About Dobby Balentine

Adoption Fee: $395 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Dobby Balentine
Suspected Breed(s): Feist / Labrador mix
Gender: Male
Age: 1 year, 9 months old
Weight: 30 lbs.
Personality: Funny, trainable, quiet, energetic, shy, gentle, eager to please, defense, snuggler, calm, easygoing, affectionate, protective, smart, loyal, friendly, playful
Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs on and off leash, acting very playful. Dobby has a blast at day care and dog parks! He does best with similar-sized dogs. (He is afraid of big dogs.)
Observations with Cats: Tested well with cats
Observations with Kids: Children’s sudden movements can upset him and make him anxious. For that reason he would do best in a home without children.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Dobby does not like the crate, but he is trusted to have free roam of the house.
Location: DC area foster home
Rescued From: Bladen County, NC
Additional Information: Dobby is a sweet, caring and wonderful dog. He has the cutest habit of sitting on a stool so he can watch out the window as his people leave and return home. This fun boy is a loyal friend who loves to sit near (or on) his people and get belly rubs and ear scratches. When Dobby makes a new friend at the dog park, he gets the “zoomies” and starts running around in circles like an Olympic sprinter with his new friend! Dobby is happy to sit near you quietly all day or go for a long walk, whatever you prefer. He’s also a huge fan of playing with his toys, and when playtime is over, he drags them around the house as he lovingly follows his people around. He is a good learner, and he knows the command “leave it” and does very well with “drop it” if he isn’t feeling anxious. Dobby will do best in a home outside the city with another dog, and he is not a fan of loud mechanical noises. Dobby's adopters will be very lucky indeed!

He lost his eye in an epic battle for the universe (he actually was hit by a car and his eye was badly damaged). This guy is a total goofball who is full of personality. He loves to play with the resident dog and cat in his foster home --- in fact, Chunky Thor would do best in a home with other pets for him to spend time with. When he isn't playing, he can be found stretched out napping on the couch. If you are nearby during nap time, he will snuggle up in your lap and fall right asleep! Chunky Thor will walk around the house purring at everything he sees and often will meow back when he knows you're talking to him. Consider making this guy part of your family today! *Chunky Thor's rescue was generously sponsored by Athena Hoover (who also gave him his great name) ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Copeland Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix Gender: Male Age: 1 year old Weight: 55 lbs Personality: quick learner, playful, funny, protective, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, energetic, snuggler, eager to please, good running partner Observations with Dogs: Copeland is anxious when meeting dogs on walks, so he would do better in a quiet, less dense neighborhood. Observations with Cats: Tested well with cats Observations with Kids: Would do best in a home without children. House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, energetic and loving young dog. He pounces on toys like a champ and is generally a goofy and happy pup. He wants to bring all of his joy to his adopter! He promises to be a good boy if you'll give him lots of treats to help him put on some weight. Copeland has already learned "let's go", "sit", "go to mat", "trade", "go get it", and he is working on "come". He would make a terrific companion for anyone with a house and yard in which he can feel secure and fully express his playful nature. This goofy young boy loves socializing and playing, and he learns new games and commands very quickly. Copeland loves to go running, but he is also great inside. When company is over he will make friends instantly and be the life of the party. He loves the outdoors but feels anxious and is reactive to crowded or busy city streets, so a quiet suburban environment would be the best fit for him. Super soft and fluffy, these tiny torties have big personalities. The tortitude here is strong, as each has no problem voicing her opinions of the day and letting you know that she need your attention, right now. These kittens love to chase each other, hide from their mom and play with any toy presented to them. Beyonce has had age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. An adopter will need to agree cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles. ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV. Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less

Name: Kelly Suspected Breed(s): DSH/Tortie Gender: Female Age: 8 weeks (as of 1/18) Weight: 2 lbs Personality: Outgoing, energetic, curious, playflu, friendly, smart, vocal, adventurous Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Unknown Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Destiny's Child(ren) are little balls of energy. Super soft and fluffy, these tiny torties have big personalities. The tortitude here is strong, as each has no problem voicing her opinions of the day and letting you know that she need your attention, right now. These kittens love to chase each other, hide from their mom and play with any toy presented to them. Kelly has had age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine.
