Athena is going to steal your heart! She is a sweet female dogo argentino who absolutely loves being with her people. This girl wants to be inside with her family getting all the love and attention she deserves. She is a dominant female and prefers to be the only dog and based on her personality we definitely feel cats would not do well around her! Athena is a healthy girl who has formerly been a mama dog so that tends to make them extra loving to their humans. She is a California girl living on the outskirts of Los Angeles and available for a meet and greet if you are interested. Athena is a good girl but she will need her new dog parent to work on her obendience. She spent several weeks with a professional trainer to learn how to behave and follow commands properly. She is eager to please and has a willingness to learn so the human in her life must have the ability and patience to do the same! show less

Big, 5-year-old teddy bear seeking a loving fur-ever home. Likes short walks in the grass, long naps on a comforter, and all humans. Must love kisses and lingering bear hugs!! Hi, my name is Bowzer. Before DC Dogos rescued me from a shelter, I was homeless. Don’t tell the other dogs, but I wanted a home so badly, I hopped into the animal control truck on my own! I’m a little unsteady on my feet, so DC Dogos hooked me up with tests to find out why. My vet says I have elbow dysplasia, mild hip dysplasia, and maybe a condition called wobbler’s syndrome. I know that sounds serious, but it doesn’t keep me down! I just need a soft place to rest, some joint supplements, and a little help with pain and mobility as I age. Otherwise, I’m healthy, happy, and loving life! It’s been awesome living with my foster human! I love my foster pack—all sizes, genders and ages! I would really love a home with one or two dog pals who are friendly, gentle, and smaller than me (even toy breeds are cool). I don’t dislike big dogs, but sometimes I clam up if I think they might knock me over. I’ve never seen a cat before. I like little people, but any mini-human siblings should have basic obedience. No rough love, please! I like to go in my crate with a cookie and my comforter when my foster human leaves, but I'd much rather spend time with my family. Sometimes I steal my foster human's house shoes so I can lay on them when I'm missing her, but I never chew. If I get lucky, I get to go for a ride! I’m respectful of furniture and content to sleep on my comforter, but I never turn down special time on the sofa or the bed when I’m invited. I'm still learning about toys. Want to teach me? I’ve had a few accidents in the house, but I’ve learned to do my business outside, and I’m working on basic obedience. My foster human keeps saying “Gooooood, Bowow!” whatever that’s about. I would love to keep learning with positive reinforcement in my forever home. If you think we might be a match, have your people fill out an adoption application, and my people will get back to you! XOXO Bowzer Please consider a donation towards his care via paypal dcdogos@gmail.com! show less

This sweetie found herself in the Dallas shelter early in December and we got her out of there just in time for Christmas! We are not sure of her history but now we know that she is a friendly female who is opening up to her temporary foster quickly. She loves toys!! She also loves to steal toys and socks too! Eva is showing to be a sweet girl and loves being around her humans. She loves attention and just wants to be loved. She does not like to be in a crate and even more, she doesn't like being outside!! Eva is fairly low key and may even do fine in a home or town home with small yard. She needs more training to learn how to walk on a leash and over time and positive reinforcement she will learn to like going outside. So far she doesn't seem interested in making friends with other dogs and will need to see a trainer to work on this. We are not sure if this is just other dogs in the home or dogs in general. Eva needs someone willing to give her the TLC and attention she deserves. She does have hair loss and we are still trying to determine the cause but it seems like with her new diet and life that it may be getting better already. She needs someone with patience to help teach her how to enjoy a walk on a leash and how to be calm when left alone as she really just wants to be around her humans! show less

Faith is a sweet female dogo argentino with a loving soul and heart of gold! Her will to survive is beyond impressive and she will surely be a gift to her next family. Faith is deaf but that doesn't stop her from being 100% awesome! She is a brilliant girl that wants to learn and loves being rewarded with treats and kisses. She doesn't have all her manners yet but is learning every day how to behave like a lady! Her favorite past time is counter surfing but we are working towards a different interest to better suit the home life! One new improvement with Faith is that she is now learning how to play with other dogs!! We would still recommend an owner that understands the breed and how to properly socialize dogs as this still needs work. If you are looking for a dog to be your personal comedian look no further, Faith is that dog!! She is spunky and she will make you smile and laugh on a regular basis! The perfect human is someone with patience to learn her language, which is sign! She is a fast learner and knows the basic commands. This human also needs a safe fenced in yard with room for her to explore! Major plus for her is if you have a playground, she loves to climb things!!! Faith says that she wants anyone interested to please do their research on deaf dogs before applying! She says that dogs like her make great pets once their humans work on their own sign language commands. Faith also says it's true that deaf dogs are more "clingy" that other dogs because they want to be by their human's side as much as possible because they depend on their human so much! One last thing, Faith did say she loves wide open spaces to run but has been advised that deaf dogs really need a yard with a high (6ft+) fence. Apparently this helps humans from losing their deaf dogs that can't seem to hear them when they call them to come back! Thank you for your interest in adopting. You can learn more about her rescue that loves her to pieces at www.dcdogos.org. show less

Dumped by a human? Yes. Going to sit around and cry about it? NOPE!! This is Ivy's mindset and she is on her way to being a beautiful independent girl living the good life now. This Miami girl has shown to be a sweet and fun girl who is loving her new dogo brother at her foster home. Ivy likes him so much they eat side by side and play tug-o-war like they've been best buds forever! She thinks it's cool to be part of a pack now and having the love from humans, which is all new to her! Ivy is not available to adopt just yet, she still has tie up some lose ends! Are you ready for Leo?! Leonidas is a big ball of energy! He'll keep up with you on a long jog and then snuggle with you on the couch afterwards! At 2 yo, he's still all puppy! Leo has gone to daycare every week and does great with other dogs! He would thrive in a home with a playmate to help him expel some of his energy. He has lived with and done well with older children, but we recommend a home with no young children. Since he's still a pup, he doesn't quite realize his size. Leo has basic obedience but does need a strong and confident owner who can continue his training and handle his size. Located in Tampa FL. show less

Why is this sweetie still waiting for her forever home? Lucy is a true gem! This darling 2.5yo girl absolutely adores her humans, both big and small! Previously Lucy had a home with little humans and she did great with them! She is dog selective and a home without other dogs would be ideal for her. As with any dogo, Lucy is highly intelligent and loves learning new things, making her highly trainable. Lucy is on a strict diet to control GI issues she is suseptible to. Don't let this scare you!! All this means is you have to keep her on a particular diet and keep her away from eating treats she should not have. Plus, don't let her go garbage diving!! She's currently on a LID of Zignature Duck and is doing well. She is insured through VCA and Embrace Pet Insurance - it's important to keep her health insurance coverage active. Her current monthly costs run $140 for food, supplements and insurance. Any adopters must sign a contract stating they will maintain her diet and insurance. This sweetie LOVES the people in her life and is a total pleasure to have in the home. One of her favorite things to do is play tug-o-war!! She is young and full of life and deserves a fun loving family in return!! Lucy is currently located in Southern California. Meet sweet Maggie Mae! She's 7 years old and quite the distinguished lady! She adores people, big and small, and would thrive in a loving home with plenty of attention She's been raised with children of all ages and is very patient with little ones. Maggie also has two furry brothers! Even though she minds her manners in public around all other dogs, she would do best as the only female in a new home. Maggie unexpectedly lost her "person" last year ... so she's looking for a new human to call her own! Miss Maggie Mae LOVES car rides and long walks through the woods. She's content to curl up at your feet or snuggle up for belly rubs and scratches. She would make the perfect companion for someone new to the breed, or looking for a more relaxed dogo to add to the family. Located in Sonora, CA show less

Sheila was just saved from Miami shelter on 3/29/18 and we are learning more about her. She is with a very temp foster the next few days while we secure another option. So far she is friendly with humans and is a happy girl. She has not been introduced to other dogs yet but doesn't react to them when she sees them. Papers say she was just spayed on 3/26 and is about 3 years old and was found as a stray. Stay tuned, more to come about this dogo! Fostering helps us learn more about the dogs so we can properply place them in homes. It generally takes 3 days to decompress when leaving a shelter so this process takes time and we don't try to go too fast! Fosters are the reason we can save dogs so if you are interested in fostering please fill out our application! show less

Ozzy found himself at a south Florida shelter after being picked up as a stray. He suffers from entropia, which we are going to correct with bilateral eye surgery while he is with his foster. Very soon he will be absolutely STUNNING after his eyes heal and the hair fills back in properly. He is very friendly with his dogo foster female sister and his humans! He likes walks, playing around the house, and has taken ownership of the soft round dog bed! He is crate trained and working on polishing up his housetraining skills. He is a loving and sweet boy that is easily corrected and eager to please! Ozzy has stolen our hearts and clearly going to make a wonderful addition to the perfect family once he recovers from eye surgery and neuter. We expect him to be ready to adopt after June 1, 2018. As we learn more about Ozzy we will update here! Currently we do not know his behavior with cats and kids and prefer an adult home, possibly with older kids. Thank you for learning about Ozzy and you can find out more about the rescue and other adoptable dogos at www.dcdogos.org. show less

Rio found himself a stray in Puerto Rico after Hurrican Maria and recently traveled to Texas with the family that helped him. He is a 3 yo friendly neutered healthy Dogo Argentino that loves the children in his life. He wants a home where he can run and play with his humans and other non-dominant dogs. Rio says he wants a family that will give him lots of lovins'! If you want a shadow to follow you around, Rio says he loves doing that! Rio is described to be friendly, active, playful, smart, and affectionate by his current humans. Right now he is spoiled with a tasty raw diet that is making a big difference in his recovery after being a stray with no food after the hurricane. His current home has an intact male Cane Corso and the two don't seem to want to share the same territory. Rio arrived to the States in late February and now needs a home that better suits him. He is dog friendly but needs a home without another alpha dog. He sounds to be textbook Dogo in regards to his traits, personality, and handsome good looks! Rio is housetrained, crate trained, not a digger, not a fence jumper, good with older kids (no toddlers), and good with meeting new people too! He is very well behaved and eager to learn and please his humans! He is currently located near San Antonio, TX but willing to relocate. Tranpsort can be arranged for the perfect home! Rio is a member of the DC Dogos Inc family and you can learn more about us and him at www.dcdogos.org. show less
