About Jada

Jada was found with her puppy, Willow, in an industrial area near Oakland, CA. Both were underweight, starved for food and attention, sick from parasites and exposure, and even sprayed by a skunk. They had recently had their ears cropped, an especially cruel experience for an adult dog, like Jada. Jada was especially tired and weary of strangers, from caring for Willow.

Though DC Dogos initially intended to place Jada and Willow as a bonded pair, several weeks of evaluation and decompression revealed a need for Jada and Willow to start new, separate journeys, so they both can have their best chance.

Jada has come to love and trust her foster family quickly. She is playful with her male dogo foster brother and affectionate toward her foster family. She enjoys cuddling, playing with toys, and lounging on the furniture. However, she has demonstrated stress, fear, and protective reactions to unfamiliar people and places, especially around Willow.  These behaviors likely stem from suspected past abuse and from having to protect Willow during their time on the loose. Jada is currently working on learning to develop trust, confidence and basic obedience with her loving foster family.

Jada will do best in an adult-only, low-stress home, with a consistent routine and few strange visitors. Jada is a mama's girl at heart but she would also appreciate a kind, loving, gentle dad. Her ideal "fur"-ever family will be committed to continuing her training--consistent and firm in establishing expectations for Jada but very patient and affectionate. Jada would love a fenced yard, with an easygoing male canine friend and a soft dog bed for naps.

We welcome applications for Jada, but please be patient as we work on Jada's training. Preference will be given to adopters local to Arizona and able to attend a meet and greet prior to adoption.

Originally a Florida gal, Angel is a 6 year old Dogo Argentino who spent about 7 months at a humane society shelter, where she was loved and adored by all staff and volunteers!! She loved seeing her people and giving kisses every single day.  She currently lives in Conyers, GA but willing to travel to her new family! Angel really loves to eat, especially if it involves peanut butter! She gets so excited to eat and she will tell you all about it too! Angel does play with another male dogo but seems to prefer to be around her human instead. Angel likes to be the dominant one and we feel that she would do best in a home without female dogs...or cats.  Now, Angel is going through training in Georgia to learn some basic manners. She is a good girl who has shown to be friendly with people, and even children! They are working on her socialization techniques with other dogs now that she knows she's in a safe place.  Angel has some funny little anxieties that are cute- it seems that everything is new to her, and she's got the excitement of a puppy to see the world! She has a whole world to experience so we are taking it step by step with this sweetheart. Angel is ready to be adopted to a home that has the time and patience to continue working on her training. The rescue does provide initial training but the adopter needs to take it from there and make sure she continues to be a wonderful Dogo. We are not sure how she is around cats but, from what we see, cats wouldn't make it in her home-  she has a strong will to chase and catch squirrels and any other critter she gets a glimpse of!   Updates about Angel will be provided as we continue to learn more about her and watch her progress through training!! Faith is a sweet female dogo argentino with a loving soul and heart of gold!  Her will to survive is beyond impressive and she will surely be a gift to her next family.  Faith is deaf but that doesn't stop her from being 100% awesome!  She is a brilliant girl that wants to learn and loves being rewarded with treats and kisses.  She doesn't have all her manners yet but is learning every day how to behave like a lady!  Her favorite past time is counter surfing but we are working towards a different interest to better suit the home life! One new improvement with Faith is that she is now learning how to play with other dogs!! We would still recommend an owner that understands the breed and how to properly socialize dogs as this still needs work. If you are looking for a dog to be your personal comedian look no further, Faith is that dog!! She is spunky and she will make you smile and laugh on a regular basis! The perfect human is someone with patience to learn her language, which is sign!  She is a fast learner and knows the basic commands.  This human also needs a safe fenced in yard with room for her to explore! Major plus for her is if you have a playground, she loves to climb things!!! Faith says that she wants anyone interested to please do their research on deaf dogs before applying!  She says that dogs like her make great pets once their humans work on their own sign language commands.  Faith also says it's true that deaf dogs are more "clingy" that other dogs because they want to be by their human's side as much as possible because they depend on their human so much! One last thing, Faith did say she loves wide open spaces to run but has been advised that deaf dogs really need a yard with a high (6ft+) fence.  Apparently this helps humans from losing their deaf dogs that can't seem to hear them when they call them to come back!   Thank you for your interest in adopting.  You can learn more about her rescue that loves her to pieces at www.dcdogos.org. show less

Macy Mae (formerly Didi) was recently rescued from the Miami shelter and seems to be a very friendly and sweet girl.  We will update as we learn more about here but for now we need a foster to help her recover from a complicated spay.  She also needs a lot of TLC and good food to help continue to get better from demodex, this is being treated and not considered to be contagious.Macy Mae is now in Tampa, FL but willing to move to the perfect foster parent!!  We will only consider homes without cats and small children until we learn more about her.  She does not react to other dogs from what they could tell at the shelter but has not been introduced to any as of yet. Please apply if you can foster or follow our link here if you can donate towards her care, www.dcdogos.org/donate. Update 5-15-19: Macy is a very friendly girl and has met both male and female strangers and does very well. She was interested in chasing a squirrel but what dogo doesn't do that?! She is very friendly to the other dogs in the home and will meet them offleash soon since she is 1 week into her recovery from spay. She is very easy to have around, not a barker, fabulous on a leash and loves going on walks around the neighborhood.  She is a good car rider too!  🛒Macy does have her own shopping list if anyone is interested in buying some extra items to send directly to her! Macy's Amazon List Macy thanks everyone who has sent her gifts!! She seems to not know what to do with toys but quickly learns that they are hers and she LOVES them!! show less

RIO IS MISSING FROM THE SAN ANTONIO, TX AREA.  We decided to keep his profile up to help spread the word.  We love all of our rescues and have put forth a lot of time and money in searching for him and will continue to do so until he is back with the rescue. Please keep an eye out for him on social media and locally if your in the San Antonio area.  Rio is looking for someone that will like to talk him on long walks so he can enjoy the fresh air and daydream about actually catching one of the squirrels that cross his path. He is a strong but obedient when directed by his assertive handler. Just like all male dogos, Rio loves to test his boundaries and needs to be reminded of his place in your pack! He understands commands and responds well to training and corrections.  He may look tough on the outside but he is a big mush when it comes to giving some love!  He also loves chews and squeaky toys! But his favorite item in the world is a security blanket that he takes everywhere, even when he goes outside to do a little sunbathing! Rio found himself a stray in Puerto Rico after Hurrican Maria and recently traveled to Texas with the family that helped him.  He is a 3 yo friendly neutered healthy Dogo Argentino that loves the older children (10+) in his life. He wants a home where he can run and play with his humans and other non-dominant dogs. Rio says he wants a family that will give him lots of lovins'!  If you want a shadow to follow you around, Rio says he loves doing that! Rio is described to be friendly, active, playful, smart, and affectionate by his current humans. Right now he is spoiled with a tasty raw diet that is making a big difference in his recovery after being a stray with no food after the hurricane.  His first home when he got to Texas had an intact male Cane Corso and the two didn't  seem to want to share the same territory. Rio arrived to the States in late February and now needs a home that better suits him. He is dog friendly but needs a home without another alpha dog. He sounds to be textbook Dogo in regards to his traits, personality, and handsome good looks!  Rio is housetrained, crate trained, not a digger, not a fence jumper, good with older kids (no toddlers), and good with meeting new people too! He is very well behaved and eager to learn and please his humans!  He is currently located near Houston, TX but willing to relocate.  Tranpsort can be arranged for the perfect home! Rio is a member of the DC Dogos Inc family and you can learn more about us and him at www.dcdogos.org. show less

Violet has got to be one of the most well mannered dogos we have ever rescued! This girl clearly knows how good life is now that she is safe and loved with the rescue.  She LOVES everyone she meets and could not be any more awesome if she tried to be! She is dog friendly and now that she has recovered from her surgeries, mama Violet's true loving colors are starting to show.  She loves fetching a ball, playing with toys, and recently showed us she likes to play and swim in the water!  There is not one complaint about this girl to share, because she is perfect! Violet was saved out of an Orlando shelter after being found as a stray on the streets.  She has clearly been used as  a breeding factory and was extremely underweight.  She was very frail and didn't have much energy along with having several mammory masses.  Thankfully, they were all benign masses and she is now a healthy fabulous loving dogo! We don't know anything about her past and still can't understand how she was left to fend for herself. Violet is very well mannered and obedient, more than any rescue we have ever seen! She knows all the commands and is wonderful walking on leash, which she LOVES going on walks! She loves going places on car rides and meeting new people too. We don't know how she is around cats or kids in a home but was nice to them out in public and at the vet's office.  If you don't like getting love and kisses from a dog, Violet is not the dog for you!  She loves to show how much you mean to her and really enjoys hanging out with her people. This girl is truly special and deserves a loving home that will spoil her in a way that she deserves.  If you would like to donate towards Violet's previous medical bills you can go to dcdogos.org/donate or you can shop on her Amazon List at this LINK.  show less
