About Tyson

Tyson is a 10-year-old, 6-pound Chihuahua boy. Quirky little Tyson had a rough past, but has settled into his PPR foster home quite well. He was a terrified, nervous Chihuahua when he came into PPR’s care, but now he’s become a well adjusted, silly, loving little guy, full of personality and “spice” as his foster dad likes to say. Tyson is good with other dogs and cats, but he’d be perfectly content being your one and only, too. He has bonded very closely to his foster dad and has quickly become his loyal companion. He has a cute waddle when he walks and when he wags his tail, his entire chubby rear end wags with it. Tyson is completely house broken and doesn’t get into things around the house. He loves to dig into his blankets and beds and burrow under covers. Tyson also loves being pet, massaged and scratched up and down his back and neck. If Tyson feels threaten by other dogs or scary people, he can react defensively, so he would be best suited for a  dog savvy adopter that can further build his confidence. Tyson loves sweet talk, affection and attention and if you’re sitting down and ignoring him, Tyson will see to it that you pick him up by “talking” and making all kinds of funny noises. Tyson would be best suited for a kid-free home. Tyson rides like a perfect gentleman in the car and loves to explore his backyard with his foster siblings, looking for lizards and feeling the sunshine. He’s a good eater and he’s very food motivated so if you’re cooking, don’t you worry, Tyson will be right by your side to make sure the kitchen floor stays clean if you drop anything. Tyson has some skin allergies and takes a daily pill to keep his skin and coat in good shape. Tyson is housetrained, heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and just had his teeth polished. His adoption donation is $200.

Adoption Fee: $200

The brass tacks on Bella Leigh: 6 years old. 16 pounds. Adorable Min Pin girl with a sweet southern name. Super social. Friendly. Needs to lose some weight. Meet Bella Leigh. In the south you have to pick a good hollerin’ name….”Bella Leigh come back here right now”! We promise though, that you won’t have to use this with her because she has very good doggy manners. Bella Leigh is super social, wants to play and gets along with all dogs. She sometimes plays with dog toys, she’s friendly with people and she’s affectionate. She would never pass up a good belly rub or a cuddle. Bella Leigh is a big fan of sleeping in the people bed and likes to sleep under the covers. The perfect snuggle bunny! She’s a pro at any mode of transportation….leash walks or car rides, you name it. Sweet Bella Leigh scores a 10 in affection and companionship. She is housebroken. Bella Leigh needs an adopter that’s willing to be an accountability partner for her in helping her lose some weight. This will help this otherwise perfect little girl live a longer and healthier life. If you can see Bella Leigh cuddling next to you as you relax and drink some sweet tea, what are you waiting for? You gotta home, we gotta dog. Fill out an adoption application and let’s see if there’s a match. Bella Leigh is heartworm negative, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for her forever home. Pooch profile for Carlos: 11 years old. 12 pounds. Easy to please Poodle boy. Very low maintenance. Meet Carlos. Ways to his heart: buy him food, show him food, serve him food. He sometimes trembles with excitement at dinnertime. Can you tell that he loves to eat? This little gentleman will warm your heart with his sweet disposition and loving nature. Carlos enjoys being outside but is just as content to be a homebody and hang out with you as he likes to cuddle and watch TV. He is quiet and calm 90% of the time, not too interested in toys and instead prefers that you open the blinds so he can tell you all about what the squirrels (or your neighbors) are doing. He’s good with kids and other dogs too. Carlos enjoys being caressed on the top of his head and it’s funny to watch him fight to keep his eyes open while you’re doing that. Being a senior doesn’t stop this boy from enjoying a fairly active life. He is fully housetrained and is the perfect companion for someone who wants a mild mannered pet who is a good canine citizen. If this laid back, loving boy sounds like someone you’d like to have as your next sidekick, we’d love to hear more about you and have you fill out an adoption application. Carlos is heartworm negative, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for his forever home. His adoption donation is $250. show less

Cotton is a 1 year old, 60-pound Labrador Retriever and American bulldog blend boy. This young boy is as sweet as can be! Cotton has never met a stranger – he is super friendly and greets everyone he meets like a long lost friend. You won’t want to miss out on one of Cotton’s famous doggie kisses – this gentleman just has so much love to give! Cotton enjoys spending time outdoors: going for a walk, playing in the backyard, or simply laying on the porch and soaking up the sun. Cotton is still a young boy so loves playtime and has plenty of energy for long walks. After a good play session, Cotton turns into quite the snuggle bug – he loves to cuddle up beside you on the couch, or bury himself in a cozy blanket on a comfy dog bed. Cotton gets along well with other dogs, big or small. He is a playful, young guy who isn't always quite aware of his size, so he would do best with another doggie mate that does not mind his playful nature. Cotton would also be very content as your one and only pet. Cotton is deaf, but he is very attentive to his people and is learning to respond to hand signals, so his hearing deficit does not slow him down one bit. Being the young guy that he is, Cotton is still polishing some of his manners. He is also still learning to stay home along for extended periods of time, so someone who can be home more often would be a plus for Cotton. Fun-loving Cotton would make a wonderful addition to any family! Cotton is housetrained, heartworm negative, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for his forever home. His adoption donation is $225 and will include three training sessions with a qualified force-free trainer. show less

Dolly is a 4-year-old, 48-pound Labrador Retriever and Bulldog blend girl. This gorgeous gal is a total sweetheart! Darling Dolly LOVES people! Dolly is very friendly and readily gives the sweetest bulldog kisses to everyone she meets. Her silly smile and gentle nature will win you over in an instant! Dolly is a polite girl, who already knows several common commands such as sit, wait, and leave it. Dolly does not jump up on people when greeting them, and rides politely in the car, but she is still refining her leash walking skills. Dolly is the perfect mix between a young exercise buddy and a laid-back, relaxed companion. She very much enjoys playtime in the yard or going for long walks, yet she is also content relaxing on a lazy afternoon. With proper introductions, Dolly gets along nicely with other dogs, so she would be content as your only pooch, or she would be fine sharing her forever home with another calm, mellow dog. Dolly is not a big fan of meeting other dogs on leash - she gets a bit nervous and overexcited, but she is making good progress with positive-reinforcement based training. Dolly is housetrained, heartworm negative, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for her forever home. Her adoption donation is $250. As part of our "big dogs, big love" adoption program, Dolly's adoption fee includes three in home training session with a force-free, professional dog trainer. show less

The pooch profile on Ellen: 1 year old. 21 pounds. Energetic Terrier blend female. Lovable. Would be great in a home with another doggie buddy or children. Is on a skin and coat grain-free food to benefit her coat. Meet Ellen. She may not have a TV show and she may not know how to dance, but this Ellen is nice and friendly and would love to be your new best friend. This little girl is a great catch. At one year old, she’s young and energetic, gets along with other dogs and would love to be in a household with playmates in the form of a fur sibling or even a couple of human siblings. Ellen has a good start on her basic commands already – she knows “sit” and she also sits pretty when it’s time to have her leash put on or removed. Snuggling is one of her favorite things to do, and overall she is extremely lovable. Ellen is a beautiful pup and will be a wonderful addition to any family. She’d be great with an active family who is able to spend play time and training time with her so she continues to develop good doggie manners. She’s housetrained so you won’t have to worry about that skill. If you can see yourself adding this sweetheart to your family, what are you waiting for? You gotta home, we gotta dog. Fill out an adoption application and let’s see if there’s a match. Ellen is heartworm negative, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for her forever home. The furry facts on Harley: 5 years old. 4 pounds. Princess Yorkie girl. Loves people. Foodie. On a prescription diet which costs the same as any high quality dog food. Not likely to ever be housetrained with her teeny tiny bladder. No small children. Meet Harley. She’s about to steal your heart. You’ve been warned. Harley is people focused. Although she’s fine around other dogs, she’s not really interested in interacting with them. Her main goal in life is to hang with her person and sit on a lap, demanding to be petted by playfully whacking your face with her paw. It's so stinkin’ cute. Harley loves her walks and she loves to watch squirrels and chase lizards. Toys aren’t her thing. She likes wearing clothes, which is a good thing since she’s so small and gets chilled easily. Imagine the fun you can have with that. Harley gets super excited when you get home and greets you with so much love it’ll make your day. Count on her being your little shadow as she’ll follow you around the house and curl up beside you or be right on top of you once you sit down to relax. Due to her small and delicate stature, being around very small children is not recommended. Way too much activity going on from those little creatures for her taste. Harley doesn’t have many teeth but has no problem eating. She loves meal time and knows when dinner is. She jumps for joy the whole time you are preparing her food. She prefers to sleep in a people bed. She is not potty trained and probably never will be. She does go outside while on walks but will still have accidents. If this little beauty sounds like the perfect arm candy for you, what are you waiting for? You gotta home, we gotta dog. Fill out an adoption application and let’s see if there’s a match. Harley is heartworm negative, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for her forever home. Her adoption donation is $400. show less

Just the facts on Julep: 8 months old. 35 pounds and growing. Lab blend. Active female who would like another dog for a playmate. Meet Julep. Her favorite quote: ‘Yes I know where your socks are and I believe you know where the treats are.’ Don’t let the demure southern name fool you, this girl will grab socks any chance she gets! Julep is all puppy - if she’s awake, she’s on the move – so much to be excited about in life! Like food. She loves food. Julep is a very loving pup and will be a great companion for someone. She stays right at the feet of her person, whether that’s on the kitchen floor as you cook, in the bathroom (to keep you company), or wherever you go in the house. She’s not crazy about being left alone and would love to join a home with another dog to play with and chase around out in the yard. Julep gets along great with small dogs and large dogs, never met a bone she didn’t like to chew, or a ball she didn’t want to chase, and she likes playing with toys as well. An active family would be perfect for this playful & adorable girl. She takes a minute when she meets new people, but 5 minutes later is fast friends with them. Julep needs someone that has the time to spend time continuing to train her as a growing puppy and love her as unconditionally as she loves in return. She’s 98% housebroken and, just like with any puppy, her new family will need to be able to give her potty breaks every four hours so she masters that training. Julep is a smart girl with a good start to house manners and because she loves food, training her should be a breeze. If you can see this bundle of love sharing her fun personality with you & your family, we’d love to learn more about you and have you fill out an adoption application. Julep is vaccinated, microchipped and is ready for her forever home. She should be adopted in the Central Florida area as she is due to be spayed in mid-March, which is included in her adoption donation amount of $375. show less

Doggy data on Kira: 4 years old. 21 pounds. Dachshund and Min Pin blend girl. Sweet and gentle once she feels safe and comfortable. Calm home with no other dogs or one laid back dog. Experienced adopter needed. No cats. Meet Kira. She hasn’t had the easiest life prior to coming to PPR, so she’s looking for a caring and compassionate home that will help give her the life of comfort she deserves. She takes some time to warm up but once she feels secure her gentle and sweet side comes out. Kira has some quirks, but here's her secret, just between us: She’ll love you even if you're not perfect. Because she won't check your pedigree, your bank account or your credit score. She’s only interested in checking out one thing about you: The size of your heart. And if there's room for a sensitive little dog named Kira, then it's just the right size for her. Kira needs a calm and quiet household. She’d be best being an only dog or living with another very calm dog. If you’re a dog savvy person who has room in your heart to love this little girl as she deserves to be loved, what are you waiting for? You gotta home, we gotta dog. The low down on Lacy: 8 months old. 10 pounds. Terrier blend girl. Blind, but that doesn’t stop her from having fun. Puppy energy. Meet Lacy. She’s never seen herself in the mirror so we tell her how pretty she is at least 20 times a day. Lacy likes nothing more than to play her day away. She is all puppy – running around with her fur siblings in the fenced in back yard, playing with her human siblings who are 4 and 8 years old, and snuggling with her people after all that activity. Lacy doesn't know she’s blind. She would remind you that vision is not the primary sense in dogs. If she can smell, taste and feel you petting her, she’s a happy girl. This loveable girl is pure fun to have around. Lacy is affectionate, sweet, and would love to go to a home with another very playful dog. Blind dogs benefit a lot from living with other dogs that can see - they use their partner as a guide to find their way around and strong bonds develop between them. Because Lacy is still a puppy, her new family will have to invest the time and energy in continuing her training. Training a blind dog is not much different than training a sighted dog, just a little different. She’ll learn to follow verbal clues with her excellent hearing. She’s just starting her housebreaking training so she’ll need you to continue that training until she masters it. Because she is blind, it's best that she goes to a one level home without stairs and a home without a pool, but other than that, you'll find few differences between her and a sighted dog. If you can see yourself posting way too many pics of this darling puppy girl on your social media, what are you waiting for? You gotta home, we gotta dog. Fill out an adoption application and let’s see if there’s a match. Lacy is heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped, and ready for her forever home. She needs to be adopted locally so she can complete her last puppy boosters, which are included in the adoption donation. Her adoption donation is $350. show less

The fast facts on Lucky: 10 years old. 12 pounds. Active Poodle boy. Velcro dog who will be your shadow. Meet Lucky. You’re gonna feel like the lucky one when you bring this little gent into your family. He is cuddly and snuggly and he’ll sit right on your chest and look you in the eyes. He’s the kind of dog that hears “meeting in the bathroom!” when you get up to go to the bathroom yourself. Lucky loves to chase balls and taking walks is super high on his list. So much so that he bounces with each step – pure happiness. That dog bed? It’ll sit empty at night because he’s all about the people bed, burrowing deep under the covers. Lucky is a great co-pilot in the car. When you first meet him he’s a bit shy but once he’s comfortable he is so loving and just wants to be on top of you or in your lap. Lucky loves men, women and children. He gets along well with other dogs but does like them to know he’s top dog. Stay away from giving him people food – he needs to keep his waistline in check and he’s too excited about it to refrain from helping himself to it. He’s fully housetrained. If this super affectionate boy sounds like someone you’d like to have follow you around the house all day, what are you waiting for? You gotta home, we gotta dog. Maxwell is a 6-year-old, 42-pound Labrador Retriever and Beagle blend boy. Maxwell is a guy who likes to take it slow. It takes a little bit of time for him to form relationships with people and he can be shy. He is still working on meeting and bonding with people, but has made remarkable progress since being in our care. So much progress he has stunned us all! Once you've earned Maxwell's trust, the rewards are great. He's a very gentle, quiet, and attentive dog, who absolutely adores the one he's deemed to be his person. Maxwell's favorite thing in the whole wide world - beside food and yummy treats of course - is playing with his dog buddies. He loves the company of other large, playful dogs - especially females. Together with his dog buddies, Maxwell loves to fetch, role in the grass, and play tag. Maxwell comes to us from a hoarding situation, where he was not given much exposure to the outside world, so most experiences are still new and scary to Maxwell. He is working on gaining confidence in the world and has spent several months in a board-and-train program with a professional, positive-reinforcement based dog trainer. Maxwell has made great strides, but because he is still a bit insecure, he will need to find a home with someone who can continue to help him build his confidence, keep up his training, and meet him with lots of love and patience. We know this all may sound like a lot, but Maxwell promises he is worth it! Maxwell is housetrained, heartworm negative, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is ready for his forever home and hoping that his perfect forever family is out there! Maxwell is free to adopt or eligible for our Furever Foster program. His adoption will include a training package with a qualified force-free trainer in the adopter's area. Maxwell may also be considered for adoption outside the state of Florida. show less

The stats on Mini: 8 years old. 11 pounds. Terrier and Corgi blend girl. Loving. Will follow you around. Needs another dog in the home or someone home more often than not. Must be adopted in the Central Florida area for re-evaluation on her knee in the future. Meet Mini. We think she may be watching too much HGTV because she fancies herself an interior designer, always repositioning her bed and toys until they are in perfect position. Mini loves to be involved in the family, and will be your little shadow wherever you go. She’s very alert and tends to bark only as needed. Mini will continually entertain you since she loves to chase anything that moves. Her foster mom says she one of the most curious and focused dogs she’s met, whether it’s her attention to lizard tracking or obsessing over her rubber toys. Mini loves her walks but she’s equally comfortable on your lap or in her doggy bed. Mini is an easy going dog and is a good calm passenger in the car. She’s not crazy about being alone for any long period of time so needs a home where there’s another dog to keep her company or where someone is home more often than not. She’s fully housebroken too. Fast facts on Noel: 4 years old. 9 pounds. Miniature Schnauzer and Poodle blend girl. Spunky girl with paralyzed back legs but do not tell her she has a disability, she doesn’t know! If you have a deep appreciation for the resilience of animals and want to pay it forward by opening your home to a special needs dog, we have the perfect little pup for you. Noel just loves being treated like a normal dog and being part of the pack. We could all learn life lessons from her. Her paralyzed back legs haven’t altered her happy spirit one bit. She’s an adorable, independent and feisty little girl that’s figured out how to do things herself without help. She can do anything a 4 legged dog can do. Noel plays with her foster dog siblings, runs (well, scoots fast), and likes going places and riding in her doggie stroller. She’s quite the popular girl when she goes out - she makes friends easily and everyone that meets her loves her. Noel’s not a cuddler and is not fond of being picked up – laying in a dog bed by the couch or by the bed is more her style. That’s just how she rolls. And speaking of rolling, she has a cart to help her get around and is getting stronger and better every day at using it. Those wheels give her the fast path to your heart. Due to not having control of her bladder, Noel will need a family that will change her diaper and express her bladder a couple times a day. Don't worry...it's super easy to learn how and she doesn't mind at all. This sweet little girl is best being able to roam free in the house - being confined is not her thing. She’s been good in her foster home with this open environment, hanging with the other dogs. As is common with lots of dogs, thunderstorms and fireworks are scary to Noel. A quiet all adult home (or one with teens and adults) would be her preference. Also, a one story home without a pool is a must for her so she can maneuver around safely. If you are a big hearted person who is feeling excited just thinking about bringing a dog like Noel into your home, we’d love to hear more about you and have you fill out an adoption application. Noel is heartworm negative, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for her forever home. Her adoption donation is $200. show less

Rusty is very sweet and loving and needs someone who has the time to work on his manners with him, unleashing all of his potential. Although he sometimes spooks easily, he’s a happy and friendly lap dog with a waggy tail. The stats on Squeaky: 3 years old. 40 pounds. Hound blend girl. Happy and friendly. Lots of love to give. Best in a home with someone home most of the time. Meet Squeaky. “After is better. Before was only there so after could happen.” Squeaky came into rescue as a shy and nervous girl that was found as a stray after being hit by a car. She has blossomed into the happiest girl around that greets everyone with a goofy smile and lots of kisses (everyone except that untrustworthy vacuum cleaner). Squeaky gets along with all fur friends – little dogs, big dogs, and even cats. Her hobbies include playing with toys on her back, snuggling, zipping under her foster brothers’ legs, and walks to the local coffee shop to indulge in a Puppuccino. Squeaky would do well in a home with someone around to love her as much as she loves back. She is a fantastic listener and is learning how to sit and give a paw. Squeaky is on the lookout for a home with a fenced yard with someone home most of the time. This sweet girl would be better suited for a family with older kids as she thinks she’s a 9 lb. chihuahua and we don’t have the heart to tell her otherwise. Also, no excessive jumping for this girl. If you can see yourself stylin’ around with this gorgeous girl and showing her off to the world, we’d love to hear from you and have you fill out an adoption application. Squeaky is heartworm negative, vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready for her forever home. Included in her adoption fee is an orthopedic re-check in late April. Her adoption donation is $300. show less

The Doggy data on Starr: 7 months old. 35 pounds. Terrier and Labrador Retriever blend girl. Smart, active and snuggly. Meet Starr. She’s enjoying her last few months of puppyhood and was just quoted saying ‘You mean I have to adult now?’ Not only is Starr as loving as can be, she also has the most beautiful markings. Just look at that adorable eye patch! Starr loves to run and play in the yard and at the dog park. She is very smart and already knows how to sit and give her paw. She knows leave it and can fetch. It won’t take her long to learn other commands at all with some additional training from her new family. Starr loves to give kisses and snuggle and is very friendly with other dogs, both big and small, as well as children. She is a great co-pilot in the car and good on walks too. Starr is a beautiful sweet young dog and will be a wonderful addition to any family. She’d be great with an active family who is able to spend play time and training time with her so she continues to develop good doggie manners. She is housetrained. If you can see yourself posting all sorts of pics of this little cutie on your social media, we’d love to find out more about you and have you fill out an adoption application. Tilly is a 9-year-old, 62-pound Blue Tick Coon Hound girl. Our silly Tilly is such a sweetheart! Tilly originally came to us as part of a hoarding case, where she was locked away in a crate for most of her life. Now we are happy to say that Tilly has traded her crate for a cozy spot on the couch. She is loving her new life lounging on the coziest dog beds! Tilly is a happy-go-lucky girl. She enjoys going for leisurely walks, or roaming around the backyard, exploring wherever her hound dog nose takes her. Tilly recently discovered the joy of playing with dog toys. She now cannot get enough of little squeaky toys and it is so cute to see her getting all excited. The way to Tilly’s heart definitely includes food. She recently had a dental cleaning, where we had to extract several of her teeth, but that has not diminished her appetite. Tilly can still eat kibble and you will never hear her say no to any treat you offer her. Bananas are her favorite snack in the world. Tilly gets along very well with other dogs big or small, as long as they respect her space. She is never aggressive, but may get vocal if they come up to her too quickly. Sweet Tilly is mostly housetrained, however she does tend to have to go to the bathroom quickly after eating, so you will just have to make sure mealtime is quickly followed by a pottybreak. Tilly is a mellow, loving lady who is looking for a cozy place to enjoy her golden days. Tilly has completed heartworm treatment, is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and recently had her teeth polished. Her adoption donation is $250. show less

The bare bones on Toby: 8 years old. 14 pounds. Shih Tzu blend boy. Friendly, happy and playful. Must be adopted in the Central Florida area for follow up check ups on a successful surgery he had. Meet Toby. He’s a wicked swing dancer and fun at weddings, but you wouldn’t let him be in charge at a BBQ. Toby is a warm, wonderful little guy who loves to cuddle and be by your side. High on his list is playing catch with toys and his little tail wags non stop when you’re playing with him. Go on a walk? Yes please. Romp around the backyard with other doggie pals? Definitely! Toby loves a good belly rub as much as he likes being brushed slowly and with love. Car rides: another favorite thing to do. He knows his basic commands and always comes when you call him. Toby is friendly and has never met a stranger. He welcomes visitors to his home with a quick little approval sniff and then it’s all doggie smiles and tail wags. He’s fully housebroken too. If this dreamy boy sounds like someone you’d like to have filling up your phone with his pictures, what are you waiting for? You gotta home we gotta dog. Fill out an adoption application and let’s see if there’s a match. Toby is heartworm negative, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for his forever home. He needs to be adopted locally in Central Florida so he can be taken into a PPR vet for a couple of rechecks on a successful mouth surgery he had in February – these vet visits are included in the adoption donation. His adoption donation is $300. show less

His adoption donation is $200. show less
