About Bowzer

Big, 5-year-old teddy bear seeking a loving fur-ever home. Likes short walks in the grass, long naps on a comforter, and all humans. Must love kisses and lingering bear hugs!!

Hi, my name is Bowzer. Before DC Dogos rescued me from a shelter, I was homeless. Don’t tell the other dogs, but I wanted a home so badly, I hopped into the animal control truck on my own!

I’m a little unsteady on my feet, so DC Dogos hooked me up with tests to find out why. My vet says I have elbow dysplasia, mild hip dysplasia, and maybe a condition called wobbler’s syndrome. I know that sounds serious, but it doesn’t keep me down! I just need a soft place to rest, some joint supplements, and a little help with pain and mobility as I age. Otherwise, I’m healthy, happy, and loving life!

It’s been awesome living with my foster human! I love my foster pack—all sizes, genders and ages! I would really love a home with one or two dog pals who are friendly, gentle, and smaller than me (even toy breeds are cool). I don’t dislike big dogs, but sometimes I clam up if I think they might knock me over.

I’ve never seen a cat before. I like little people, but any mini-human siblings should have basic obedience. No rough love, please!

I like to go in my crate with a cookie and my comforter when my foster human leaves, but I'd much rather spend time with my family. Sometimes I steal my foster human's house shoes so I can lay on them when I'm missing her, but I never chew. If I get lucky, I get to go for a ride! I’m respectful of furniture and content to sleep on my comforter, but I never turn down special time on the sofa or the bed when I’m invited. I'm still learning about toys. Want to teach me?

I’ve had a few accidents in the house, but I’ve learned to do my business outside, and I’m working on basic obedience. My foster human keeps saying “Gooooood, Bowow!” whatever that’s about. I would love to keep learning with positive reinforcement in my forever home.

If you think we might be a match, have your people fill out an adoption application, and my people will get back to you!

Originally a Florida gal, Angel is a 6 year old Dogo Argentino who spent about 7 months at a humane society shelter, where she was loved and adored by all staff and volunteers!! She loved seeing her people and giving kisses every single day. She currently lives in Conyers, GA but willing to travel to her new family! Angel really loves to eat, especially if it involves peanut butter! She gets so excited to eat and she will tell you all about it too! Angel does play with another male dogo but seems to prefer to be around her human instead. Angel likes to be the dominant one and we feel that she would do best in a home without female dogs...or cats. Now, Angel is going through training in Georgia to learn some basic manners. She is a good girl who has shown to be friendly with people, and even children! They are working on her socialization techniques with other dogs now that she knows she's in a safe place. Angel has some funny little anxieties that are cute- it seems that everything is new to her, and she's got the excitement of a puppy to see the world! She has a whole world to experience so we are taking it step by step with this sweetheart. Angel is ready to be adopted to a home that has the time and patience to continue working on her training. The rescue does provide initial training but the adopter needs to take it from there and make sure she continues to be a wonderful Dogo. We are not sure how she is around cats but, from what we see, cats wouldn't make it in her home- she has a strong will to chase and catch squirrels and any other critter she gets a glimpse of! Updates about Angel will be provided as we continue to learn more about her and watch her progress through training!! You can learn more about the rescue and our dogs at show less

Boyd is a handsome 1.5 year old playful male dogo argentino that currently lives near Flint, MI. He needs a loving active home where he can shine and be loved on regularly. Boyd loves adventure and spending quality time with his people and absolutely LOVES being the center of attention. He knows all basic obedience and loves to learn. He is working hard to walk better on a leash too but still needs some work, easily accomplished with repetition and reinforcement. He would make a fantastic jogging or hiking partner plus he really loves car rides as well. He does so much better in a home setting and is going backwords in a kennel/boarding environment. We are seeking a foster or adopter for him in effort to keep him happy and in a place he will thrive. If you can give him this opportunity please let us know, transportation will be provided. Last year Boyd somehow found is way to a woman's porch in the California desert and eventually found a couple to help take care of him. Currently he is learning manners and continuing socialization with one of our trainers. She says he is a very active boy and would need an active home ready to take him out to explore and play fetc on a very regular basis. Boyd is a good boy but like many dogos, he needs an alpha owner that will continue with the training that dogos need the first few years. He absolutely loves to play fetch so his new human must enjoy this hobby as well! He loves being inside, but spends most of his time outdoors. His current humans say he is sweet and very playful so his new family must have the time and energy to fulfull his fun lifestyle. Boyd used to do well with male and femaled dogs and may do well with them again in a home setting. We think a no dog and no kid home is best for him at this time. We would consider a female dog home for him for the right applicant. For more information about the rescue please visit show less

Faith is a sweet female dogo argentino with a loving soul and heart of gold! Her will to survive is beyond impressive and she will surely be a gift to her next family. Faith is deaf but that doesn't stop her from being 100% awesome! She is a brilliant girl that wants to learn and loves being rewarded with treats and kisses. She doesn't have all her manners yet but is learning every day how to behave like a lady! Her favorite past time is counter surfing but we are working towards a different interest to better suit the home life! One new improvement with Faith is that she is now learning how to play with other dogs!! We would still recommend an owner that understands the breed and how to properly socialize dogs as this still needs work. If you are looking for a dog to be your personal comedian look no further, Faith is that dog!! She is spunky and she will make you smile and laugh on a regular basis! The perfect human is someone with patience to learn her language, which is sign! She is a fast learner and knows the basic commands. This human also needs a safe fenced in yard with room for her to explore! Major plus for her is if you have a playground, she loves to climb things!!! Faith says that she wants anyone interested to please do their research on deaf dogs before applying! She says that dogs like her make great pets once their humans work on their own sign language commands. Faith also says it's true that deaf dogs are more "clingy" that other dogs because they want to be by their human's side as much as possible because they depend on their human so much! One last thing, Faith did say she loves wide open spaces to run but has been advised that deaf dogs really need a yard with a high (6ft+) fence. Apparently this helps humans from losing their deaf dogs that can't seem to hear them when they call them to come back! Thank you for your interest in adopting. Violet has got to be one of the most well mannered dogos we have ever rescued! This girl clearly knows how good life is now that she is safe and loved with the rescue. She LOVES everyone she meets and could not be any more awesome if she tried to be! She is dog friendly and now that she has recovered from her surgeries, mama Violet's true loving colors are starting to show. She loves fetching a ball, playing with toys, and recently showed us she likes to play and swim in the water! There is not one complaint about this girl to share, because she is perfect! Violet was saved out of an Orlando shelter after being found as a stray on the streets. She has clearly been used as a breeding factory and was extremely underweight. She was very frail and didn't have much energy along with having several mammory masses. Thankfully, they were all benign masses and she is now a healthy fabulous loving dogo! We don't know anything about her past and still can't understand how she was left to fend for herself. Violet is very well mannered and obedient, more than any rescue we have ever seen! She knows all the commands and is wonderful walking on leash, which she LOVES going on walks! She loves going places on car rides and meeting new people too. We don't know how she is around cats or kids in a home but was nice to them out in public and at the vet's office. If you don't like getting love and kisses from a dog, Violet is not the dog for you! She loves to show how much you mean to her and really enjoys hanging out with her people. This girl is truly special and deserves a loving home that will spoil her in a way that she deserves. show less
