About MARY-OUR FEATURED CAT

MARY WON'T BE CONTRARY IF SHE GETS A HOME

Hi, I am a beautiful one and a half year-old tabby girl who needs a home. I have a very sweet, pleasant personality, but I might become contrary, like Mary in the nursery rhyme, if I have to stay in the shelter forever.

I sit in my room at the shelter just hoping someone will pass by my door. When I hear anyone approach, my ears perk up. Then I invite them in with my sweet, little meow. I am so happy when someone visits.

I am very affectionate, and I love to be around people. I am definitely a girlie girl, and if a nice woman adopts me, I will be over the moon.  I also want to be an only pet. I prefer to be the center of my beloved human's world, so I prefer not to have other pets around who would be getting part of the attention I would otherwise have.

I still have some of my baby fat, but when I came to Standish, I was put on a diet.  I am happy to say that I have already begun losing weight.I am also exercising as much as I can. I like to chase the laser light and try to catch the mouse toy. I get a good workout from that.  Once I have lost my baby fat, I will be just gorgeous.

Love

Mary

Tumbles, a two-year old black and white male, is the perfect cat for anyone wanting a cuddle buddy and a lap cat. Tumbles is all this in spades.  He is truly one of a kind and very special.  Tumbles was found abandoned in the backyard of his original family's home when he was about two weeks old. They could see he was a little more wobbly than most very young kittens, but otherwise he was fine.  They took him in, bottle fed him, and took wonderful care of him.  They loved him very much, but due to recent misfortune, they could no longer keep him and brought him to Standish. They love him and even visit him at the shelter. Tumbles is so sweet. and he will adore having all the petting and cuddles you want to give him. He also likes to play with little mice toys and with a mouse on a wand. He has lots of purrsonality. Tumbles is a special needs cat, because he has a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia or CH. You can read all about it at http://chcat.org/about-ch-cats/. Because of his CH, Tumbles cannot walk well, and when he walks, he needs to walk along a wall to help him navigate. He can pull himself along, however, so he is mobile. He needs a carpet or thick blanket to sleep and play on.  He has no problem using the litter box properly. Although his condition will not get worse, it will not get better, but cats with CH live a normal life span.
