About Sanford

Sanford is doing great, happy and healthy and absolutely beautiful.  He is at least 10 years old and a little on the bigger side about 60 pounds.  He deserves the best home.

BROKEN & FORGOTTEN

There he sat. Hit by a car, dragged in by a catch pole, and thrown into a concrete cell only to wait to be put out of his misery.  He sat there without a second thought for a WEEK! It wasn't until a volunteer managed to "get permission" to visit the shelter was he seen. And then, he was given a day to get out!

He was unable to walk, hasn't eaten, and he has road rash all over his backside. We can't imagine the pain he has been in, but we were determined to help this guy.

He needed to be hospitalized.  He's an older guy, of course heart worm positive, and he's been carrying a bullet around for a while. His road rash was cleaned up, and despite the swelling, nothing was broken!

Autumn, saved in the nick of time.  Sweet little one was in loud kennel by herself about to give birth to 10 puppies.  When a saint came along to bring her home to the peace and quiet of their home for her to have her babies.  Puppies were born on October 16, 2017.  Momma took good care of her babies and all have been adopted and living the high life.  Autumn is ready to find her furever home now.  She is very sweet and calm.  She is a bit shy at first, it takes her a little time to warm up to her surrounding, we are thinking she had a pretty rough life up to her arrival in the shelter.  But with your patience and love, in turn you will get a loyal and loving companion. Autumn is around 4 years old and 45 pounds.  She is so sweet and has learned how to become a dog and enjoy life now with the comforts of a good home. All Dallas DogRRR adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. The standard minimum donation for puppies is $300, dogs over 12 months is $200 and for our senior dogs $100. Bambi is a sweet snuggle bug.  She just wants to be by her hooman all the time! This beautiful momma was left behind not once she was left behind twice!  She was an owner surrender with her puppies the owner knew there was a chance she could be euthanized but they left her anyway.  Then a rescue came in and rescued her puppies and left her behind.  Then a litter of husky puppies came in the shelter and they used her to nurse them and mom was once again left behind when another rescue took them. She was a code red mama dog with no puppies.  She didn't deserve to be left behind that many times.  We have named her Bambi and intend on making sure her new smile never leaves!  She is a sweet girl and exudes happiness now that she is free. All Dallas DogRRR adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Look how hunky and handsome I am! This boy is the absolute sweetest.  He lives for face scratches...and food!  He was extremely underweight but is now a healthy weight at 80 pounds.  His skin and coat are gorgeous, and his low back/hips seem to be feeling better because he is playing and can now get up on the couch.  He just wants love and attention...and a comfortable place to rest his head.  He has such an easy going temperment.  Loves his daily walks and good meeting new people on his walks. Dog friendly (with medium to large dogs), people friendly, kid friendly, house trained, crate trained.  He's a little 'too interested' in cats and small dogs. Barber is a sweet eight-year-old Rottweiler mix that came into a local shelter as a stray on 10/15. Just look into his eyes and you could tell he was sad and longing for a good home. Barber had some hair loss down the the center of his back and his tail. He is slightly arthritic in his back legs. Judging from the calluses on his elbows he has probably spent most of his life outside. This sweet, sweet senior needed out of the shelter and on to a better life than he’s obviously known thus far. I absolutely fell in love with this precious boy and I know you will too. He is very calm and gentle and chooses to stay close to his human friend. He is very loving. He gives kisses. He sits for treats. He wants to please. Barber is waiting to go home with you. Barkley 'The Brave' quickly adapting to the good life and learning to please so quickly. This super sweet boy is still healing.  He is likely to be around 60 pounds, and has never met a soul he doesn't think is a friend.  He adores my daughter.  Has zero issues with other dogs.  He is a mature dog, but that means he already knows many of the 'rules', like outside potty and is very smart and learning commands quick. Barkley whether a “Bait Dog” or “Dog Attacked” he suffered for days the wounds were old and necrotic!  He was in shock and remained unconscious while the medical staff had to turn/flip his body for him. The wounds are focused on the head, face, neck and ear. His elbow has a lot punctures causing a large amount of swelling, the rest of his body has wounds, the worst of the injuries are his head, neck and ears. Barkley is fighting, his wounds are infected, his bloodwork looks good white count elevated and no broken bones. We are watching for septic and making sure he is comfortable as his body heals!  One of his ears sustained severe damage and will need surgery. All Dallas DogRRR adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption.  The standard minimum donation for puppies is $300, dogs over 12 months is $200 and for our senior dogs $100.  You can view all the adoptable pets and fill out an adoption application online on our website at http://dallasdogrrr.org.  For more information, you can email adopt@dallasdogrrr.org. Bonnie Mae is a 8 month old puppy about 18-20 pounds.  She was surrendered to the shelter for what we thought was some sort of obstruction in her belly. Once checked out by our vets she was diagnosed with megaesophagus.  Luckily we were able to come up with a good plan for Ms. Bonnis Mae that seems to be working well.  She will need two pills each day to help with digestion and to ensure she eats the required calorie intake per day.  While this is something that will require daily attention, we have been lucky enough to diagnose and have treatment plan in place it should be easily managable. She is young and while there is no cure it is managable but will require a dedicated person committed to helping this adorable girl live a happy, healthy life. Bullwinkle is a goofy, adventurous boy who loves playing with other pups!  He gets a little nervous around new people so he would love someone with some patience that will help him through this time by slowing introducing him to new outings, new people and showing him little by little its not so bad out there.  He is a precious boy, who loves to cuddle, hug and play once you pass his 'approved' list!    Bullwinkle weighs around 40 pounds and is about a year old. Bullwinkle and his brother were two sweet young, scared pups found in shelter.  Scared of everything, can not imagine how they lived the first several months of their lives to be this scared.  We had a wonderful foster step up to work with them along with one of our trainers to ensure these pups gain the confidence they need to find wonderful homes and ensure they have a great future.  They have made great strides just need wonderful, caring home to help continue showing them love and patience. Oh Camilla, you are a little piggy playing in the mud.  This little girl is a clown with her big smile and happy go lucky attitude.  Who could resist that face?  Camilla came from a neglected past and has a hard time trusting new people, but that smile she gives you once you’re in her circle of trust makes everything worth it.  We have been working with Camilla on her overall confidence. While this beautiful girl has healed on the outside and looks so beautiful, she still has some healing to do on the inside from her previously neglected life.  She is sweet but takes a little time to earn her trust and love.  But we all know once you do, there is nothing better than a dog so devoted, loyal and thankful for the love and safe life they have now. Found dumped with a few belongings and a blanket in a alley.  She would not leave far from the blanket as that is the only thing she knows.  Scared, cold, wet, hurt and unsure what to do next this poor girl needed help immediately.  We are getting her all checked out as she has fleas, worms, gashes and very scared.  She is sweet and shown no aggression. All Dallas DogRRR adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Is there room for this pretty girl in your life? Carolina is looking for that special someone! She and her brother Sonny have come a LONG way and she showed that over the weekend at Hollywood Feed. She's gone from hating attention to almost craving it and walks incredibly well on a leash (versus biting/freezing). She is very treat motivated and was easy to teach to sit. She does good with dogs, especially low energy dogs as she won't fetch or wrestle. And while she'll willingly jumps on your lap for pets, she really isn't a cuddler or will lay down on your lap. She's independent that way and doesn't need to be crated either. She needs to keep moving forward and deserves a home! New to the story of Sonny & Carolina... here's a video from North Texas Giving Day: https://vimeo.com/358414206 Carolina is a beautiful red pit mix, dainty in size.  Over the last 6 months she has made huge strides in her confidence and willingness to forget her past.  She has become more social and will even jump on the bed for pets.  She is dog friendly and loves to be in your lap for car rides.  She would make a great family pet, just needs some time to warm up and get used to her new surroundings.  She is healthy, sweet, weighs about 30 pounds and is 3 years old. Carolina was found with her brother and based on their demeanor when we found them it is assumed they had little human interaction.  Over the past 6 months, they have opened up and their trust has increased.   So Sonny, the poor pup shivering in the shelter afraid of anything that comes near him, has a sister... meet Carolina. Like her brother, she is equally as shy, so hopefully together they can build some confidence!  We look forward to seeing the change in these two now that they are in a loving foster home. All Dallas DogRRR adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption.
