About Luke

Luke is an 8 y/o Dachshund / Jack Russell Terrier Mix who came to us as an owner surrender.  He is a little shy / skittish with people he doesn't know well, but once he gets used to you, he is a major snuggly snuggle buddy who wants to be held and loved on ALL THE TIME.  If you want a velcro lap dog, this is your boy!!  Luke is also a fantastic alarm dog, as he'll let you know right away if someone has shown up at your door.  No one will ever sneak up on you!

Luke generally gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and ages, although he can be a little snippy with dogs that insist on invading his personal space.  He's had a full senior blood panel done, and he is completely healthy apart from needing a teeth cleaning.  We'll get his dental work handled before he goes to his new home.  Luke is not on any special medications, and he is still active and ready to go!  He is (mostly) house trained, (mostly) crate trained, and (fully) nondestructive.

Adoption Fee: $200

Hello all, Bruce Wayne here.  Despite my dark namesake, I am your pretty typical Yellow Lab...  Happy go lucky, easy going, and blind as a bat.  Badum tss!  Unfortunately, like the true Dark Knight, I've lost my family and am looking for that special sidekick to help me get back out into the world again. I really enjoy being out in the sun, going for strolls around the yard, tackling my dinner with gusto, and goofing off with my friends.  I love listening to music too, and if you play some Pandora on your phone, I'll follow you around and dance with you.  I may be an older fella, but I ain't dead yet!  I am good with dogs of all genders, sizes, and ages, but I have not been cat tested yet - that can be done if my new sidekick is going to be of the feline persuasion! Being blind doesn't stop me either.  I don't mind car rides, like meeting new people, and am happy to go exploring with you, as long as you take it slow and help me not bump into every little thing around me.  Heck, even when I do, I pick myself up and keep going!  Nothing gets me down, and my tail never stops wagging.  I am even housebroken - I don't need my eyes to know the difference between grass and your new carpet! Come pick me up, and let's hop into the Batmobile and drive off into the sunset together. I'm ready, so send in your app! show less

Please meet Linus, who comes to us from Rockdale County AC. He was stuck in a ditch full of mud and water for an entire week before someone finally called Animal Control to rescue him.  :(  Linus is about an 11 y/o Chow mix who walked in the door and immediately fell in love with my daughter (don’t they all?). He follows her everywhere and scratches at her door if he can’t get to her. Safe to say he is kid friendly! Linus is heartworm negative, already neutered, and up to date on all shots. He recently had a full senior bloodwork panel done (all healthy!) and a full dental cleaning completed. He seems to see fine, but has limited hearing - if you yell REAL loud, he can hear you, but you've got to put some effort into it! :) Linus weighs 45lbs currently and is right at a good weight for his size. He is tolerant of other calm, quiet dogs, but does not do well with young, jumpy things.  He has some arthritis and moves slowly, so he doesn't appreciate being bumped and jostled. He does take daily medication for arthritis pain, and for a little bit of acid reflux that he gets. Linus is nondestructive and prefers to be left to sleep in peace in one of our bedrooms. He absolutely cannot tolerate being crated or contained, but thankfully he doesn’t cause a bit of trouble when he’s out, so we just leave him be loose.  He does like to wander around and sniff out in the yard, but he is a perfect gentleman on a leash and would be just fine being leash walked as well. Linus is available to go home with you today!  Please contact us if you'd like him to join your family. show less

Pupperoo is an 11 y/o generic yellow dog (Old Yeller, as my vet called him) who was an owner surrender to Barrow County Animal Control. He had been with his family since he was a puppy, raised alongside their three children, but unfortunately they were recently evicted from their home and having to move into a homeless shelter. They were unable to bring Pupperoo with them or find him a new home (I suppose), so this poor guy found himself at the shelter. He is about 60lbs of sweet, scared, and confused. A very quiet and gentle boy, who got nervous on the car ride home and pooped all over everything in my life. That's okay, buddy, we got you! Pupperoo is heartworm negative and was neutered when he came into our care.  We also did a full senior blood panel, which came back fantastic.  He is in great shape for his age!  Pupperoo is living with a foster family right now that includes kids, dogs, and cats.  He's learned to be comfortable with all his four legged companions, but he doesn't particularly care for young, pushy dogs.  Pup would do best with an experienced dog owner who knows how to handle slow introductions, as well as with quiet, respectful 4-legged companions.  He is quiet in the house, preferring to spend his time sleeping and snuggling.  He does enjoy a jaunt around the neighborhood each evening and walks very nicely on a leash.  He is housetrained, does not chew anything inappropriate, and is crate trained but does not have to be kept in a crate.  He is a sweet boy who loves booty scratches and causes no trouble at all! If you'd like to meet Pupperoo and show him that family is forever, please contact us!  He can go home with you today! show less

Tina is a very special little girl who came to us as a transfer in from Releash Atlanta.  She is about 9-10 y/o, she weighs 6lbs, and she has all of 2 teeth left.  She loves other dogs and is happiest when she has several playmates around, but she is a little diva and has no problem putting the bigger dogs in their place if they get too rough with her!  She eats well (she even scarfs down dry food!) and is (mostly) housetrained.  Tina enjoys wandering around our yard, sniffing and exploring and finding dirt to roll in, so we usually keep her coat cut pretty short - she has beautiful poodle curls when it's longer! Unfortunately, Tina comes from a difficult background, and as such, she is very skittish with people.  She wants to be in the same room with you, to know that you're there, but TINA IS NOT A LAP DOG OR SNUGGLE BUDDY.  With a lot of time and patience, she will let you hold her from time to time, but she does not enjoy being petted or cuddled.  Tina is also in the early stages of dementia, which we are treating with hopes of slowing it down.  What this means for her day to day life right now is that she likes to pace a particular path around the yard, back into the house, and back around the yard again.  After she's done her pacing, she will eventually curl up in a bed near you and take a nice long midday snooze, before she's up to walk her path again. Tina has some unique quirks, but she is a sweet, happy, adorable little dog.  She will wag her tail at you and follow you gladly from room to room.  She wants to find someone who loves her and accepts her as she is, and we believe that perfect family is out there!  Tina needs a fenced yard, so she can safely walk her paths, and she would do best in a home with another dog or two for companionship.  She is not destructive and does not have to be crated / confined, as long as she has a buddy around and is not totally alone (which scares her).  Will you be Tina's special family? show less
