About Jett

Jett's a whirlwind 15-week old puppy who approaches everything with gusto.  He handled attending our Sacramento Adoption Event like a pro, giving lots of kisses and loves. We know that he's got something else mixed in with his shepherness and yet his vivacious personality hasn't yielded the clues as to what's in his genetic makeup. He is very human-oriented, offers kisses and belly rubs galore and loves to sleep right next to his foster mom during down times. Because he is high energy and bouncy, he may do better in a household with older kids.

Jett is being fostered with Joli and three older shepherds. He accepts correction and guidance from the older shepherds and plays non-stop with Joli.  Jett is potty and crate trained, sleeping through the night for about 7 hours. He is good about picking toys to gnaw on for his baby teeth and easily shares all the toys. In his time with us, he's grown from a black furball to a member of the household teasing us with getting his left ear erect.

A water lover, Jett will need supervision around water as he is fearless. He is compatible with the very dog savvy resident cat in his foster home and isn't interested in participating in squirrel patrol. A fun, easy going puppy, Jett will need large breed puppy experienced adopters to commit to regular exercise, socialization, and training for him to become an amazing adult dog.

Ariana is a 1-year old German Shepherd mix dog that was picked up by local animal services when she was found wandering unattended. Ariana has done extremely well and adjusted quickly to being in foster care. She is now crate trained and can be left alone for several hours without incident. She still tends to pull on the leash a bit, but only needs a minor correction to bring her back in line. She hasn’t shown much interest in toys as yet, but does enjoy playing with other dogs. However, if her foster brothers aren’t interested, she just goes off on her own without issue. While she is pretty well behaved in the home, Ariana does need a little work on her basic obedience commands. However, that being said, she is fairly easy to have around and will make a terrific doggie companion for whoever is lucky enough to adopt her. She does jump up on people, but is getting better as she learns this is unacceptable behavior. We believe that older children in the home would be best. Her reaction to small critters is unknown at this time. It will be necessary for an adopter to have experience in raising a GSD, or other large breed dog. An adopter who can begin obedience training based upon positive reinforcement is recommended to ensure Ariana remains on the path of a well-behaved canine citizen. show less

Bobby is a gorgeous eleven month old male German Shepherd. He may be a young pup, but Bobby has already had an interesting life. Found as a stray, the shelter was sure Bobby's owner would come forward as you see Bobby had a chip with a name (Bobby) so they were sure someone had to be out there looking for him. His owners were contacted by phone and email and for whatever reason, they chose not to come get him. Still, he had a lot of potential so after a though evaluation, he was accepted into a program where he had a month of training to be a drug detection dog. He had the smarts, he had the drive and he had the will- only problem was he could not get comfortable on uneven terrain so his days as a drug detection dog were cut short and he was returned back to the shelter. Bobby, now goes into his next chapter of life with some solid training under his belt.   His recall is excellent, he is very focused on his person and he really wants to please. Bobby would do well with some sort of outlet for all of his energy. We can see Bobby excelling in advanced obedience or even agility. A couch potato he is not. We would like to see Bobby go to a home where his adopters are experienced with a high energy, young  German Shepherd. This boy has a lot of potential and in the right home, he will make an awesome companion dog. Only adopters who have raised a German Shepherd or large working breed should consider adopting Bobby. Bobby is currently settling into his foster home in San Jose and is looking for his forever home. Update from his foster- Bobby is housebroken, on his way to being crate trained and even though has interest in the cat, he is easily redirected and we think he is cat workable.   show less

My name is Maia, and I am a 2-year old German Shepherd mix that had been surrendered to local animal services after having given birth to six beautiful puppies. A nice woman from a rescue organization agreed to take my pups to be sure they were given the proper care and start in life that they deserve. She also agreed to bring me into her home to ensure that I would not be used as a breeder dog, and promised to find me a deserving home, as well. Initially, I was quite shy; however, I have really come out of my shell being in foster care, and want nothing more than to be by your side. My foster mom crate trained and house trained me, and I have had no accidents since arriving in my foster home. I have learned how to walk nicely on leash, but get so excited that I pull sometimes, so do need minor corrections on occasion. I didn’t know much about toys, as I never had any before, but finally found my niche with a soccer ball. I love to chase it, and will bring it back and drop it at your feet, so you can throw it again. I really enjoy playing with other dogs, but proper introductions are a must. Now that I am feeling more comfortable in my surroundings, my foster mom tells me I am turning into a rough and tumble tomboy. I still need work on my basic obedience commands, so will need an adopter who is willing to be patient and work with me.   Maia is going to make a wonderful doggie companion for whoever has the necessary skills and is lucky enough to adopt her. She does jump up on people, but is learning that this is unacceptable behavior. Because of this, older children in the home would be best. Her reaction to small critters is unknown at this time, but we suspect she would not be a good match. It will be necessary for an adopter to have experience in raising a GSD, or other large breed dog. An adopter who can begin obedience training based upon positive reinforcement is recommended to ensure Maia remains on the path of a well-behaved canine citizen. show less

Hi, my name is Molly!  I was found as a stray and was brought into rescue after a Facebook campaign drew attention to me and found me a foster home - I am lucky to have been rescued and nursed back to health!  I got to attend Petsmart's National Adoption Weekend last month - it was so much fun getting to meet everyone and sharing my story. I loved getting lots of pets and making new friends.   So...a little about me - I'm petite, pretty and white!  I've gained about 10 lbs since coming into rescue in October of 2018 and am finally at the perfect weight of about 65 lbs. I am about 9 years old, but don't let that fool you because I'm still full of energy!  I'm a really lovable girl who leans in for pets and snuggles whenever I can! I am pretty much fully recovered from a really bad perianal fistula, which was a very painful infection in my back end.  It’s been over six months now and everything is looking good, but I still get nightly applications on my back end of a topical ointment called Tacrolimus just to keep things under control and prevent a flare-up.  I'd really love to find a quiet or moderate energy home with someone who's looking for a mature companion and who will be willing to continue my nightly Tacrolimus treatment, which my foster mom says is not a big deal at all.  And she thinks I'm worth it!  :-) I'm a really happy girl who loves people, belly rubs, and my foster brothers and sister.  I also really love, love, love going on walks, and I think I would also make a good jogging or running companion (for short distances) because I hardly ever stop to sniff or relieve myself along the way - I just like to go!  Check out the video of one of my morning walks with my foster brothers and sister at https://youtu.be/h5jKH-cyqZI.  You'll be able to see how much my bum has improved from those days with my current park video. I'm really easy going - I sleep through the night and when I wake up, I'm ready for breakfast and then a good walk or run.  At home, I enjoy lots of attention and love and will often nudge your hand or leg to ask for more.  And don't forget my belly rubs!  I'm a really good girl who doesn't have to be crated during the day, so I enjoy snoozing on my favorite bed while my foster mom and dad are at work. I would do best with someone who knows a little about my breed and I could use a refresher course in basic obedience since I really pull hard on the leash!  My foster mom and dad tell me I can't be any cuter, and I hope after reading this and looking at my pictures, you think I could be the perfect fit for you and your family! show less
