuffed animals, snuggling on the couch, burrowing in blankets and playing with my foster playmates. I like to be the “Top Dog,” so a home with no other dogs or a submissive smaller playmate is ideal. Mac can bark when left alone, but settles quickly. House trained, walks well on leash, fully vaccinated and neutered. Would do well in a home with older respectful children.

Anita is a gorgeous female 30lb, 8 month old Formosan Mountain Dog all the way from Taiwan. She is still a puppy with very high energy. She loves to explore the yard, play with toys and chew on absolutely everything. She is fantastic with all other dogs. She is potty trained and understands "no." She is incredibly smart and agile and would make an amazing outdoors explorer, hiking or running buddy. She taught herself how to use the doggy door to go outside on her own. Anita is very timid and scared when she first meets anyone, but warms up within a day or so to become your shadow. She is easily intimidated by new scenery and noises, but at home is a typical happy go lucky confident girl. She always has a happy disposition and will snuggle and give kisses for a very short period of time, then its time to play some more! Anita requires a fenced yard of at least 5 feet and enrollment in basic obedience classes. She needs someone who has the time and patience to train her from shy puppy, to trained explorer superdog! Anita is very food motivated and will respond well to training with treats. She may be a challenge at first, but she will be the most rewarding best friend once she learns confidence and some boundaries. Anita would do best with no kitties. She is spayed, chipped and up to date on all vaccines. show less

Bruce is a very fit, highly intelligent five-year old Black Lab/Pointer mix with a distinguished gray beard that he has had since he was one year old. Bruce was mistreated and starved until I adopted him at age one. He was timid and scared of everything for three months. I gained his trust and he became an outgoing dog and a dear friend. Since then, as an avid outdoor enthusiast, Bruce has been on many road trips, camping trips and countless hikes. In the four years that I’ve had him, I’ve never missed a day of taking him out.  His routine has been a minimum of at least one hour per day of semi-intense exercise. Most hiking is done off leash and Bruce is pretty good with verbal commands. On a leash, he can pull if he sees a squirrel or bunny, as he loves to chase them.  He has never ‘caught’ any. " Bruce is great around kids (we have an 8 year old), other big and small dogs, cats and livestock.  He will chase chicken. Bruce loves fetching tennis balls and swimming after sticks, but most of all he loves off leash adventure. Bruce has seizures two to three times per year.  His vet at Village Veterinarianian Hospital thinks it may be a chemical sensitivity.  Chemicals like Roundup or paint fumes seem to trigger them. It came to our awareness a year ago that a child in our family is severely allergic to dogs. Despite our efforts to mitigate this (air filters, HEPA vacuum, installing hardwood floors, etc), she continues to be severely symptomatic at times. Our family loves Bruce beyond words.  He is loyal, kind and eager to please.  It’s hard to watch him be isolated for health reasons.  He loves to be a part of the ‘pack.’  Bruce would do best in a home with people who have experience with sporting dog breeds and are active people who can ensure he gets daily exercise. Bruce will always be sensitive from his tough experiences as a puppy.  In addition to exercise, he also needs love and companionship. If you can give Buce lots of love and exercise, you will have an amazing dog who will be loyal, protective ,and one of the best adventure buddies you will find. show less
